My First Images with Fujifilm X-T5 & Japan Factory Tour: I was recently invited to Tokyo, Japan, as part of their latest X-Summit to celebrate the launch of the brand-new Fujifilm X-T5.
During the trip, I was lucky enough to be invited to the Fujifilm Factory in Sendai to spend some time with the factory managers, workers and engineers.

A "photography centric" camera should offer a battery grip, or perhaps something more substantial than the $125 bolt on they are offering. My XT3 cramps my hand once we add a flash or one of Fuji's exceptional, larger lenses, as much as I love the thing. I've started preferring using the camera with the grip whether the lens is big or small. Also wishing they'd offer the/a stacked sensor instead of more megapixels as an option on a future XT5S or XT6. Nothing would be more rad or welcome than a big bump in the tracking hit rates.

My ethical principles are the same wherever public street photography is legal (as it is in Japan). I would never take a photograph I wouldn't be comfortable being in myself. Ultimately, if photography of people in public places is banned (as it is in some countries) then we lose the obligation to future generations to show them the nostalgic elements of past times.

@@kevin_mullins Have you tried the new 56mm F 1.2 WR? If so, is it worth going that route if I haven’t bought the previous 56mm?

Images from X-T5? The one with 40MP sensor? That can shoot in color? In dark, with IBIS? Right? Amazing as travel blog but, please be honest it is not about pictures.

The very first thing I said at the beginning was that this was not a review. Your choice to watch on after that point.

Kevin I’m surprised Fuji flew you to Japan. I thought you said you are no longer a Fuji Ambassador. I am confused.
This looks like a smoking hot camera for a stills or hybrid photographer. Fuji has packed so much goodness into this body at a good price. I’ve handled the body yesterday at Glazer’s camera in Seattle. It is just lovely. Not trying to sound like a curmudgeon I’m passing on this model.
It comes down to my current Fuji cameras are good enough for me. I have what I need. Now it is just what I want. The XPRO 4. The new sensor and IBIS. Maybe. Maybe that would get me to purchase a new Fuji body. The factory rep suggested this isn’t going to appear for a couple of years. Alright. Did I mention I have all that I need, except the winning numbers for the $1.6 billion mega lottery?
Lovely images Kevin. If I wasn’t a psychiatric RN working six nights a week, I’d like to be a photojournalist wedding photographer using Fuji gear.

Yes, I always say to people that just because a new model is out, doesn't mean the previous ones become worse. If the current system does what you need, it makes sense to stay with it.
My ambassador status is set by Fujifilm UK, and ends at the end of this year.

No battery grip = NO SALE!! I photograph sports, portraits & candid assignments that often entail a complete day of shooting. A battery grip is essential for my needs. Even with the new features & upgrades that the X-T5 offers, IMHO, FUJI has “ CRIPPLED “ this camera. It seems that Fuji has adopted the CANON buisness model in enticing customers to purchase their more expensive camera line, ie., X-H2 & X-H2S. What a shame. I will continue to use my X-T3 camera bodies for the foreseeable future.🙁🙁🙁😡😡😡

wow effect on this B&W pix !! stunning
    (i have an X-T1 still)
i found a bit cheap that they did not keep the vertical battery pack grip with comfortable button on it though, and autofocus not to reach exact same as X-H2, marketing. personnaly i don't really care about video, but more for pix, i am lucky not to be too much on sport pix, but when i need it i feel like i will still struggle with a much more expensive frame than previosuly though ..!

I think the price point explains why it's not the same as the X-H2. I shot well over 2,000 images on one battery during my trip so should be OK.
