Long wait at a traffic light!

- The Tram approaching from the right has priority over everything else. But this resets the cycle back to traffic from the left getting a green light.
This results in the traffic light I'm waiting at, getting bumped down regularly.

I think that I would become a pedestrian and then switch back to being a cyclist if I had to use that route often.
I don't condone it, but when I lived in London, my commute by bike was 18 minutes. I can't remember how many sets of lights I had to cross, perhaps 6-8. I did stop at lights and perhaps it cost me 4-6 minutes over my journey. Imagine if that 2:46 happened at every light, that would mean you're sat at lights more than the amount of time you're actually moving. It's no wonder cyclists jump lights. Long waits like that really need to be sorted out to reduce the incentive. Look at it this way: what's the point of waiting for 30+ seconds if you're only going to jump the light when you get fed up at 2min 10s anyway, exactly like the Deliveroo rider did?!

Ridiculous, thought (all car drivers) it was bikes that slowed everything down, its actually cars and trams....
All for public transit having the right of way at all times but can't it just go back to where it was in the sequence lol
Exactly, most of the traffic behind me is buses.
Would be interested to know if anybody who works in the industry can explain if this is normal or a quirk / phasing error in the system?
It's a phasing error, the tram takes priority, but it resets the cycle rather than slot in.

Gaz. Out of curiosity. What do you prefer: Sram or Shimano?
I have Shimano on all my road bikes, Sram on my off road. No real preference.
@@CycleGaz Thanks gaz. Just curious because sometimes I see you doing some big shifts before coming to a stop at some lights in your videos and assumed you were commuting on a Sram equipped bike.
I admire your commitment to accurate timing, but I think that showing the tenths and hundredths might be taking it too far. This isn't Lee Valley.
It's actually frames, as it only goes to 30 ;). Just default functionality of the app I use to edit videos, and can't be arsed to work out how to remove it.
