- Friend of mine was interested in this as his first bike. He hasnt gotten his license yet but wanted to know how it rode. As always Waynes made it happen and the Svartpilen really lived up to my expectations!

I’ve owned a LOT of bikes in all shapes and sizes, but none make me smile as much as this little bike. Simple and docile enough for beginners, but reminds us long time riders just why we got into the sport in the first place.
Agreed. I’m more predisposed to ride my wife ninja 400 a lot of days vs my FZ07.
I've been riding for nigh on 30 years.... bought the Svart 401 a week ago... 160km on it... right price, right spec, love it.... and it just feels right even with me being 6'4
Your comment is how I feel about the honda grom. I put knobbies on the grom and did a ton of offroad and urban exploration it was a blast. I have a 21 svartpilen now I love it!
I bought mines this past May, I’m in LOVE with this bike!! 😄😄 Safe riding!
My buddy is really enjoying his were supposed to ride tomorrow so most likely there will be a video of it.
Best review I've seen on YT for the 401... and you're a great friend to your buddy 🤙🤙💯
He loves the bike!
When I first saw these bikes (Svart- and Vitpilen), I felt in love with the Vitpilen. But then I went to a Husqvarna-Dealer and sat on the Vitpilen and deceded in a second that this is not my bike. Half a minute later I tried the Svartpilen and knew this is the bike I want to have. For all the people who asks their self if the bike fits for persons taller than 6 feet; yes is does! Sorry for my bad English, I'm from Germany.
My friend that bought this one is about 6’1”
@@cantdowhoolies Yes, I am even 6,23! :-)
what about females about 170cm tall?
@@cantdowhoolies
What about a pillion, a wahmen?
Thanks a lot! I was looking for this kind of comment. Im 6.4, hope it fits me
I bought mine Svartpilen 250 yesterday... Nice bike, I must say. People keep on staring at it, while passing by... 😜 😁
I have this bike and love it. I went to bar end mirrors and a Akrapovic slip on and it’s about as fun as it gets. With the light weight, steep rake it reminds me a lot of a hyper Grom
80sruler my buddy is running a similar setup on his now that he’s bought it
Can you use regular gas?
Do you recommend it as a city bike?
Definitely great for that but fun for back roads too
This is awesome! I plan to get mine soon! I love the Svartpilen, and it fits me so well! Thank you for this video!
Tikamaholic most welcome! Hit the sub button if ya want. I try to release videos monthly with ride and reviews.
@@cantdowhoolies I will do so! You definitely deserve more than you have
Just got mine and LOVE it. Great bike and cool ride.
Wirelesswine super fun little bike for sure!
I am not a beginner by any means, and I just bought one. It's so much fun Even for an experienced rider.
Agreed! Small displacement bikes are stupid fun!!!
Why do you refer to and pigeonhole this just a "beginner bike"? Plenty of experienced riders appreciate a nimble and lightweight moto with modern features and styling. On a twisty road, the right pilot on a Svart would embarass most "sport bike" riders, many of whom think a CBR600 is also a good "beginner bike".
I'm guessing most people who call this a "begineer bike" ride a Harley and have truck nuts dangling off their lifted diesel 4x4. 'Merica
claytonRRoy I lol’d literally at the truck nuts comment. But in all seriousness beginner bike is NOT a derogatory term to me. It simply means the bike is docile enough for a new rider. I’m in total agreement that a great rider can mop up on a supersport owner. Believe me. I do it on my FZ from time to time.
@@cantdowhoolies Props to both a valid original comment and a graceful response. You're both right. This is a great bike.
I'm 6'2" but in love with these bikes. Do you think I would look too big on this bike? Im considering one for my first bike.
My buddy is 6’. There’s no “too big for a bike”. A fellow tuber rides a zzr6 and is around 250. Start where you feel comfortable man.
How would you compare it to the Duke 390? They're around the same price where I live, even though the Husky is said to be the more expensive/premium brother. Are they both as playful to ride?
Joran Poortstra I would say the ergonomics and styling is what separates the two. To put it short they share the same “base” and I mean that in a simplistic way of comparing them. Both are great bikes. I do like the ktm more though.
@@cantdowhoolies Thanks for your answer! Guess I'll test ride them both when the corona crisis is over. Why do you like the KTM more? Design wise you mean?
Design and body positioning. Feels a bit more aggressive to me. It was over a year ago that I rode this and the 390 for my friend that wound up buying the husky. The 390 does feel like it picks the front end up a little easier.
@@cantdowhoolies The Vitpilen has a lot of looks of the Svartpilen, but more cafe racer, and more aggressive riding position. I think I prefer the more upright Svartpilen. But don't know for sure. I'm having a hard time finding either of these bikes in the stores right now.
In Germany the Svart is actually cheaper than the Duke 390. It‘s an even easier choice here although I prefer the older 2018/19 models
Like the pillion grab rail.better rear flow lines
Excellent! Thanks for the vid!
You’re welcome!
how does it fit 2 people?
Its pretty comfortable. A touch windy but perfectly fine for 2 up
Can I ask how tall you are just would be interesting for me. :)
I’m about 5’10” with a 31” inseam.
@@cantdowhoolies in your opininion, 6’3’ height is it to small for me?
Definitely not. My buddy that bought it is 6’. I stand by my statement of riding a “slow” bike fast is more fun than riding a fast bike slow. The seating position is great on the 401 all around.
Is it good for pillion?
It can handle it well for sure
Are those tubeless tyres?
Correct. Tubeless
@@cantdowhoolies thank you for replying :)
Most welcome
@@cantdowhoolies they are NOT tubeless
Really? I could’ve sworn when my buddy that bought it got new tires they were. I stand corrected then I guess.
I test rode one of these and they are definitely cool no question about it that said they're a little on the small side go check it out but I think you'll find it to be small unless you're a shrimp you'll find it it's more for you
Hyped up ktm 390
Planning to buy its younger sibling 250 cc ... 🙂
Awesome! If it’s like the 401 you’ll love it!
@@cantdowhoolies hi is 250 is comfortable for two people
rahul pujari it’s more than possible for two up. But what speeds and what are the weights of the people. Those things play a large part.
@@rahulpujari863 buddy ... It's not out for test drive yet . But i don't think so it would be comfortable for two people to go on a long ride. 🙂 . It would be more suitable for city ride.
@@cantdowhoolies thanks for the response, hope it will be comfortable for the long rides with pillon.
60 MPH ~ 100KMH
30MPH ~ 50KMH
15MPH ~ 25KMH
Not 100% accurate... But a nice estimation
Super HD wind audio
,,,retro? From sight & description, there's nothing retro anywhere there. Great bike though, for smaller riders. I had a BSA 441 (thumper) back in the day. Maybe that was retro.
Garry Miller well I think the seat height is higher in the svartpilen 401 than BSA 441...
This is nothing of a retro bike! In fact calling this retro is like calling IKEA furniture retro!!! We know it isn’t and they are both designed in Sweden. This is a traditional motorcycle with the KTM DNA splashed all over it!
Can we find a middle ground? Reminds me of that kinda 50s futuristic retro look. Lol
I can give you that but it is somewhat futuristic
Yeah. I just didn’t convey it well but that’s the style that it trigger in my mind.
@@cantdowhoolies 50s futuristic retro exactly. You stole my words. Design is brilliant.
