Not just for beginners or city in my opinion. I’ve owned many bikes of all sizes and this bike makes me smile. An hour long ride after work through the twisty hills and dirt roads on this little bike is pure riding joy.
I've owned like every beginner bike and this is easily top 3 along with the ninja/Z400, the DRZ400SM, and this 401/390 chassis. I haven't ridden a duke but I love my 21 svartpilen.
Short but good review, thanks. I own it since six months and ride about 5.000 km, most of them in the swiss alps and it works perfectly. This in common with the killer feature „the awesome look“ makes it perfect to me. This bike is like the name of your channel. There‘s nothing to prove with it.
Wai Wong The dash is ok, not more. It shows all relevant informations, but it is with the mirrors one of the ugly parts of the bike. Rumors are saying, Husqvarna will change this in 2020 at the 701 model, maybe also on the 401.
Bought mine in June 2020. It gets me in trouble because I ride it like a bicycle, LoL. So light and fun. Highway rides are another story, but it's not made for it(still can and will, 90 mph no prob).
It's the same bike just one with a tuxedo on and the other jeans and a t-shirt. So it comes down to what do you want to put on when you get up in the morning? 😁👍
Hi, I'm choosing my first bike, the options are the Svartpilen 401 and the Icon Scrambler. How would you rate the 401 for a 15k commute on a rugged highway? I have a feeling that for the highway the Scrambler will outperform the 401. Or being a short distance(15k) that won't matter? And then when in the busy streets the 401 will outperform the Ducati. If you would please share some thoughts, I'd much appreciate it. Thanks, Víctor
Hi Victor, First you need to compare apples to apples, the 401 should not be compared to the Icon 803cc, you should look at the Vitpilen 701. That would be a better comparison. And 701 is about the same weight as the 401 and it would be better on the highway. So let's compare the 701 to the Icon, same power, same performance, weight - Icon a little heavier...30 or so kg, which is significant. Engine: Icon is a v-twin vs. 701/401 single so a twin is smoother and better sounding Weight: Icon = 30kg more so not as good in the city but better on highway Looks: I personally like the Icon better but that is subjective Cost: 701 & Icon are the same cost, 401 is 3k cheaper than both For the money I'd take the Icon for what you are talking about but if you want to save 3k then get the 401. Ride safe, Scott
Hello, me also finally bought a new Svartpilen 401. Overall, I am very excited about it, but I still have noticed one little problem: the “balance” of the motorcycle. - When I ride straight on the road and lift my hands from the handlebars, the motorcycle starts to pull slightly to the right ... Considering that the motorcycle is brand new, from the store, I find it a little unusual that the center of gravity is out of balance. Have any of you had a similar problem? Please for any advice or your experience .. Thank you very much, Jurij
I didn't appreciate this bike at the time of its first appearance. Thought it's pure crap, just because the pictures were crap and not very well done. But by now I love those two, Svart- and the Vitpilen as well, even though I would love to see a straight handle bar on the Vitpilen too. But that's not part of its purpose, right? Great video again! 👍
Thanks Simon! Yea, after looking at the 701 & 401 for over a year now, the looks are growing on me...so to speak. Now when I see them I no longer say, "yuck", to now I say..."hmm"..."interesting." BTW, the bike looks much better in person, I agree with you on the pictures, the pictures don't do this bike justice. Tschüss, Scott
The concept pictures were explosive! That was the moment I realise I want this independent of how it rides! And that time I've never sat on the bike. And Vitpilen for me was more attractive. Now I've sat on the bike, I've passed the exams and have the "A" license. Now I think Svartpilen suits me better. Because of my diesel long distance driving style: how I drive the car - the bike drive should be similar. Only feature stopping me from bying Svartpilen is the lack of space for bag(s) on the rear. Cause my needs are to drive some hundreds kilometers one way by job or many hundreds by heart. I'm afraid this bike is to small for it. Greetings from Moscow! Great channel! First time seen today and went into favs. Feel the same state of mind. =) Thank you!
Semantics. I spent over 25 years in the American automotive industry and of those 25 years I spent 10 years at Ford Motor Company in Dearborn & Livonia Michigan. When I was at the Livonia Transmission Plant (specifically ATNPC) is where this "slang" came into being. Both words are spoken and in casual conversation most of the time you'd hear just "Chase" simply because it is quicker to say. So don't blame me, blame Ford for tainting me, just try to get me to describe some transmission parts...LOL! Now that's where you'll really hear some "slang."

After doing a ton of research I just bought the 2020 Svart 401. This review sealed it for me, love all your reviews. Can't wait to pick up the bike!
Can you please tell me if the tyres are tubeless or not? I've been trying to find out from sometime now
@@vijayurs568 Tubeless, at least they are in 2020.
Please update? How do you like it?

How's the dash? It seems too small to hold all that information?

Do you ride the 401 or 701? Just wondering if the small one’s fast enough for Canadian roads. We average speeds of 100-120km/hr
ashrafc i own and ride the 401, topspeed is 160 km/h and its comfortable to do it with 110-120 km/h
Greg, what is actual km/L on your 401?
City vs open road
wow.. the countryside you ride it through... was too good! Enjoy!!
Tall people can ride this. Mean 5'11". Long ride and adventure 17000 feet height. Pls need ur suggestion

Which would you pick. Husqvarna 401 or Duke 390 for commuting, a touch of motorway & loads of twistes?

NothingToProve heh heh. Yeah I know. Just curious as to which one you would pick.

Do you really feel that 45% cost increase between bikes?

@@NothingToProve Thanks again for helping me make a better and informed choice.
Danke fürs uploaden. Ich fahre das Bike seit 2500km. Soviel Spaß für das Geld. Tolles Bike... Mit Schriewer bin ich aber nicht so zufrieden.
It's a Duke in new clothes of course it's good.
Wonderful reviews, appreciate your efforts, thanks from Ukraine!
While Citroen CV2 is called Duck, I would say this bike is the Chicken.
Good review Scott.

Single disc if Efficient better than twin discs less weight 😊
Great Review. It was Perfect. Need this bike in India.
Coming in Feb 2020
250 cc launched in India
what you need in India is soap. And contraception.
Nice style.
I love ❤️ it
Shit, now I have to become a hipster to get this bike... ;)
