I agree on most issues you talked about. Build quality, fitment, small tank, need for a fuel controller, etc.
My nearest dealer is 4 hours away. Luckily I know how to work on bikes.
That being said, I love my Svart and will repair it as needed.

With these bikes, I think it’s pretty much mandatory you have at least some tools and mechanical skills. Otherwise you’ll never get to ride your bike, it’ll just be at the dealer constantly. Cheers. 👍🏽.

Just bought a Svartpilen 401. Appreciate your perspective on ownership. That said, "why you shouldn't buy one" is misleadingly alarmist. Since most of your headaches are based on either minor aesthetics or poor availability of Asian aftermarket bits, I feel confident I've made a solid choice. Interesting you bothered to fish for a few more horsepower instead of leaving it stock, seeing as you have other mega-high-horsepower choices in the garage. Anyway, thank you for the vid.

    • @ridewithKY
      @ridewithKY  Рік тому +2

The point of this video was to bring attention to my personal experiences. What’s minor to you may not be minor to others. I am fortunate that I have the ability to fix this bike on my own because I have the space, tools, and knowledge (although I’m no expert). Not everybody has that option and not everybody has a dealer within a reasonable distance. I’m sure you’ve noticed there aren’t many Husq dealers and not all KTM dealers will service these.
So just because I have other high horsepower options means I shouldn’t bother maximizing the performance of this Husqvarna? Not sure where you were going with that last statement.
Appreciate the view and the comment, thanks.

I mean yeah you definitely click baited this. Also it seems that your opinion is based only on your experience and the way you do your video is as if it’s all or every there is to know
To me it just like mid-low class handling and the wear you put on your bike.
When it came to the to the esthetics especially
Also compared to the 10-50-100 videos from new riders to old. Your mechanical issues are sparse after looking specifically into your claims…
So yeah maybe here and there but literally one of the only videos with these claims is yours. With all others having honest reviews with 1 year plus or under . Having great reviews.
Seems to me your video should be “my experience” not “don’t buy this”
Super click bait and with looking up your claims seems a lack of integrity mixed with a shot at getting views as the only one to be like DONT BUY THIS. Especially since you have all that high tier vehicle option sitting around.
Appreciate it if you want to be like hey here’s what to look for and my experience. But the video title and your method of explaining is and end all one. For the bike you’re talking about and the comparative videos of other UA-camrs.
Thanks for the points (as I’m taking it) for red flags
Just pointing out to you and others that there is a clear lack of integrity in my opinion here for the most of this particular video.

@ShabazzMuhammad-qx5ib So you don't like that I based an opinion on personal experience? This is in comparison to what? Basing an opinion on other's experience? LOL.
If you had experience with these bikes you would know these aesthetic issues are common, you should read the rest of the comments in this video. My experience is not a unique one.
You should also do more research on your own. Reddit is filled with similar issues with these bikes. Just because some UA-camr who was supplied a Vitpilen/Svartpilen for a week from Husqvarna to review says it's a great bike, doesn't mean it's problem free. When is the last time you saw a motorcycle reviewer give a bad review on a bike?
Sorry man but you don't know what you are talking about. You reference a lack of integrity when I've clearly showed in this video where the problem areas are. It is on video... So you are forming an opinion based on anecdotes rather than a video where you are shown what the issues are.

    • @ridewithKY
      @ridewithKY  3 місяці тому

@@metaldreams3595 Don't bother. Somebody like the original commenter will only tell you it's great to justify their purchase. They'll conveniently leave out the obvious issues with these. Doesn't mean they are a bad bike, but to say they are problem free is ridiculous. Then people will defer back to the fact that they've never seen a bad review for these bikes, but leave out the fact they've probably never seen a bad review on a bike. Seriously, on UA-cam when is the last time you've seen a bad review on a bike?

  • @metaldreams3595

Some valid points for those who are thinking about buying one.
    And I like this guy.
The price of these things. For the most unique motorcycle and coolest looking bike anyones dared to offer I cant believe we get it for the price we do. $5300 OTD right now for 2023s...
But I have to mention...the fitment and cosmetic things hes pointing out...in my mind its really unfair almost ridiculous.
I mean...what do people expect to get for the cheapest top tier name brand 400 you can buy? Im with him on somenof these things being annoying but just keep things in perspective folks. If those fitment issues are now important to you go look at other bikes fitment. If you look close youre gonna find issues for 300 cc bikes that cost $2000 more.
Lastly, idk if none of them have experienced these things or they consider them to be kinda nothing to note but Ive watched a ton of videos and guys dont mention this stuff at all.

    • @ridewithKY
      @ridewithKY  8 місяців тому

Appreciate your perspective and I agree these bikes are very aesthetically unique and are offered at a very fair price. As I’ve alluded to many times before, there’s not another motorcycle in this category I would rather have. Now of course we have the RS457, but we haven’t really seen what those will truly be like.
I will disagree that pointing out cosmetic issues is ridiculous. Of course we have to consider the price point, but it would be irresponsible for me to be aware of obvious flaws and just ignore them. It doesn’t mean an individual shouldn’t buy a Vitpilen because of the poor fit and finish. I point out what I see and leave it up to the viewer to make the determination as to whether they care enough to allow it to influence their purchasing decision. Beyond that point, how do we expect these products to get better if the owners don’t acknowledge and point out obvious fitment defects? As consumers we should expect the best product possible.
Just because other owners don’t report these issues doesn’t mean they don’t exist. I clearly show in the video that there are obvious issues with the finishing on these bikes. I provide a visual so potential buyers can see what’s wrong with mine and decide for themselves if they care about that enough to not purchase one. Motorcycling is like many other hobbies where people have to justify their purchases. You’ll find in many hobbies people refuse to accept reality and won’t admit their purchase has some significant flaws. Now, that doesn’t mean an individual can’t enjoy their purchase despite its flaws. I’ve enjoyed this purchase very much, however, it’d be disingenuous for me to know about obvious issues with these bikes and just purposely not mention it.
Thank you again for your perspective. Healthy and productive disagreement is a good thing and certainly helps others. If we all agreed on everything, we’d never improve.

Hi KY. The only changes I've made to my '22 Vit are mirror extenders and swingarm spools. The original mirrors are funky but I see them as part of the overall design, and, I haven't noticed that they are blurry. LED turn signals look better but I have some doubts about their visibility. It's probably a case of ignorance is bliss but I think my bike runs just fine, bone stock.

I agree with the chain stretching (factory fitted chains are crap), the display issues also are common, the center panel on the fuel tank is bending due to too tight/loose screws. The engine stalls might be related to gas quality, go for super premium fuel and good gas stations.

Have to say my MY2018 seems to be holding up really well and fit and finish is fine…or what I’d expect of a moto of this price , believe me here in the UK the amount of Yamaha MT or Suzuki owners would kill for our build quality 😂😂 at a price point of course..
I’m from an off-road background so just see this a more road based Supermoto/Urban trail and I’m fine with it’s idiosyncratic nature..
It rides REALLY well, rides light and flickable which I really enjoy , my last bike was a KTM 690 duke and although I miss the power I would say the husky is on par handling wise, possibly not grip ( mines a Svartpilen)
I’ve switched out parts for “performance “ parts but who am I kidding ..it’s 370 odd cc single ..
I just thrash the tits of it everywhere and gets sooo many comments , whether negative or positive on its looks ..I don’t care ..it cost me 1900 quid !

It seemed like the older 401’s had a little better fit and finish but of course the older 401’s had more mechanical issues. Mostly with head gaskets. The newer 401’s were better but there’s still some well documented cases of head gasket issues with the later 401’s.

Not everybody has time to take their bike to the dealer every other week. Some owners may not even have a dealer within a few hours of their residence. There are also many instances where you may not be able to get an appointment at your local dealer for weeks/months. Regardless, the point is to bring light to these issues and let the viewer decide how they would handle it should their experience be the same.

Haha. Great video - thanks for pointing out all the things to keep an eye on here. Appreciate the experience and effort to share with us.
I just picked up my first bike - a new to me 2023 Svartpilen with 114 miles on it. Right out of the gate, had overheating issues. The bike temp would max out after about 15 minutes of riding.
Spent a few hours “fixing” the coolant system & dealing with the thermostat. Ended up deleting the thermostat, and now it is working/running fine.
PITA on a new bike, but kinda cool that I could fix it on my own without going to the dealer 2 hrs away.

I didn't notice cosmetic issues, 2021 svartpilen. However, I also had chain issues you mentioned. Also easily spent a thousand+ dollars for mods, to get it to a point it was daily commutable. Each part was $100+, but they were all aftermarket, so its sunk cost.
Oil changes are super frequent 1.5k miles. I do lot of miles, so that might be the issue. Anyway, I got a bigger bike as a commuter, since I felt like I'm pushing this little bike too hard with my commutes. It is a fun bike though and its been a good experience.

If you don’t just do the most expensive purchase option like most people don’t. You’re sitting well under 7k… you’re the absolute first person from CA who said that.
Expressing it’s for you particularly is imperative. Misleading and discouraging many new or interested riders right out the gate. Because again your tone, title , and wordage are very “I know what I’m talking about this happens with most if not all of them guys. Every has this happen no it’s not just my specific one or a few I see them all the time.”
You’d probably be maybe near that 7k by doing everything you said needs to get done.
Also just your opinion as many many many other videos express 1/2 what you are saying is needed.
Who actually are mechanics and or avid riders like you.
Again you are a big spending sounding rider as you make it sound.
Again this is a very misleading video for people who aren’t in your shoes.
Ending it with this is my opinion and I’m not telling what to do. When you probably should have started with that. Instead doing just that until the end.
Without taking responsibility for possibly unreasonable expectations or purchasing choices you’ve made by choice or had to make because where you live. Recognizing throughout the video it’s your experience and why.
It’s just feel’s misleading and frustrating , your method for this video. Respectfully. Hope you do it differently next time.

Not sure how sharing my experience displays a lack of integrity or is misleading. Lol. You might need to get out on 2 wheels a little more so you can relax. It’s just an informational video, no need for personal attacks. Take care.
