For 10 years I forgot about monitors and use the TV for gaming. I have a wireless keyboard and mouse as well as a wireless joystick. I don't want to go back to a monitor. It just worries me not to burn the OLED TV with the task bars of the browsers.

AW3423DW QD-OLED 34 inch ultrawide, that's what I been rocking since May 2022 and I will never go back. Got me S90D 65 because QD-OLED is king.
Watched Dune 1&2 also Matrix in 4K HDR on the S90D in 5.1 surround sound......... WOW the picture with the sound! Beyond incredible.

Refresh rates are higher on monitors. Your probably not going to get 360hz on most games, but if your a competitive gamer there are some titles that will hit that and the responsive of the panel follows. Also with frame gen i blow past my 175hz refresh on my oled causing frame tearing as Gsync disengages.
42 inches is the smallest tv size and its only available in WOLED. That is pretty big size for a pc monitor.
There isn't any qd oled tv's that are below 42 inches. Its all WOLED.
Also you get things much more tailored for pc gaming. Ultrawide 21:9 with a 1440p monitor. Getting a wide FOV and the sweet spot between 1080 and 4k. The extra pixels on the 21:9 is nice in the desktop environment.
The tv is definitely the better bang for buck. I like watching content on my monitor, but miss the processing features of the higher end sets. Watching video content on PC can be "flat". I have a samsung mini led and just prefer the better processing, especially if your watching lower bit rate content. Monitors don't "smooth" the missing data they can be harsh.
There are things like Auto HDR that sometimes works well, but is often a miss.

I just switched to an LG C4 42 inch as my monitor. I’m a software developer by day and a hard core console gamer by night. Picture is amazing! W-OLED still looks amazing especially at that size.

Rocking a C3 42" right now. Monitors don't make sense. Best of monitors start at $1500 and that is what a 55 Samsung 90D costs. Think I would figure out a way to make the 55" 90D fit than pay for monitor.

    I am a PC gamer with two 65" 4k 144hz QD-OLED Samsung S90C and S95D TVs.
I am not going larger than 65" until 8k becomes the new 4k. I sit too close to my TVs.

My Mac has a monitor, but I barely use it. I’m often just sharing my screen over to my Apple TV, 4K which runs off my Samsung S90D QDOLED. The only time I usually look at the monitor is when I’m video editing because often times I need to look at the screen closer other than that TV is definitely a better computer experience.

Monitor use to be the best....but something happen around late 2017...when they decide to sacrifice everything just for the sake of "Hertz " and response time....sure 460 hz is now a possibility...but oh my God the Colors looks horrible, the contrast on these monitors panel are disgraceful....specially on laptops

Great video! This is something ive been pondering for quite a while now myself. I recently switched from ps5 and built a gaming rig with a 4080. Its currently connected to a widescreen 2560 x 1080 resolution 200hz monitor and i honestly have no complaints. But I do have a 55 inch LG C2 Oled sitting on my tv stand not getting much use now and have been really thinking of using it as my main Gaming pc monitor. Just trying to find a comfortable way of using it. I do have a wireless mouse and keyboard so really all I have to do is just connect it to my tv. I think ill do just and see how my experience is.

  • @marenas32

Depends on what you play. If you play nothing but adventure type games then yes go for the TV. However if you’re into shooters COD, Battlefield, Apex the monitor is the better choice because of input lag. My LG C1 doesn’t feel as snappy as my LG gaming monitor. Also PC can absolutely run COD and other shooters at 240hz and higher. If you’re competitive the monitor is the choice..

Hard choice for me, i picked up a 4k monitor thinking it was a deal and couldn't use it at 120hz like it even matters with how its locked on console. Newest one is 1440p and i love the PD but cod games that were new had all sorts of problem's at "120" Mauer Der Toten. The tv looks great at 4k on the lower end of tvs. But theres nothing competitive with FPS now with mod packs aka cheaters. I have been wanting to use my pc on my tv for the VR which would probably be overtaken as the primary. But i like the switch up PD on smaller better RT not like that matters for competitive. Or on what is to me a nice 65 in 4k tv that still has a very good rt and is comparable.

Reasons to choose monitor over tv:
    1. Desktop gaming with keyboard and mouse. Its near impossible to play shooters in bed with a keyboard and mouse. (Playing online shooter with gamepad sucks) And adding a large rv 30cm in front of you is silly.
    2. Curved monitors
    3. Ultrawide aspect ratio monitors
