It seems to me that this is all because of coof. People started seeing each other less often and seeing women less often. Although it was relatively short-lived, it was enough to influence people, especially those who were terminally online. Such people rarely see women in person, so it’s easier for them to believe such nonsense. Personally, I was very surprised when, after isolation, I saw a young nurse. Her neck was so thin that the thought flashed through my head: “No one, seeing such a neck in front of them, will believe in Twatter bs.” P.S. Some creators now with are ironic fans of androgynous chicks. This plays into women's jealousy and envy to other woman.
Well, we haven't really fully recovered from the coof's anti-social effects. Wearing masks in public was normalized (I still see people doing it, even alone in their cars). Not a fan of the censorship but I prefer the direction frontiers went. Basically all sonics friends realizing they want to do things away from Sonic, get tails back on his SA2 character, give knuckles his own game and Amy to realize love sonic but get interest other than that. Keep Amy interested hut just change it to like where she tries other methods but he still does not care
They're also alienating people who could relate to Sonic's situation. Asexuals and gays in particular are a minority group that heavily relates to Sonic in those interactions.
A little unknown fact but in a Sonic Heroes or Sonic Unleashed/World Adventure era interview, Sonic Team revealed Sonic did love Amy, he was just shy (and it's even hinted that in The Black Knight, he was on his way to take her out on a date before the events of the game as shown with him having two chilli dogs and the two talking at the end of the game). Blame Soy Boy Flynn for a lot of the changes

They completely altered a scene and dialogue to pander to women. This is not censorship, censorship is to remove or obscure content that is deemed "harmful" in nature. *This is propaganda,* not "censorship"...
The reason why Sonic did this to Amy in the original release is because of how Amy was and because of her personality so he actually had a reason to do this and it added a funny comedic moment. Anyone who played the Sonic games know about this. This sort of reminds me when an item called "Wirt's Third Leg" was removed from World of Warcraft because a clueless person thought it had something to do with a male organ, whereas in reality the reason it was named "Wirt's Third Leg" is because it's the third time this leg makes a cameo in Blizzard games, the previous 2 times were in Warcraft 3 and Diablo 2.
Reminded me of when they renamed “The Nicker” to “The Blackrock Slicer” and it changed nothing because trade chat just kept on using Blackrock Slicer as a euphemism for the gamer word
I don't play Sonic games, can't say I ever cared for the franchise, but even I know that's just Amy's character. Just goes to show how deep in the industry the tourists are influencing things.
If you take away Amy being obsessed with Sonic, there is no reason for her to go on adventures. She isn’t fast like Sonic, she’s not as strong as knuckles and she’s not as smart as tails. Why would she go on an adventure? It was always because she tagged along to be near Sonic. If she isn’t in love with Sonic anymore why would she put herself in danger?
They are unironically making Amy the "just girl" they whined that was what her character was. Ian Flynn hates writing Sonic characters and makes his ocs centere stage all the time.
@@MaverickhunterXZero That's not true, Ian Flynn has written the Sonic characters well plenty of times in the comics, gave Sonic emotion, and such. The sad thing about this is: wasn't Capcom the one who did that whole gamers survey just a couple months back that found out that their customers didn't give 2 squirts about DEI?
A short story on the topic. In the Soviet Union there was a similar puritanism regarding sex, so my aunt's female colleague was very naive and clueless on the topic. So clueless and naive that when the guy invited her to “go out,” the girl agreed without understanding what he meant, then a couple of minutes later she ran out of the bushes, scared. This is because she avoided the topic of sex for so long that when faced with it in life, she didn’t know what to do about it. I think this has happened to many Western women. Although the culture seems much more liberal sexually, it is only in terms of different ways for sex, not but socially. Women are literally taught to fear men, which is why they are so tense and unsatisfied.
From what I've heard from my parents who lived during the late Soviet Union era, the puritanism was largely relegated to media on TV and such. People at large knew about sex and they even flinged various jokes to each other which involved the topic in various subtle and hilarious ways. Similarly, people in the Soviet Union were fairly religious as well despite the attempts to completely stomp it out by the government... Old habits and hope die last, I suppose. At least that's how it all was just a couple of decades or so before the Soviet Union collapsed.
@@superplayerex2431, I wasn't talking about everyone in that era (around the 80s, given my aunt's age), but rather about some individuals like that girl who were clueless and naive. But this story reminded me of the modern feminist tripe, when even a glance and a question are considered offend.
Doesn't help when they're able to benefit from being afraid of men and the stigma that exists about men. In the west, courts always believe women unless there's irrefutable proof of her being in the wrong in the situation, otherwise the man is 90% likely to be convicted of whatever she's charging him with.

@@LoliconSamalik Sonic Mania helped though. It was a great game. And I hate how people call it a "fan game," because Christian Whitehead a former fan game maker made it. (Who is now a professional game maker look at "Penny's Big Breakaway") Which is ironic because Sega was still involved and it was their idea to make it. So it's still an official Sega game too.
It's not like Sonic has ever had super strong storytelling. I'm not up to date on everything, but it's not like Sonic's writing has been that great in recent years. And no, it wasn't 'wokeness' that ruined the writing. If there was any wokeness, it either wasn't noticeable or was pushed aside because there were bigger issues. Sonic has been a damaged brand for a long time, so using it as a vehicle for anything would be a foolish. But with all that said, this was bound to happen eventually. Keep in mind that SEGA commented on Roe V. Wade, basically saying they'd help employees get ab-rtions in other states. They even promoted Planned Parenthood, despite its founder being an anti-bl-ack r-cist that established it as a form of e-genics.
The only reason Sonic pushes Amy off like that in Generations is because she gets too grabby trying to hug him without permission and he doesn't tolerate it, she's trying to invade his personal space so he pushes her off - he only acts like that when she's in her obsessive mode towards him, an appropriate response to an unwanted grabby advance; it's not like he bullies her all the time, he does respect her when she's behaving in a mature way and not glomping onto him all the time, he's only rude when she's rude in order to show her he's not going to accept this behaviour. Reverse the roles and nobody would complain because Sonic would be a creeper being put in his place, but when it's a girl doing it to a guy, he's just supposed to tolerate her inappropriate fangirling towards him - unless they actually changed it so that Amy isn't as obsessed with Sonic as before like she is nowadays, then this change doesn't make sense (not that there was any need to change it in the first place.) It's a proverbial inches and miles situation, nothing was wrong with this cutscene unless SEGA were really wanting to rewrite their history of the relationship Sonic and Amy have to make her less obsessive.
Buddy, she was just trying to hug him on his birthday. What exactly is so clingy about that? I don't doubt that SOME people would call it creepy if the roles were reversed but those people are overly sensitive & no matter if the roles were reversed, you'd still come off looking like a real prat if you react the same way Sonic did. This is indeed a real joke featured in the Sonic Boom cartoon. The humor and writing quality for the jokes is probably the only good aspect of it that made the show memorable, if you ask me.
From what I’ve heard, the stuff with Amy doesn’t have anything to do with PC censorship. The change was apparently done in an effort to make her character more likable and tone down her more obnoxious character traits seen in prior games. A lot of fans (not all of them, but still a sizable amount) grew to despise Amy’s depiction in the post-Dreamcast games and the change was done in an effort to appeal to their tastes.
I believe this. Over the years I’ve heard people complain about Amy’s crush on Sonic. Doesn’t help when Sonic X, Sonic Battle, and Sonic Rush flanderized her character in those scenarios that people believed that was all to her character. I even personally blame Death Battle too been overstating how crazy her love for Sonic was. And unfortunately, in this case, SEGA listens to their fans. So, they think they’re doing a good thing by toning down Amy’s character but really kills her dynamic with Sonic and vice versa. And I believe SEGA is trying to move away from romance in general nowadays with Sonic. Ian isn’t the real problem. It’s the fans voicing bad takes and SEGA hearing them and their weird Sonic Bible.
I can believe this as being the real reason for this odd change as well. I really do hope it is the actual reason behind this change so I’m not just constantly assuming the worst. Amy’s obsession with Sonic has typically been the main thing that Sonic fans have complained about for years when it comes to her character. Considering how responsive Sega is to their community now and have become more aware of how Sonic fans view the series and its characters, it’s only logical that they would respond by toning down on aspects that get constantly criticized by fans, whether it’s for better or for worse.
Sonic fans only have themselves to blame... Personally, I never had an issue with Amy, and I kinda dislike they're taking away her cute comical aspects, and getting rid of her comical crush on Sonic. Now she just feels like "the girl character who just stands there, and occasionally helps fight."

Is it entirely no content also no. Most Sonic fans are excited for the Shadow campaign.
The main question is if its at sega's behest or Ian Flyn, the new head writer. Im pretty sure its the latter too as Ian has expressed interest in changing Amy's character before. Finding her affection towards sonic "outdated" he even wants to change her design/outfit but sega hasn't let him.
Ian Flynn is a hack. He didn't even know Chaos Control allows you to teleport. No wonder he picked Arin Hanson as a Sonic embassador. They both hate the series.
@@MaverickhunterXZero That's bull, Ian used Chaos control in the Sonic comics before, something tells me you guys never read his comics, or are confusing him with Ken Penders. @beauwalker9820 Then explain in the Shadow short, he couldn't teleport. Seems like a contradiction there. Also, he was known the main writer, and people clambered about, yet had no impact. Then why is he there in the first place?

I'm pretty sure this is part of Ian Flynn's pivot to changing the way Sonic characters are portrayed since he has been rewriting a lot of their aspects. Unlike the original Sonic Generations in that same cutscene, Knuckles also doesn't get knocked into the tree by Amy, so she is definitely not the only one who got the boot on characterization. Whether or not it's DEI fueled is unknown to me, though. Ian Flynn's writing in general is just terrible and his changes to the characterizations of Sonic characters aren't at all positive, especially since he didn't give any of them fleshed out character arcs that would warrant such changes in the first place, even if the original Sonic Generations writing wasn't good either. I personally think it's more of an Ian Flynn problem than anything else. Though, if you want to gawk at a DEI aspect in this game, you can look at Rouge and how they made her design even less sexualized. Just compare the original and remaster cutscenes back to back and you'll see what I'm talking about.
@@superplayerex2431 is Ian even involved in the game? His comics he gave the characters emotion and personality, so I don't know what you're talking about. I don't think this is his doing, as honestly writers for licensed series don't have absolute power to do whatever they want with it. And if you ever saw Ian's older comics (before Sega started limiting what he can do more after the Penders lawsuits incident) Ian gave the Sonic characters plenty of personality, kept Amy's comical aspects, fleshed characters out (like giving the Babylon Rogues and Bean a bit more sibtle backstory to the Battlebird Armada, and Big the cat ties to the cat tribe) so I think you're kinda wrongly blaming him for the editor's and higher ups. Also Ian didn't write Sonic Frontier's story, he just did the english dialogue.
@@beauwalker9820 Yes, Ian Flynn did write Sonic Frontiers' story. Quite a number of plot elements for lore and all of the character portrayals are his. Sonic Frontiers is actually the first Sonic game to be written in English first and then localized to Japanese second. If you play the Japanese version, you'll quickly realize it only covers localization for the dialogues in the main story cutscenes and none of the side or DLC cutscenes since it was never properly finished and the reception to the writing made them pivot towards localizing the original English script to Japanese more closely (the bits of that Japanese localization that are unique are actually quite a bit better despite the very rough unfinished state they're in). I will admit that earlier Archie comics had better character emotions and personalities, but it wasn't particularly well written either... It was mostly okay, though. Ian Flynn took more of a centerpiece in the Archie reboot comic and that one was just awful filled with nothing but constant nonsensical fights between Sonic characters that happened for no reason other than that they just really needed to fight each other. That entire comic's story makes no sense and there's no character arcs whatsoever, it's almost like Ian was ripping off aspects of Dragon Ball writing and battles without understanding what makes those tick. In comparison, the Metal Virus comic was essentially a retread of this with how reused the story structures are.
To keep with your previous analogies, this is like someone invited to your home asking "where's the kitchen?" You know what this is about and don't have to wait until they are squating over your table before you want to kick them out.
Honestly Sega was so close. They canceled Hyenas and slapped the guys at Creative Assembly. The finally got the Sonic franchise back on track with the Movies and Frontiers. The Shadow portion of this game is awesome. But they just had to face plant at the last moment. Honestly the only reason I'm not madder is that the modders will likely have the censorship removed with in the month.
Generations originally had a lot of complaints over how dumbed down the writing seemed to be in spite of there being pretty much no story beyond the initial premise - it was a different time for the Sonic fanbase, 2013 hadn't happened yet. SEGA top brass have been VERY involved with the writing for the Sonic franchise since 2017, following the past nightmares that Ken Penders created for them. The biggest change the franchise has seen since then is trying to make Amy less of a one-note fangirl over Sonic. I can see a legit profitable move there to give a potential young girl audience a character that could draw them in, while also making her less of an annoyance to young boys... I say from having been 10 years old in the past. I never played the Adventure games until adulthood, so Heroes was my intro to Amy. The real problems come with them actively tweaking Rouge's outfit so her back is far less exposed - for those who haven't seen it, the rim of her suit now clips straight through the middle of her wings. Ian Flynn whose the head guy for writing Sonic nowadays gets a lot of flack for any creative decision made, but he's been very open that anything he writes and makes it out to the public is gone over with a fine-tooth comb by the head-honchos at SEGA. Am I happy about these changes? - The Amy stuff? I get it, though fiddling with what is still a remaster isn't the smartest decision. - Small dialogue changes to specifically smarten up the characters to match how they're depicted in other titles? Okay. - Small dialogue changes to remove some bite or banter? That's bad. - Rouge's outfit. They changed her design in 2004 only to end up making an even more sexualised outfit, so reverted back to her original iconic outit. They know they can't get away with putting her in something else... that does not make overt attempts to make 4Kids level edits acceptable.
There may have been a time that the remasters were exciting, but those days are LONG gone. In most cases they don't even raise the poly count, so you could get your "remaster" by just running an emulator at max settings. Just play the originals anyway, they're FINE.
The Sonic Generations "remaster" literally looks almost identical to the original game, the only reason you'd want to get it over the original is to play the new content centered around Shadow that they've added into it. Though, it's not like you have much of a choice in terms of spending your money on a video game since the original Sonic Generations was delisted from all the digital stores. The only way to get it now is through bundles of multiple games.
Not everyone plays on PC. Or has any interest in PC. And Sonic Generations at a higher framerate on Xbox was delisted digitally. I guess you could still get the disc. But digital wise it's gone.

Amy being clingy and Sonic not interested was a nice dynamic.
They destroyed a whole part of both characters by neutering that dynamic.
But the real moral of the story is that Sonic is pulling a fast one by playing the long game. He has blue balls.
Western sonic changed that dynamic with sonic boom and then sonic prime followed suit. Ppl praised for that change

They did notice it... The majority of Sonic fans ARE these woke terrorists...
i hate modern gaming with all of my soul.
They really are just removing every single one of Amy's personality traits.
Reverse the roles and nobody would complain because Sonic would be a creeper being put in his place, but when it's a girl doing it to a guy, he's just supposed to tolerate her inappropriate fangirling towards him - unless they actually changed it so that Amy isn't as obsessed with Sonic as before like she is nowadays, then this change doesn't make sense (not that there was any need to change it in the first place.)
It's a proverbial inches and miles situation, nothing was wrong with this cutscene unless SEGA were really wanting to rewrite their history of the relationship Sonic and Amy have to make her less obsessive.

When has censorship _fucking EVER_ pleased anyone? When?
Even the "WhY dO yOu cArE?" Crowd weren't calling for this type of stuff to be censored.
We are going back to 4Kids levels of censorship
We've passed them, and people are starting to look back at those days fondly.
@@beauwalker9820 Agreed.

I honestly hate the fact that sonic generations got rewritten. Not specifically for this reason but because it wasn't necessary like the story was in no way peak cinema but wasn't horrible either and was more of a game you played for the gameplay. At least the original exists

Sonic Generations is one of the few things that still IS available to begin with. Even if only in a boundle, that is still progress.
The only aspect that may have needed to be re-written was Shadow's inclusion. And that's fair since they added an entire new game to run parralell to the events.
of all the games that could have been censored this year, I didn't expect Sonic Generations to be one of them. SEGA lost the plot entirely.
People don't get it because they don't want to get it, it doesn't matter how small or miniscule the censorship is, it's the censorship itself that is the problem, it's the mindset, the thought process the fact that someone in the creative process gave time to change something for a group of people who are humourless miserable and often confused people

@beauwalker9820 Then explain in the Shadow short, he couldn't teleport. Seems like a contradiction there.
Also, he was known the main writer, and people clambered about, yet had no impact. Then why is he there in the first place?

Oversensitivity to criticism and humor is usually an indication of extreme insecurity and low self-esteem.
At this point bring back Pontac and Graff as the writers.
@@legoclayface so you want bad jokes every 5 seconds?
@@legoclayface Screw both, get Shiro Maekawa, the guy who wrote Black Knight.
