I have always loved so much of all of the music of Charlie Daniels, but " Caballo Diablo" is one of my absolute favorites. Seems to me that many fans of CDB have never heard of this exquisite tale in song form.
Woo wee, that’s good stuff there, that’s heavy. One of my favorites by CDB fer shur. And Call up Trudy on the telly phone send her a letter in the mail 🎶🎻🎸
Saw them twice. '78 and '99 or 2000. The man knew how to put on a show! Saw some wild horses today, bowfishing in the desert. Thought of this great song!
Not just my favorite CDB song, but probably my favorite southern rock song. If I listen to Whippin' Post or The Ballad of Curtis Leow, they might take over for a minute, but this one is always in the conversation.
You are so right! I saw Charlie Daniels and his band for the first time back in 1979 and he and the rest of his band could play a variety of musical styles.
If you want to hear Charlie and the boys float through a few different musical styles check out Rainbow Ride on Million Mile Reflections. ua-cam.com/video/3CFcaikZaEY/v-deo.html
So broken-hearted he my favorite singer for years listen to him since 1973 cousin Bobby Billy Bob Saxon turn them on to me and we first time went to Houston to see pollution 1973 I love the song started off with Elwood Down to Georgia God bless you
The CDB also opened for Skynyrd in Wichita, KS in April 1975. I still call it one of the top 2 concerts I ever saw. And I have to say that the CDB stole that show from Lynyrd Skynyrd. Had the girls literally dancing in their chairs when the fiddle came out. RIP Charlie. You gave me untold hundreds (thousands?) of hours of good times listening to your early southern rock music!
Unbelievable performance...CDs singing..and the twin guitar attack..The horns....Performance that gives the audience all that it could possibly want...Only wish I'd been there! What a band...
Out looking at wild mustangs last Saturday and thought of this amazing song again. Hadn't thought of it in years. So now I just hadn't to listen. Wish I could post a photo or two of the mustangs.
Holy sh!t! I have just started really listening to these guys (after decades of knowing the hits). This song is incredible and this version is off the charts. Wow. Thanks for posting. Truly made my day.
Loved this tune 40 years ago- even better now! Go CDB!!! Next to Long Haired country Boy, my 2nd favorite - though its a tight list of- what- at least 20 vying for #1(much less the runners up). GO Charlie!!
I'm hoping someone can help me with a video that seems to have vanished from utube. Charlie Daniel's black and white full concert, he had girls dancing in parts of the concert but he played his opening song and I believe said good evening new jersey we are the charlie daniels band from Mt juliet TN and it's Saturday night ain't it! If I remember anyways ya disappeared thanx anyone who might see this and help me
There do not seem to be any mountains named Blanca Serra Madre; do the lyrics "The outlaw of Blanca Serra Madre" refer to the Serra Madre, or Serra Blanca, or something else?
There's Sierra Blanca in Southern New Mexico but it's not near the Sierra Madre mountain range in Western Mexico. Charlie spent a lot of time in Southern Texas and in Mexico when he was younger. This may be a conglomeration of both mountains to make one and make it fit the song.
big boy so, really? Are you so narrow minded that you cannot separate the artist from the art? What might happen to Hollywierd if conservatives stopped going to concerts/exhibitions/movies? What great liberal suggested 'it will wither on the vine' because if you like your dr. You can keep your dr. If you like you're plan you can keep your plan...every family will save $2500...
I am a sucker for a good story-song and Charlie Daniels had some of the best!
Music like this is not possible today.
I have always loved so much of all of the music of Charlie Daniels, but " Caballo Diablo" is one of my absolute favorites. Seems to me that many fans of CDB have never heard of this exquisite tale in song form.
This is what got me hooked on Southern Rock
Charlie Daniels has SO MANY cool songs, but Caballo Diablo is my all-time favorite from him because of the story that the song tells. So cool!!!

Rest in peace, Charlie Daniels. You will be greatly missed. Sending prayers for your family and friends
Charlie Daniels concerts were always incredible , R.I.P. Charlie ,I hope You are now playing with Ronnie and Duane up above
Fire on the Mountain - an all time favorite album!
Tommy Crain was so underrated as a guitar player but dang was he good. He and Charlie together were magic.
He's off with Cabello Diablo now- you personally gave me 45 years of great tunes and times- thanks you and RIP BIg Man!
Not just my favorite CDB song, but probably my favorite southern rock song. If I listen to Whippin' Post or The Ballad of Curtis Leow, they might take over for a minute, but this one is always in the conversation.
I'm a metalhead and Charlie was the most METAL country dude. 5:50 is heavier than most bands of the day. RIP Charlie, you were a national treasure!!
You are so right! I saw Charlie Daniels and his band for the first time back in 1979 and he and the rest of his band could play a variety of musical styles.
Lol not really

The whole band was tight, this was a really good live version, as good as any live version of El Toreador.
Best CDB song ever love their early sound.
So broken-hearted he my favorite singer for years listen to him since 1973 cousin Bobby Billy Bob Saxon turn them on to me and we first time went to Houston to see pollution 1973 I love the song started off with Elwood Down to Georgia God bless you
This was the real CDB sound. I can't help but think that guitar duo has been repeated a few times in the last couple of days.
It was the Allman Brothers Band that pioneered the concept of having two lead guitarists rather than one lead, one rhythm, and one bass guitar.
Bad ass
This is what God meant music to sound like!
RIP BELOVED MAN CHARLIE DANIELS... NOW YOU CAN BE WITH YOUR BFF JC... XO
Caught Charlie and the band open for Skynyrd in Jacksonville, Fl. 1975 !! One of the best concerts ever!!

Rest in Peace Legend. Genius musician and artist!!
Charlie D.! Any instrument he picks up he makes it look easy to play, and play well. What a special talent he always has been!
I was at this show in the 3td row we went to all the CDB concerts back then. This is one of the best CDB song ever.
Unbelievable performance...CDs singing..and the twin guitar attack..The horns....Performance that gives the audience all that it could possibly want...Only wish I'd been there! What a band...

RIP Charlie!

Most country songs are jealous of this song

Tommy Kraine...rip
Kick A#@!
Did guitars get bigger over the years or was Charlie such a unit that he made average guitars look tiny?
They don't makem that anymore
Today Tramp would outlaw this song....
The Chris ledoux is better, but I give these guys props!!
Charlie wrote the song. Have you heard the version with both of them in it?
This was when Charlie was cool ...now he's a right-wing mouthpiece...should've stuck to music!
He had the same political ideals back then. He just wasn't as vocal about it unless you listened to his lyrics.
Yeah, Uneasy Rider was a real right-wing manifesto :/
