The first drill is wrong you have to put 1 knee down so if you are unable to catch the ball your legs can stop the shot

The low catch technique is quite dangerous as you could be nutmegged in case you miss the ball or it slips through. I was taught to go down into a kneeling position with one leg sideways so nutmegging doesnt happen
When I saw this "keeper" without his gloves. I stopped paying attention.
Better technique is to actually scoop the ball with your kneeling position (mentioned in your comment).
It allows for safety of the backup option of hitting legs and also using your knees and legs more rather straining your back and then falling to ground.
Theres just one problem. If you dont catch the problem 100% and the ball goes to the side you wont be able to be quick there or you tear up your acl or slth like that
@@ypsfootball9017 Hahaha. Well you chose the wrong save in the first place. Drill one is for when a ball is on the ground and directly in line with you. If it is going either side of your body and you had plenty of time to see the ball, then your positioning was wrong.
Yeah. its called the K technique to stop megs. for example its going to the right. scoop while using ur left leg pointing to the right. it will stop megs and if you miss. it will parry away from the goal
I used to scoop it like the guy in video I used to get embarrassed by faster shots

There’s no such thing as the schmeichel catch. That way of catching the ball has been used by gk as far back as yashine, Gordon banks and many others . When the ball come at your waist level, you use your upper body and arms to form a basket or hole where the ball will sit in, on the other hand what schmeichel does is using the same settings but in upright positioning of the body to catch the ball without using his hand. He’s free to do it and it shows a lot of control but no coaches in this world traînes their keepers to do it but in a way u r expected to be able to do it. It’s a bit like going for a cross with one hand: we don’t train it but we should be able to do it when push comes to shove.. I will definitely not recommend young gk to use those approachs
