Good video BUT on higher shots he is falling on his elbow every time which is not correct technique and that is how you injure your shoulder short and long term. You stop sliding on ground and all the stress is on the shoulder. Also dangerous for the elbows and risk to spill the ball.
GIANLUCA TEMPERINI he actually does slide when he catches the ball, its not easy to slide when you fall from a stance on your knee. In terms of the landing its more what you feel comfortable with. I prefer to land on my hip now but when i was starting out I used to prefer landing with my elbow slightly tucked to protect my hip bone. Injuries happen if you hit the ground at the wrong angle or too hard, thats why you shouldn’t just jump right into diving from a fully upright stance if you’re just starting out
When I was 11 years old, I played as a goalie, I was like 4'7 at that age. We played on a court that has the same goal bars as the adults' courts. I played with our local soccer players. I saved a ball with a very long dive, probably a 6 feet sideways dive from where I was, and I thought why I didn't felt pain. That moment was awesome and that's the moment that I fell in love with soccer and the mind games it has
I am around 10 and I have been working on goalie since I was around 6 and a half I feel the same way about diving and I'm currently working on it IDK why ur comment is boosting me to try harder. 😅
Ngl this was the main reason I didn't become a goalkeeper. I really loved the idea of being a goalkeeper but there were no good goalkeeper coaches where I live and was never shown how to dive correctly. To this day I still hate diving😂
I too am a goalkeeper I started without any one coaching me until I had to follow up with all the Goalkeeper drills online and I am much better than before.
dude Ty so much, Im nine years old, I just joined a summer camp as a goalkeeper and I didnt know how to dive until you taught me. Thanks for changing my life
I showed my students this video during our keeping session and I showed them afterwards. They all had a turn 2 shoot at me. I'm a 27 year old man who's been playing goalie since the age of 4. I'd like to thank my idol Gianluigi Buffon for getting me into goalkeeping. I highly idolize him.
Thnaks so much for these videos, ive been a goalie for a couple years because im tall and im naturally agile with good reaction time, but never got fully taught the fundememtals and proper techniques, looking to go further as a goalie and these tutorials are helping me imrpove so fast because i can practice them myself and them implement it when i go into training, cheers man 👍🏼

Nice progression Tyler! I have enjoyed watching your videos. You focus on the fundamentals and proper technique, which is over looked by many of today young goal keepers. Keep up the good work! (It's Coach Moser from MU)
No, I retired after the 2018 season and 30 years of coaching there. My retirement wasn't very long as I accepted a job as Player Development Director with Stafford Soccer, plus training GK at UMW. Love your videos!!
@@keithmoser600 Love to hear it man! It's been awesome to see the success Kilby and you guys have had at UMW the past few years. Hoping you guys can keep that momentum rolling.
Good stuff...the last few dives I'd probably have my keepers move their arms forward once the have possession so when you land, the elbows are right in front of your chest/stomach instead of underneath the body and possibly knocking the wind out of you or hitting the ribs. You WERE doing that earlier so you obviously know your stuff! Those shots that "jamb' you as you start to dive are so frustrating...I feel like alot of players get hurt on those by landing on their elbows as much as they do trying to extend...
I’m loving these tutorials, I’m trying my hardest to become a goalkeeper at the moment, I have a couple goalkeeping videos on my channel, I’m getting better every day by watching you!
@@salemismail2226 I still practice goalkeeping, but I realised I was more of a defender and played better in that position. Though, I decided to switch career paths, because I’ve always loved English in school and books and writing. So right now I’m now an author in progress, but I wouldn’t mind playing as a goalkeeper in school football.
You cant be goalkeeper or play soccer if you afraid of pain or something always hurt you, i play proffesional football and i never complain on pain. No pain no gain
Cuz I goalie since 10 years. I started 5 years old and in the first 5 to 7 years it is relly really going to hurt mostly hips and rips but believe me don't stop the pain is worth it and one more tip on high dives, DON'T NEVER EVER LAND ON YOUR SHOULDER OR ELBOW FIRST HAHAHA
You should keep working on your diving form. If your hips touches the ground first you'll eventually feel the pain. Another option is to incorporate rolling off after you dive. It allows you to have more control of your body.
When I first started, I didn’t dive. My goalkeeper coach taught me, and it helped a lot. I got used to step and dive, then when I started diving normally, without step and dive. I feel like I just forget about step and dive, and just don’t do it anymore..it’s weird
@@manjeff4334 It’s a great position to play, everytime I save a shot I’m feel amazing lol. There are so problems like the feeling its your fault when u let a goal in. Since your quite tall though I think u’d be a great goalie
