THANK YOU SO MUCH !! Ive been wanting to make twitch emote comissions and was looking for a concise video which showed each process ;-;
You’re very welcome!!!🥹❤️❤️❤️
Your art is so pretty I hope you make more content related to art it would be nice !!
aahh thank you!! ;; I'm working on more art content to upload!!
I wish you’d walk us through every step. So what layers, what pens, what the thickness of the lines are, etc. I really struggle with having them look good from afar and I am not sure how thick my lines should be and how to change part of the lines’ colour. Or how you resize things and drag them to where you want or copy those squares. I’d love to know all of that ❤
she aint gonna tell you how to copy her entire art style
Hi! Sorry for the late answering! I made this tutorial to guide you on how to draw emotes but it's a general guide and not something too in depth. Tbh there are no strict rules about layers, line thickness etc cause it's more a personal choice! I personally use a single layer for lineart and then layers for base colours and shadow/light clipped above them! About thickness of the pen I don't really know ;o; I just increase and decrease brush size to my liking! To resize things you can go on 'edit' and click 'transform'!
Hope this helps, wish you a great day!
Study fundamentals and do lots of "Paint-Overs" even if it isn't a painting. You will learn what you need to know pretty efficiently this way.
its hard to find a tutorial for a certain style of art i like so thank you very much
you're very welcome!!
I don't have any questions. Just wanna say that I love your art, voice and your design!! 😊💕💕

AHH THIS IS A GEM OF A VIDEO! Thank you so much for making a video of your process. I've been struggling for a little bit now but I saw your style and I was like omg I need to click. Hopefully I can take inspiration from this ❣✨
edit: just finished the video and i wont be re-editing 28x28 due to twitch taking 500x500 for all sizes, but thanks for the info about vectors and stuff! helpful
Hello there! Sorry for the late reply ;o; your comment was marked as spam for some reason... Thank you so much for all the compliments!!❤ also you can upload sizes manually on Twitch instead of uploading the 500x500 one!! When you're about to upload the emote, below the emotes blank squares there's a 'resize' thing with a switch, turn it off and you can upload the 28, 56 and 112px ones!!
Lately, I've been craving to draw something simple and cute. I chose emotes, but didn't know where to start! Thank you so much!❤
Oh my!! ;o; Hopefully it's useful to you!!❤❤❤
@@hexyraart I just didn't understand if there are any basic emotions that can be drawn by everyone. Or how do you invent them? There are emotions that everyone will have that are roughly similar.
@@skanikart if you do a goggle search and look for 'twitch emotes' you'll notice that there's some expressions that almost everyone has in common (Ex. heart emote, wave, cry etc) but you can take inspiration from everything! I really like to get inspo from anime screencaps!
@@hexyraart Thank you, these are very good tips🩷🌸. I will try it out.

You're very welcome!!
Do you have any recommendation for shading?? You do an amazing job with shading and since I just started out making emotes I don't really have any knowledge on where to shade or how to! Thank you for reading and for the amazing tutorial! I hope you're having a beautiful day!

What is that transparent watercolor brush? Where can I find it? OwO
great tutorial!
Hello! I love your tutorial so much and it helped me a lot! I do have a question tho! If I do emote commissions, is it necessary to resize and send them multiple sizes of the emotes or just the original size?
I honestly prefer to resize myself and send multiple sizes since I edit the 28x28px emotes too! But you can also send the original size cause twitch has automatic resizer option!! So ye just do what you prefer!!! I'm glad my video could help!!;;
THANK YOU A LOT!!! I loved this video, this video is extremely helpful. You just received a new like and sub. Have a wonderful day!!
AHHH OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!;; I'm super glad!!!
I need help! I don't know how to create the layer grey and how to create another canvas. help please
@@ivana4508 To make the layer grey select the grey color on the color wheel, select the bucket tool and fill the layer! To create a new canvas go on file and click 'New...'!
@@hexyraart Again, thank you so much Ms GOD!! I’m staying here FOREVER!!!
@@ivana4508 you're very welcome!!!🥺
Thank you cutie pie
Actually there are a lot of emotes that have the same patterns and they are all made using some emotes chart that you can buy online. They're pretty usefull and free for you to use, if you pay of course
yeah! But not everyone wants to use same bases for every emote! Some artists make YCH emotes but others just draw from the beginning! It's just a matter of choice imo c:
this is helpful but the most difficult part imo is shading and i’m as perplexed about shading now as i was before i watched the video D:
I'm sorry but this is not a shading tutorial!! I will make a tutorial about shading in the future for sure!!
I love the way u make them so cute. Could you make a video on how to draw mythical creatures like dragons, griffins and ponies plssss
Hello, thank you so much!! I never thought about making this!! I could try to add it in my future projects!
This is a really good tutorial but I have a question. When you draw on 1 canvas, and you zoom in, how is it automatically deleting the excess lines outside that canvas? Thank you in advance ^^
I’m going to do this for my next emote. I ran out of ideas so maybe I’ll use the work one. Not steal though just the work emote idea.

@@hexyraart thanks!
I found this most helpful as I intend to draw chibi art. I have a doubt though. Did you draw it all with a mouse or did you use a drawing tablet? Do you have any basic starting/beginner tips for someone new to CSP? I would really appreciate it.
I use a drawing tablet (HUION KAMWAS 20) I made a video for a good tablet for beginners! ua-cam.com/video/aT0QyYfpqtc/v-deo.html
also I suggest you to watch this video I made here of some tips on CSP ua-cam.com/video/0oJ9BJcY3gk/v-deo.html
and I'd also say to try the tools to get comfortable with them and to experiment a lot! I don't know if you're a beginner artist as well, if so, the most important thing is to study art fundamentals!

hi there sorry for the late reply!! If it's something with less details then you can shade less than I did! Keep it simple, it's still good!

Trying to learn smoothly animated twitch emote art. Can you make a video on your process
Hi there, sorry for late reply!
I actually do not make animated emotes, only static.
I can only make a video about how to separate emotes layers, but not animation.
so like if u were commissioned to draw emptes, all u have to send is the emote in png file right? i wanna learn how abt it cos i wanna be a twitch emote artist as well
yes! Use PNG to keep transparency! If you use JPG for example, even if you delete background layer, it's gonna add one once you export! Also PNG is recommended for files destined to be used online!
HEYY1! may i know what brushes you use? the carrd thing isnt loading 😭😭
Hi hi!! I used G-pen and Ri paint brush for lineart, while I used transparent watercolor and dense watercolor for shading! The Ri paint brush one is from a brush pack you can download here if you use csp❤ assets.clip-studio.com/en-us/detail?id=1724552
Idk what happened to the carrd link but you can try with this one🥺hexyraart.carrd.co/
I'll try to fix the one in description too!!
your emotes are gorgeous! what pens are you using? where did u get them from? 😍
Tysm!! I use dense watercolor and transparent watercolor, i also use a brush from a brush pack I downloaded from Clipstudio Paint assets! It's called Ri brush pack!
@@hexyraart thank you! appreciate it

Thank you!!!!
Hello! I was wondering what software you use? I also want to start making twitch stickers
Hi! It's Clipstudio Paint!! Good luck!!
how to copy and paste layer to the bigger layer?
I have a big canvas open in one project and small canvas open in a second one, fill the small canvas with a color, select all, copy, then go back to the big canvas and paste!
I appreciate your explanations, but I have a question: why do you convert it to a smaller PNG? I'm asking because I would like to start with the smaller PNG instead of converting it later.
Hello! you mean at the beginning when i make the 500px canvas or when the emote is finished and I resize it??
this video was super helpful! but I have a question about how you export the emote at the end.
I tried duplicating the folder and merging all the layers but it messed everything up, is there a different way to do it or did I miss something? TwT
Hi! Tysm❤️
Are you working on multiple emotes in the same canvas?? Can you explain more in detail?? I’ll try to help!!🥺❤️
@@hexyraart I am working with multiple emotes on the same canvas and I'm also working with csp but when I tried to do what you said it didn't work for me, when I copied the folder and merged all the layers in it, it just became a mess.
I figured out a different way to do it but it's much more complicated then how you explained in the video.
@@snowishelg4796 dm me in discord!! I’ll help you there so you can share me screenshots!!
Hii! I'm working on discord emotes atm and I was wondering if this tutorial also applies for discord emotes? Also I wanted to ask what size specifically do you use for the background?(like the white BG u put the gray emote boxes in?) Thank you!!
Hello! Yes it applies for discord emotes too! Discord emote size should be 120px!
For the background it depends on how many emotes I’m working on, for this video I used around 3000px I think?? You can always change your canvas size to your liking tho in the edit section!
@@hexyraart ohh so do I have to resize the 500x500 to 120x120 when I'm done or do I use 120x120as my actual emote canvas size then resize it to 32x32?(Because when I searched what size discord emotes are Google said 32x32) btw tysm 4 answering!!
@@lexy_nekogacha4822 you should resize from 500px to 120px! Discord allows emotes from 32px to 128px so I use 120px as standard size for discord emotes!!
@@hexyraart Thank UUU!! One last question, what layer type do you use for the coloring and shading/highlights? BC for some reason my blur/liquify/paint bucket and just some other stuff don't really work on vector layers?? Do I have to enable something? Sorry if I'm being a nuisance I'm really new to this stuff! DD:
@@lexy_nekogacha4822 it’s ok!! Feel free to ask anything!!
I use vector layer only for lineart! (Eyes not included)
All the other layers (base, shading etc) are raster layer! After I’m done with Lineart I rasterize it! (To raster right click on vector layer and select ‘raster’)
Liquify etc work only with raster layers!!
Hii hii,
I made some emotes (I was half way but wanted to test them) and did the step for export but for some reason when I paste the emote in a 500 x 500 px file it doesn't paste in the middle and cut half the emote off. (Like some empty space on the top and left side and then the emote is just pushed in the right side and bottom and that side is just cut off.. Sorry I'm bad at explaining)
The boxes are also the same size. (what I drew on and where I pasted it) I also tested with some other blocks with random scribbles and they didn't have that (did literally the same so I'm so confused)
Maybe you know what I did wrong and how I can prevent this from happening? 🥲
Btw: Your emotes are stunning! Like everything is just *mwah* chef kiss. So clean and so pretty! 💕
Hello! First of all thank you so much for the compliments!!🥺❤️
And this happens to me a lot too! But don’t worry, if it happens move your emote with the cursor and put it in the middle or move with with keyboard arrows till it’s centered!! Idk why this happens sometimes but just move it! The emote is not cut but the parts are just hidden! Try it and let me know if it works🥺
@@hexyraart Thank you for helping and responding it means a lot! 💕Sorry didn't had any emotes anymore to try it on until now. For some reason it cuts and I don't understand why 🥲 After I paste it and it's selected (only the box tho) it doesn't show the other parts that I drew anymore. So I prob have to just cut the canvas to the size or maybe you know what I did wrong?
@@lynniia if you clipped the emote to the gray square, when you paste to a 500px canvas, check if it's still clipped! Click again the clipping button! Cause sometimes it stays clipped and doesn't show cause there's no layer below!
What art program do you use? I have paint tool sai :’)
Clipstudio Paint Pro!
How do you create the lace on the emote so easily? :o thank you for the tutorial
I use a gpen brush with outlines on! If you go to layer properties and turn on the outlines everything you'll draw in that layer will have an outline! You can also change the size and color! (this if u use csp)

You design this in which software??
Clip Studio Paint!
🍒 Dear, i'm curious to know how long you spend time drawing? How many hours? 😊
I spend minimun 4 hours a day! Then it depends if I can continue or not!
What app do use and drawing tablet do u use?
I use clipstudio paint and a huion kamvas 20!
@@hexyraart okay do you recommend any other drawing tablet for beginners ?
@@Kaigrph yeah! I always suggest to go with a non screen tablet first since they're cheaper and beginner friendly! I made a video about XP-Pen Deco MW you can take a look! ua-cam.com/video/aT0QyYfpqtc/v-deo.html

just curious about the app you're using?
Clip Studio Paint Pro!
from the twitch template, how do you separate the emotes?
Hi! What do you mean?? I think I didn't get it;;
@@hexyraart when using the emote template, how do we separate each square into its own canvas? :0 do we just crop the square individually and then paste on the 500x500 canvas?
@@caitlyn86 what I do is I put all layers in a folder for each emote (ex. For hi emote I put all layers so Lineart, base colors and shading in same folder) and I merge the folder so it becomes a single layer, this way I’ll have a layer for each emote, then I select the emote I need to export, I use copy or Ctrl+C, I create a new canvas 500x500px and I paste or Ctrl+V! Sometimes the emote is not centered so I have to move it manually! I hope this helped! Let me know if you need anything else!
please tell me this software name where twitch emotes are make .I am waiting for your reply
clip studio paint pro!
What size canvas do you use to place your emotes on?
To draw an emote i create a 500x500 px canvas! If I have to work on multiple emotes I create a big canvas (usually bigger than 2000px and paste a grey colored 500x500px layer in it (then I paste it as many times as many emotes I have to draw)
@@hexyraart So I followed this tutorial as best I could but for iPad, however I can't seem to upscale my drawing no matter what... I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. 😓
@@Ailana10791 oh! You don’t have to upscale your emote!
So, if you have to work on a SINGLE emote, create a new canvas in your art program, the canvas should be 500x500px. Draw your emote and when you’re done delete the background layer and DOWNSCALE it! Downscale manually (decreasing the resolution of the whole canvas) or save the emote in 500x500px (export to png) and use the site I used in this video! You can find the link in the description!
the videos is good yes but i'm just having trouble drawing a single circle
Hello! I know I answered on Twitch but I'll reply here so other people can see it and find it useful!
I use arm movement instead of wrist to draw circles, I swear it's way easier! Grab your pen and move your arm to make a circle! Also practice a bit and you'll be able to make an almost perfect circle!
what program do you use?
Clipstudio Paint!
0:28 I’m still very confused on this part how do I do this?
Basically you create 2 canvases! One is 500x500px and the other one will be bigger (mine was around 3000px wide), when you work on the 500px canvas you fill it grey with bucket tool, then select the grey layer and copy it (you can use Ctrl+C or go to 'Edit' and 'copy') then go to the 3000px canvas and paste (Use Ctrl+V or 'Edit' 'Paste') and the grey square will appear! Then duplicate the grey square as many times as the emotes you have to draw! Let me know if you need anything else!!

I Want draw My own emotes, thank you For this video and btw I'll subscribed your Channel here UA-cam and following you on Twitch, you are beauty and cute. ❤️😍
AHH OMG THANK YOUUU😭❤️
I feel like the actual process of how to draw it wasn’t the best 😢 other then a few tips I was expecting more in-depth
Oh I see! Ty for your feedback! This tutorial is not for beginners but it's more a guideline to emotes creation!! In this video I draw emotes in chibi style so maybe my chibi tutorial would be more useful!!
Me a non-artist trying to make on own emotes 😂 I’m delusional to think I can draw like you
You can do it!!! It takes time, patience and determination but everyone can learn! I wasn't always good at drawing! So yea don't give up and you'll see results for sure!
your colouring make it look way too simple.. when i try it, it just went weirdly out of what I imagine it's gonna be
Ohh it’s okay, I know shading is a bit difficult but it takes time and patience so you can do it🥺
So your approach for beginners I find not well thought out. If someone has no experience with drawing emotes, you can't just say start sketching.
I know it's hard, but you have to show a beginner how to draw in simple steps. Your skill level would scare me off as a beginner and I wouldn't start drawing.
Maybe next time you'll give tips on how to draw the emote and not just that you shouldn't copy other emotes.
Thanks for the feedback! The video is not intended to be watched for beginners (they ofc could but it’s not complete). The tutorial is more a guideline to emotes creation. I’m already working on some videos for beginners tho! Ty again!❤️

@@hexyraart But the title reads like the video is for beginners. Maybe you can adjust the thumbnail and the title and add something like "for advanced". it's a great work but not really a tutorial... you don't explain how to do the shades, the forms and a lot of other things people need to learn how to do emotes.
Hi! This is a general tutorial about how to make emotes! No shading or other drawings techniques are explained! I'll make a shading tutorial in the future as well!
Just because it's not the tutorial you were looking for, doesn't mean it's not a tutorial.
I'm already an artist. I don't need it gunked up with information I can get elsewhere like shading or anatomy.
I get extremely frustrated while trying to do twitch emote are, it just doesn't look right, I can't tell when to make the lines thick or thin, where to ass different color line art and how what colors to use for shading and highlights, please someone help 😿😿
Hi! What I do is to make lines thicker on the outline (like a border) and when I wanna put the focus to something (for example if there's a heart emote i make the outlines of the heart thicker). About how to color lineart i keep same color (mostly dark blue/purple/red) and only color the part of the skin! I pick the skin color and use a darker version of it. I like to add some reddish color near the cheeks and fingers. About colors used for shading it's a bit long to explain but I use multiply layer and a purpleish color. For highlight I mostly use a yellowish color! There's more to explain about colors but I'll make a tutorial soon!
