Thank you for this, Shar! I always wanted to learn your art process, and now I can! I made a whole Twitter account just for this! Thank you for the opportunities to win this! (I just hope I entered properly 😅)
This was so wholesome and had wonderful information that will be very useful to people. I know my way around Flash/Animate but it was cool to hear some new things.. That selection colour script is such a cool idea. I will for sure try it sometime if I use Animate again. Hope to see more like this!
ngl you were like one of my main inspirations to pick up art again. i used to draw a lot when i was younger, but i stopped because i felt like i couldn't draw that well. seeing your zelda and link animations really inspired me to try drawing them myself too because i love them too, so thanks a lot for that. i still can't draw that well, yet, but i'll get there one day and i'm gonna keep going until then.
As someone who produces audio, I would like to express my appreciation towards your comfortable sound design in combination with your animation. Good job
I truly couldn't be happier to: 1. Hear her talk again. 2. Learn to draw... FROM THE BEST?!?!?! 3. See that she is STILL the embodiment of "creative, funni, wholesome."
Your animations were my final push into deciding i'm gonna study animation after highschool; thank you so much! This video shall be very helpful. Much love xoxo 😊💐
Your mom's right I'd pay for one of your soothing angelic rambles!!! And congrats on the great vid, I get it may be out of your comfort zone (I'd die if I tried one of these) but DO MORE, you're great at it and a huge inspiration for me and all of us, your stuff warms my heart tysm❤

i always loved your style shar!! so bubbly and the colors are so soft! animation is tough but super rewarding in the end c: cant wait to see who animates from here!
girlll i have been using adobe animate since i was a kid (when it was named flash XD) and i learned so many new tips and tricks im so exited to animate now!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH YOU ARE AMAZING
I found this through a rabbit hole run on UA-cam and honestly I am just wonderfully and very much so flabbergasted by the content quality here. From audio to video to content scripting, I was like "woah" several times through the video. Please keep it up, it is wonderful to have you here doing this kind of stuff. It heals and feeds the soul in a magnificent manner and I love it ^^ May you have a beautiful future.
I'd love to be able to animate, but I'd have to be able to draw more than a stick figure I think. I know those stick fighting animations exist, but you know what I mean. Also I'm so happy you got little tiny keychain plushies! I'm always sad when youtubers make merch and its big expensive hoodies or $35 T-shirts. Something cute and small like a keychain or coffee mug is always awesome because I already have a million dang hoodies.
This video legit was a game changer for me as I somewhat recently took up Adobe animate. I would get frustrated over the little knowledge I had of the program. I've incorporated many tips from the video in my latest works and I finally think I'm getting the hang of it! So thanks a lot!
New sub! I just started watching you less than 10 minutes ago, and I decided you are way to good for existence. Thank you for this tutorial, I will definitely be referring back to this in the near future!
Hola Shar, espero tengas un buen dia, solo queria comentar q me encanta tu arte y animacion, cuando vi la animacion de link y zelda en la escuela, no pude dejar de verla, me encanta, muchas gracias por tu trabajo tan bonito, gracias
OMG THE POG GIRLY IS FINALLY HERE!!! I’VE BEEN WAITING FOR THE FROGGY FOR SO LONG AND IT’S FINALLY HERE!!! IT’S SO DAMN ADORABLE! How do you make such great videos while balancing your work life? You’re such a great UA-camr and I love your merchandise and videos! I hope you have a great day! :)
I have a good friend whom I've known for sometime. Often when we hang out outisde of school its simple things, like taking a walk and getting coffee. My absolute favorite thing is to just hear them explain (ramble.) about things that interest them. Its very relaxing and soothing, so I understand why your Ma would think so as well. Anyhow, keep on fighting the good fight ma'am!
WAIT WAIT UR FILO PO!?😭 I was gonna subscribe with just being mesmerized by your creative bg, sprites, and your amazing voice! but having a filo mother supportive of you and how you def show everything step by step and so easy to understand makes my life so much more brighter by just watching these vids of yours!💛
AAAAH omggg shar you’ve been one of my favourite animators for a REALLY long time (like since 2020) and now you’ve finally released a tut!! It’s so helpful too, you are straight to the point and explain it so that it’s easy to follow, I’ll definitely be using some of your advice in the future (especially the shadow and highlights one that’s a godsend 😭) but seriously I love your videos I hope you have good luck and that the other side of your pillow is cold when you flip it over

So aesthetically pleasing- THE EFFORT AAAA u explained this very well and THANK U FOR THIS!! this is kind of the only animation tutorial i understood. ill definitely watch this if i ever decide to actually sit down and animate LMAOO love your work
Ahhh, you use a samusng tab that's so cool, I rarely see none online who use them consistently. I also really love the video it suits the way I learn perfectly. So thank you.
There is actually a way to make the paint bucket tool fill in gaps. If you click the tool and then go to it's properties, there should be a box, if you click on it you can see different options to do with gaps.
yup!! but it often fills some shapes incompletely (e.g. small corners of boxes or shapes can remain unfilled) - totally fine to use that setting though! 👍 i just personally prefer the alternative
This video is genuinely such a huge lifesaver for me rn as i'm working for a huge animation project as a school assignment at the moment and have to work my way around that animation. It's like this vid came out at the perfect time for me and i can't thank you enough for this especially because i don't have much experience in animation and this just made my process much more bearable and organized. Again, much thanks !!
ok first of all, THANK U FOR THE TUTORIAL (even tho i dont even have an animating thingy) and also i found it so cute how she struggled to plug in the usb cord and especially when she got so excited by clicky pen holder XD
the biggest compliment any comfy creator will get is the "I ended up falling asleep to this" this is that comment. no joke, I woke up with one earbud fused to my ear, sleep marks on my arms, and the replay screen showing on my phone's YT- most rested I've ever been in two weeks since college midterms XD
As someone who feels competent already in animation this was still really interesting to see how other people go about their process and see other software, I know a lot of people use adobe but I use a pretty weak software all things considered so seeing all these tools is something I’m not used to. I tend to also do VERY rough sketches initially so it was nice to see someone else who also does the messy sketches. It also reminded me that I’m very weird for not really drawing or animating humans, like ever. It’s mainly dinosaurs and Pokémon.
The hardest part about animation for me is coming up with ideass ! The way youre so easily able to come up with them inspires me so much Damn brain wont work grrr
loved this video!!! im an animation student at university and its very funny to hear u talk about animate cuz most of us HATE using it even tho its what we're first taught haha!! i like toonboom the most but the price sucks
I decided to finally get into animation recently and found your channel which is really inspiring for me. Especially because you make a lot of cute animations with your favorite ship, which is exactly what I want to do myself. I'm working on my first small animation now, and when I take a break from animating to check youtube I see this. Perfect timing. Love your videos, thank you and please keep making them!
This is a random detail, but as someone who's studying a CS master's, has a hobby in art, and dabbles in animation (and has been suffering in relearning it recently, hah!), it's very comforting to watch someone who's in a similar bubble and do it so well, let alone teach it! It's inspiring and really cozy to hear your process, so thank you for your delightful contribution :)
I also use animate, I think it's very good to work with vectors, it's very easy to model the lines until you get the desired result and also to clean up by cutting and deleting unwanted lines, this helps a lot.
hi ms. shar, it's me the guy who tried to work with you, I sadly wasn't able to work in animation, but I got to work with something even better, retro gaming, I'm working on a PS1 vid currently so thank you for the support you've given me❤
I don’t personally animate but I love your work! Also, as a musician, I love that you shared your playlists. I always need more music, and you’ve got some great taste (seeing Ico took me way back 🥲)
Thank you for making this video! I'm not one to animate, but it's always wonderful to watch your stuff. All your content is so peaceful and just chill. Always love your choice of sfx and background music. Reminds me of your streams. Love the vibes of everything you make.
I love your style, but I don't animate or draw or anything but I like learning about the process from people. It's very interesting, thanks for the video.
This video was amazing! I'm more than happy to keep you company during this video and watch you animate! That was quite an experience, thank you Shar! You're also very adorable! Especially during the XPPen promo. I've done art in the past and I have my own small drawing tablet but art is more of a hobby for me, I don't think I'll ever have the kind of dedication and/or inspiration that you have but thank you for the wonderful video overall!
I've studied animation a lot but I never practice it bc I find the length of projects to be overwhelming. The fact that you posed this as almost a dtiys "animate with me" actually makes me want to participate ❤
Not only are you an incredibly talented artist, but you have a beautiful voice and happen to be a fellow computer-science graduate and gamer. I'm now an official shar fan! Please consider doing more videos with your voice. It's seriously soothing.
The motivation you give me to work on my channel is amazing, somehow you motivated me to create my channel, you motivated me to decide to rebrand my channel when I leave the school I’m currently in, you motivated me to start coming up with concepts and you motivate me to be creative and write stuff. Huuhhhhh???????? That doesn’t make sense, I’m not even gonna do full animation stuff but you still motivate me??? Also your art style is very pretty :D
Really enjoyed the tutorial/guide. Commentary was awesome and liked that the basics break down applies to animating in general and not just the program you are using. Wicked cool tablet too.
Yayyy my favorite animator posted!! I'm really excited to follow this since all of the other tutorials I watch always confuse me, but this one is making a lot of sense so far. Keep up the amazing work!! :DD
When I learned animation in college, they showed a technique in where you animate each object individually. By keeping an object defined- you can set its color and shading without having to manually color each iteration. (Idk if this helps anyone but it’s how I learned.)
As someone with no skill in art i will continue to watch you and other people who are good at art and be amazed by your witchcraft. Thank you for giving us what nintendo is too much of a coward to give us.
Great video! I burned myself out animating awhile ago. Animating is so time consuming compared to just drawing one thing ._. but I've been wanting to get back to it, so thank you for reminding that I should get back to animating :D
Man I thought I posted my comment but I must have forgotten to submit it or something? Guess I'll try it again LOL I'm a music guy, so I don't know a whole lot about drawing and animation...but after watching this, I'm starting to feel the confidence to make doodle animations again. I've been wanting to make one for a project for some friends, and it might be super simple in premise, but it still intimidates me! But if I never try, I never know how it'll turn out. Could be terrible, could be amazing...hey, I've surprised myself before LOL Also, as music/sound man, I just wanted to say a few things... Your voice is so relaxing! It's so cozy and chill, I can feel myself unwinding just listening to the video while I type this. But seriously you can also feel the passion and excitement too. The little laughs and smiles make this video engaging as much as it is cozy. Awesome stuff. I love the sound design behind this video. The crispy page turns, the gentle pops, the cozy plinky music...everything sounds so relaxing and light and gentle. Kind of like Animal Crossing: New Horizons' sound design, which I also really like. Kudos on this -- you have blessed both our eyes and ears with your talent and finesse. That's poggers! Also thanks so much for sharing these playlists. My girlfriend and I like to listen to cozy music while we're working, so I may have to check out some of these and add them to my own playlists! I especially liked the Animal Crossing-style tune at the start and finish. If you like that kind of sound and you're ever looking for something new to listen to, I make some Animal Crossing covers! I hope they help make work feel extra cozy and fun! But yeah, apologies if this comment is too painfully long lol...whenever I'm excited about something, I tend to gush and overanalyze lol. And new content from you is always hype! So please make more! More of these! More of anything! Go!!! DO IT!!!!!
This is the first video of your's that I've come across, and I absolуtly lovee all the explanations and your manner and your style and the way of worck flaw in general. Waching this made me feel so safe and free from judgment for beeing a beginer. Thank you soooo much for taking the time to make this video.

yep !
I agree very relaxing
Same, but also because i wanna try animating but it scares me 😭
I really like the way your animated self looks with the eyes, it’s so cute.

:DD
Actually good tutorial. I find that usually tutorials are waaaay to overwhelming, but you broke it down to simple to understand steps. Very cool!
IRL Shar gives off the same vibes as the little Doodle Shar :)
SHAR
She's back and taking us to school!
(I have never animated before lol)
(Also congrats to a fellow comp sci major)
When I learned animation in college, they showed a technique in where you animate each object individually. By keeping an object defined- you can set its color and shading without having to manually color each iteration. (Idk if this helps anyone but it’s how I learned.)
As someone with no skill in art i will continue to watch you and other people who are good at art and be amazed by your witchcraft. Thank you for giving us what nintendo is too much of a coward to give us.
I loooooveeee your animation style and froggert, combined with ASMR quality voice this is the best how to animation video ever
Her voice is so calming :3
Great video! I burned myself out animating awhile ago. Animating is so time consuming compared to just drawing one thing ._. but I've been wanting to get back to it, so thank you for reminding that I should get back to animating :D
This might've been the first ad I've watched through, this video feels so cozy I love it
Man I thought I posted my comment but I must have forgotten to submit it or something? Guess I'll try it again LOL
I'm a music guy, so I don't know a whole lot about drawing and animation...but after watching this, I'm starting to feel the confidence to make doodle animations again. I've been wanting to make one for a project for some friends, and it might be super simple in premise, but it still intimidates me! But if I never try, I never know how it'll turn out. Could be terrible, could be amazing...hey, I've surprised myself before LOL
Also, as music/sound man, I just wanted to say a few things...
Go!!! DO IT!!!!!
I almost fell asleep your voice is so soothing 🥱
This is the first video of your's that I've come across, and I absolуtly lovee all the explanations and your manner and your style and the way of worck flaw in general. Waching this made me feel so safe and free from judgment for beeing a beginer. Thank you soooo much for taking the time to make this video.
