yep just practice! i find in the morning im more jittery especially if i haven't eaten yet - it's good to draw when you're hydrated and had some food, it calms your body down!
Holding the pen down to create a straighter or more curved line.... *surprised pikachu face* oh my gooooood. Your videos have been so helpful!! Thank you!
I've been watching Shyfoxx a lot recently and found you as a result. I'm having a blast watching YT tutorials and I can't thank content creators like you both enough for doing what you do. I feel great atm. Enjoying every second of it! Thanks.
I've always used the technical pen, but after watching your video I've discovered the studio pens and I think i've found my new favourite linear brush!
awesome tutorial! i just got my first ipad and bought procreate before i downloaded any other apps. super excited to start on my emotes but i was feeling pretty overwhelmed by all of the information and tips i found online. this is the best tutorial on line work i have seen!
You can tweak your color drop threshold by not letting go of the color drop and swiping left or right to lower/raise the threshold and then it won't bleed over!
I just tried it now (happened to be working on emotes as we speak, and it did work! I used a pencil with lots of gaps in the pixels and dropped it down to almost 1% and it filled in the lines! Thanks for that tip!
I know a lot of artists and myself use 300dpi! It makes a huge difference when you’re shrinking it down and you can always compress it more if needed ^^
hi shay! is there a difference between resizing your canvas directly on procreate after completing your art or creating ANOTHER blank canvas with desired ratio/setting and then pasting the finished art (on 500x500) on there then shrinking it down to like 112x112, 28x28, etc?
i make a new one simply because i want to have the artwork in a ‘clean’ form too, not as pixelated as an 112 x 112, it helps with retouching in the smaller dimensions because i can go back and see what detail i need to add/remove on the smaller versions. hope that made sense
Thanks for the tutorial, is there any way to lock the zoom of the canvas? I find myself always zooming in and spending too much time on details and tiny errors that won't be noticeable at a 122 pixel size.
Would you say it works to start with an even bigger canvas, like 4000x4000, and shrink it to the 112, 56 and 28 after? If I want to have a good quality version of the emote for other use so to speak. Or would you not recommend making it bigger than 500x500? 😊
You could make it a bit larger, but at sizes that big, some of the brushes might be super small, since they have a max size, and textures might start looking like repetitive patterns instead.
I was just about to comment this - @nerdygeekyart is absolutely correct! Going too large can start to alter the way the brushes work and isn't really recommended. You could go larger than 500px, I'd say the largest would be the 1000 px, but at that point you end up doing too much detail work that isn't needed for a small emote ^_^
oh my goodness!!! haha well it depends on your final work, but if it's a smaller piece, you don't need to go that large since it does limit the amount of layers you can use!
@@VideogameShay I've been using that size for emotes since I started making them and usually don't have any issues with layers and what not 😊 I started that way because a couple clients wanted to do a commercial license so they could use them on merch so the bigger sizes were needed So now I just do it out of habit 😅
I am an 80 year old man that learned a lot from your instruction. You spoke well and seem to be well organized.. Keep up the great work.
when you color drop, you can hold it and slide left and right so it doesn't "bleed out":)
I want to come back and say since I read your comment many months ago, to this date I still use your tip so thank you for this comment!!!
It was so encouraging when you said pencil jitter is common - not just my problem, and it can be overcome with practice

Hi Shay. What DPI setting are you using in this video when you first select the canvas?

Thank you. Very helpful.
Thank you!
I would love to see more videos!
I'll be doing a shading one next! Any other topics you have in mind I love getting ideas from viewers!!!

Hello! I was wondering if there was a way to make animated emotes on procreate for twitch?
You can use their animating feature, but it is frame by frame animation so it can take a long time to get it to look smooth!

If you make it on a new one with higher dpi and shrink it it won’t be as muddy in smaller ratios ^^
Can i ask about dpi usage for the 500x500 and also what is the best brush size
300 dpi, my pen I use at around 10%
Thanks for the tutorial, is there any way to lock the zoom of the canvas? I find myself always zooming in and spending too much time on details and tiny errors that won't be noticeable at a 122 pixel size.
I'm not entirely sure, I usually use a small reference canvas on the side that is locked!
What do you use to stream your iPad screen?
Great tutorial 🧡
Thank you! Cheers!
Good tutorial. I have a hard time shading.
My next video will be a shading tutorial :)
For the pen, I think it’s the spacing. You can fix this in properties!
Thank you!
*-* pls more videos we love you
I have new ones uploaded go check them out!

@@VideogameShay aaah thank you both so much for the answer! :3
Mine is the same thickness regardless of how much pressure I’m using. Is there a setting you forgot to mention about that?
To adjust pressure sensitivity just to go edit the brush and go under the Apple Pencil Pressure. You can adjust any brush!
How do you find the Stabilization tab? my procreate is up to date and the brush menu creation looks nothing like that
Open brush studio, edit brush or hit the +, stabilization tab on the left side ^^
I have an Apple pen but for some reason It won’t let me do any pressure
My issue is when I convert my icon to Discord as an emote, the outlines are too thin. What Studio Pen size did you use? Thanks!
Pourquoi c’est pixéliser en 500 x 500?
ilove you mam keep it up ... very helpful tuts
How to setting pokemon design style?
What do you mean?
