Always love watching your videos and the food is all mouthwatering!!! The home cooked dinner looks amazing too! Looking forward for more videos! Have an awesome trip and stay safe!
So nice to see someone so happy and enthusiastic enjoying Cantonese food (which is truly one of the world's greatest cuisines and in my opinion the best style of Chinese food!
Eastwood Peking Seafood Restaurant ( located in Eastwood if you hadn’t already guessed 🤪) serves Peking Duck. 5 min walk from home yet I haven’t had it in ages, I’m well overdue! Nominate the day and I’ll see you there!
Hahaha I love the homestyle cooking. My Father in law worked as a Chinese Chef and it always amazes me how he can make 6-8 dishes within 1-2 hours when we come over for diner. We can eat 3 days off of it. Once quarantine requirements are over we wil fly to HK ASAP.
Don't know if it still open since haven't been to Hong Kong since 2020, the restaurant called Social Place in Central in really good. I really love their roast pigeon. There's also a very good pecking duck restaurant in K11 mall.
Hey Janice! For peking duck pancakes in Sydney, go to a BBQ shop (Cabramatta) and then buy the whole roast duck! Ask them NOT to chop it. Then, go to an Asian grocery store to buy pancakes, fresh cucumber, shallots and hoisin sauce! Bob's your uncle! It's so much cheaper to eat it this way! P.S. I love how your mum is so generous with her energy and effort to ensure you eat yummy food! P.P.S. Those octopus cards bring back memories!
Also when you get the chance with sticky rice dumplings, you should try the Nyonya Dumplings which is popular in Singapore. A little harder to get them in Melbourne or Sydney but if you come across, it is a must to try. Very different from the ones from Hong Kong and China.
8:34 Even treats can be healthy and so satisfying ^u^. TDU Solar Crown, releasing next year, is a driving video game set in a full scale version of Hong Kong. I feel this & watching ur vids is the closest thing I'm gonna get to HK.
Hi Janice, yes it is not in Sydney but when you are in Melbourne next, try the Peking duck from Old Kingdom and Simon's Peking Duck. They then to do it more the Beijing way but really good.
The jelly pork dish is zhenjiang crystal pork, but usually the jelly part (btw. made only naturally from the pork gelatine like in head cheese) is crystal clear and is dipped in dark vinegar etc. I guess they already mixed it hence the colour. Loved this vlog
Woohoo first feet on the ground vid. I have to say your editing is getting so much better every vid. I have to pinch myself its not a Netflix raw series.
Love your vlogs, I am from Sydney too, missed HK so much, hope I can go back once quarantine requirement is lifted. Imperial Peking at Blakehurst got a really nice Peking duck and all of the other foods are really 👍🏻
As always a great vlog💕 I love how you put some much great content in all your videos Janice it’s appreciated..All the food looked delicious 🤤..I love when you and your mum cook have you thought of maybe getting your mum to cook some of her delicious recipes on your channel ..x🥰💕
Her mum needs her own channel. Lol. It can be her brother and sister and her mum doing a made with lau type channel with Janice only behind the scenes :, and making guest appearances
I have been waiting patiently for your restaurant adventure since your landed in HK..haha. Thank you for the updates on HK, I really miss my travels there. Travel safe and enjoy HK.
Not HK style food, but if you're feeling a little bougie.. I definitely recommend Honjokko in Quarry Bay! Their brunch is incredible. As per local; Biang Biang Noodles (Yau Yuen Siu Tsui ) and Janenbean are great!
Golden Computer Arcade ... it's on my list to visit! Computer geek here 🤓 (by the way good choice for the Hard Drives). The food is amazing! Everything look so good, your mom's cooking even more. I tried doing a Peking duck with the wraps and everything before. It took me 12 hours and It was not remotely as good as a real one. Now I let this to the professionals! This trip looks promising!
Golden Computer Center is my happy place. There is a 3rd floor but you need to go around the back of the building and there is some stairs up. There is another one in Mong Kok called Sim City. A little hard to find but worth it for cameras and some phone stuff. Always check the price and haggle. then there are a few in Wah Chai - 298 and 198 and the computer center near the MTR. I am sure I get the gweilo price at first but after some negotiations think I get a pretty good price.. You also need to visit 金華冰廳 (Kam Wah Cafe) on Butt Street Mong Kok for a pineapple bun. Worth a visit. I would say go to the floating Jumbo restaurant in Aberdeen, but it was towed away and has sunk in the South China Sea somewhere. very sad. Enjoy your time back in HK.
@@JaniceFung There is a website called 'Price' that allows you to check what other shops in HK are selling products for. There is also an app for your phone. For example the hard drive you brought you can check the price and use the app to haggle. Very useful as it has save me alot of time and money. Well worth getting the app.
The Shanghai sticky rice dumpling seemed a bit like Law Mai Gai, would you agree? As usual your mum's cooking looked like the pick of the bunch though both restaurant's food seemed pretty good too.
I think there's a pretty big variety - you can get really cheap eats at Cha Chaan Tengs and local yum cha places, but there are also restaurants that charge a lot more than what I'd expect for what it is
Janice my dear, Do you think JB HiFi uses the same graphic artist for their price tickets as the people in Golden Arcade? I'm sure the tickets are identical!
tbh it doesnt have a lot of taste itself but it takes on the flavour of whatever it's being cooked wth. it's got an interesting texture - a bit gelatinous and chewy
seriously contemplating buying one of those portable electronic fans and then attaching it to my vlog camera or something lol
do it, it pays to stay cool
I use the portable electronic fan wherever I go
Hong Kong is a food paradise
