  • Today I bring you a type of Cantonese dim sum, shrimp toast. Just a couple days ago, my friend Nina asked me how to make shrimp toast. It’s one of her family’s favorites. So I made her my shrimp toast and she thinks it’s the best. It’s crunchy, flaky, and sumptuous. So here I’m sharing this recipe with everyone.

    I tried the recipe for the first time recently, and it was a hit. However, I've asked friends who have eaten shimp toast before, and they said that not using a blender is best. I used the blender and it made the shrimp to much like a paste. Not using a blender will change the texture for the better I think, but the taste will be the same... so, texture is something to consider, but overall, the recipe is EXCELLENT!

      So glad that you like this recipe! Yep. I also chopped the shrimp with my knife. There’s no blender needed for this recipe. 😊👍

    I like shrimp toast, but there is another shrimp dish like this I like more...it's basically the same thing, but without the toast...not sure what it is called, but would love to be able to cook it.

    THE BEST SHRIMP TOAST I EVER HAD WAS AT A RESTAURANT CALLED NANKING IN MPLS, MN. IT WAS MY FIRST TIME. MY COUSIN DIANA TREATED ME (ON HER BIRTHDAY). I HAVE NEVER HAD AS GOOD OR BETTER YET. WHEN I ORDER FROM RESTAURANTS IT IS BURNT OR GREASY. CAN'T WAIT TO TRY. STAY TUNED.

      They were indeed popular in St. Louis in the ‘80s/early ‘90s. Port Orient in St. Peters did a great shrimp toast in the late ‘80s… These look good, too. Breadcrumbs and cilantro? Not sure about that, but hey.

    Cilantro stems? Just wondering what the steams do compared to the leaf? Also does it enhance the flavor?

    • @CiCiLi
      @CiCiLi  3 роки тому +1

      They taste the same. But the stems have a crunchier texture. And the leaves will change to darker color after cooking for some time. The stems will remain green. So it's for both texture and appearance. ☺️

      @@CiCiLi Thanks so much for the reply. I’ll try vegetable oil. I wasn’t sure. Some use peanut etc. Every once in a while I get a shrimp toast hankering. My favorite restaurant where I use to go for this is almost 3,000 miles away!! I moved across the country. Lol. I’m in the SW USA and need to explore Asian places to eat near me. That’s why I decided to try these for my family. Your ingredients seem close to what I had before. Can’t wait to make these. So many recipes, but sometimes basic is better!!!
