- Today I bring you a type of Cantonese dim sum, shrimp toast. Just a couple days ago, my friend Nina asked me how to make shrimp toast. It’s one of her family’s favorites. So I made her my shrimp toast and she thinks it’s the best. It’s crunchy, flaky, and sumptuous. So here I’m sharing this recipe with everyone.

Believe it or not, I've never had shrimp toast. But they look so yummy! I want to try this now.
We love this recipe for shrimp toast!
I am definitely a big fan now. Love your videos
I love love love shrimp toast! 😁
You are amazing and skillful !
I tried the recipe for the first time recently, and it was a hit. However, I've asked friends who have eaten shimp toast before, and they said that not using a blender is best. I used the blender and it made the shrimp to much like a paste. Not using a blender will change the texture for the better I think, but the taste will be the same... so, texture is something to consider, but overall, the recipe is EXCELLENT!
So glad that you like this recipe! Yep. I also chopped the shrimp with my knife. There’s no blender needed for this recipe. 😊👍
I love shrimp toast but the restaurant I used too get this from, closed years ago here.
So glad you posted this video on how too make this. Thank you very much! ☺☺☺
This recipe is easy and great
Looks so amazing 😋😍👌😁❤️❤️
Great for the great instructions...it sounds like the perfect appetizer to make in these times!
Glad that you like it!
The first time I ever had shrimp toast was over 30 years ago at a gala event. They were SO delicious and I'm so thankful for how concise your recipe is! Will be preparing this today for snack time with friends, thank you, CiCi!

I made these just like you've shown in the video. They were so fresh tasting and delicious. I'm making them again tomorrow for a superbowl treat. I just love them. Thanks for the recipe 👍

My wife's name is Veronica.
Great Trick! The egg and breadcrumbs keep the White Bread base from absorbing too much Oil.
very good thanks for showing us this
You are very welcome!
Yummy looking. Thank you.
Thanks Sarah! ☺️
I love shrimp toast and this looks so good!! I will substitute minced scallions for the cilantro though. I hate that stuff. Thanks for the recipe
Good idea.!!!
This made me hungry...
I like shrimp toast, but there is another shrimp dish like this I like more...it's basically the same thing, but without the toast...not sure what it is called, but would love to be able to cook it.
I've tried Chicken toast before and it was amazing , had to try this shrimp version. Thanks 🤗
Keep me posted on how you like this recipe when you try it. ☺️👍
@@CiCiLi absolutely I will. I really need to learn moreeeee of Oriental Cuisine. 😊🙏
Are you on Instagram??
My favorite appetizer shrimp 🍤 toast
😊👍
I'm trying these, I'm subscribing too
Welcome to my kitchen! And thank you for subscribing to my channel! ☺️
Shrimp Toast😋
I used sesame seeds to coat the outside n chopped spring onions
Shrimp Toast is very popular in Asian and so is the Ground Pork Toast.
Both of these are great for snacks!!
Thank you for your insights! 👍
THE BEST SHRIMP TOAST I EVER HAD WAS AT A RESTAURANT CALLED NANKING IN MPLS, MN. IT WAS MY FIRST TIME. MY COUSIN DIANA TREATED ME (ON HER BIRTHDAY). I HAVE NEVER HAD AS GOOD OR BETTER YET. WHEN I ORDER FROM RESTAURANTS IT IS BURNT OR GREASY. CAN'T WAIT TO TRY. STAY TUNED.
I loved Nankin's shrimp toast too, miss it so much. I'm curious if you tried this recipe and if it stands up to Nankins?
I like your ring. Where can I get it?
Tried another version was ok will try yours though
how was it
Had these in the only Chinese restaurant I have found them in. Never forgot them. They were so so good. Thank you so much. Now I can make my own. I'm not a big fan of carrots subbing for green onions.

Lol I leave the crusts on but I love this recipe. In fact I have done it with tilapia and catfish. I know...I know ..but it tastes good.

I was thinking about walleye toast when I watched this. Something different then the few ways we cook them typically
Thnks cutie
Looks delicious. Can you make it for me?
👍👍👍❤️
There used to be a restaurant here in St Louis called Hunan wok that used to make this it is no longer on the menu. this is probably my favorite appetizer. if I was on death row I would demand to have this is my last meal. Lol
LOL. Now you can make this in your own kitchen! Best wishes John! 😊🙏
They were indeed popular in St. Louis in the ‘80s/early ‘90s. Port Orient in St. Peters did a great shrimp toast in the late ‘80s… These look good, too. Breadcrumbs and cilantro? Not sure about that, but hey.
You are so cute and that Shrimp toast looks the best..
Cilantro stems? Just wondering what the steams do compared to the leaf? Also does it enhance the flavor?
They taste the same. But the stems have a crunchier texture. And the leaves will change to darker color after cooking for some time. The stems will remain green. So it's for both texture and appearance. ☺️
@@CiCiLi thank you!
What type of oil did you fry these in?
I used vegetable oil in this video. You could use any high smoking point oil. 👍
@@CiCiLi Thanks so much for the reply. I’ll try vegetable oil. I wasn’t sure. Some use peanut etc. Every once in a while I get a shrimp toast hankering. My favorite restaurant where I use to go for this is almost 3,000 miles away!! I moved across the country. Lol. I’m in the SW USA and need to explore Asian places to eat near me. That’s why I decided to try these for my family. Your ingredients seem close to what I had before. Can’t wait to make these. So many recipes, but sometimes basic is better!!!
Seriously? Wonder Bread?
Does the sound cut off in the middle for anyone else?
Hi Tony, thank you for the feedback! This is the same video on FB with perfect soundtrack fb.watch/4IzyKA8STZ/
Did you not first remove the veins from the raw shrimp?
Good point..
maybe the fresh shrimps were sold clean, like the ones I get
Use panko not bread crumbs , this is Asian right? Crispier, better flavor
A lot less greasy than the restaurants
isaac Wilson, Very true! :)
I would have left out the cilantro and the ginger. Everything else looked good.
