On Hannah’s side. If you get someone a gift or a treat, it’s for them to enjoy how they want. I could understand being angry if Hannah woke you up and made you go out to get her a coffee and then didn’t drink it til later. But you’re the one who chose to do this, so if you’re giving her a gift then just let her do what she wants with it.

      I agree 100% with Hannah.
Also guys, you need to learn to pick your battles.
Sometimes it's best to just take a knee. Lol
You can either be RIGHT or you can be happy but you cant always be both.
Save yourself the argument and use some self control over your tongue and just let little things slide. No reason to lose your cool over it.
I personally also hold my tongue many times when my husband says or does things that I find irritating etc.
For one, he has a temper sometimes and I'd rather save myself the headache and just let it go unless it's something serious.
And it keeps the peace for longer.
I also try to be slow to anger and quick to forgive and not try to provoke him to anger.
Simply because I hate fighting and drama. And for the most part we are happy and inlove and get along.
We've been married for 18 years.
But I've learned to pick my battles and not allow every little thing to bother me as it would have in the earlier time in our relationship and marriage.

Fun Fact: This movie was filmed in two parts, with a one year break in between for Tom Hanks to get into shape for the rest of the movie. In that time, Robert Zemeckis filmed an entire other movie, "What Lies Beneath" (2000). He even used the same crew for both movies to ensure everyone was available and had steady work in between.

Good spot to Hannah for realizing the whale was waking him up, dolphins and sometimes whales have been documented to have saved humans lost at sea, one humpback whale saved a woman from a shark. Also, the woman at the beginning/ end did have a husband, the package she sends at the start is shown delivered to him and he tells the woman he's with it's from his wife, suggesting he was cheating on her. Tom Hanks cut his knee while working on this movie and got a Staph infection. He got rushed to the hospital to have emergency surgery and stayed there for 3 days. Then he spent around 3 weeks healing before he went back to set. This movie makes him feel so isolated, but there were upwards of 150 people on set during the shoot. The scene where it shows the rope hanging and you realize he contemplated offing himself is heartbreaking. The fact that Ash says that this makes you grateful anything you have knowing the food on the table scene is coming when he is at the airport later. 100% on Hannah’s side on this one Ash. Any favor or kind act shouldn’t have any contingencies or expectations on them. I’ve experienced this firsthand and what ends up happening is you will start saying “No thanks” whenever anything is offered because it actually builds anxiety around the matter. Then the person offering will start feeling uncomfortable and maybe even unsure why this thing has changed and before you know it, tiny resentments are building up in both of you and at that point you may not even be sure why. While I can empathize with Ash’s POV here, because I’ve also experienced for example, cooking a great meal for someone who turns out to not be hungry etc. which can be a bummer, it shouldn’t have any strings attached or expectations beyond them just being appreciative. Love you both though lol. 💜

A part at the ending, that I think you two missed, was the gate arch to the lady's property. At the beginning of the film, when FedEx was making a delivery, she was married, and the name over the gate arch read "Dick Bettina." At the end of the movie, when Chuck was finally delivering the package that he held onto for all those years, the sign on the arch had changed ...... It read simply "Bettina" (The "Dick" had been removed through divorce ..... Pun intended). She evidently had divorced Dick, and got the ranch in the divorce settlement. So, when Chuck came calling, she was available. I liked the way the movie ended. It leaves me to wonder ..... Did he follow her to her place and start his life all over, or did he take one of the other roads, off into the unknown, but just as hopeful?

Regarding symbolic language, I really liked the crossroads he passes at the beginning & end. Crossroads were a place where the veil between the worlds of the living & spirits was thinnest in various cultures. I.e., in Ancient Greek a statue of Hekate, goddess of necromancy, the netherrealms & lost or forgotten souls, was often erected there. Likewise, the "Blessed Isles" were a place of the Greek underworld reserved for heroes & the most virtuous souls after their death. So you could argue, he first crossed over to the land of the dead & managed to return into his old life where everyone just treats him as a sort of unreal ghost. So he has to go back once more to the "intermediate realm" (crossroads), to get "reincarnated" into a new existence that allows him to be the changed person he's become & find happiness again.

That's a very common joke, probably made up the same week this movie premiered. It very unlikely any type of phone available at that time would have saved him. Also, the sequence of him making a fire was the thing that was overdone. He could have made a fire much easier just using the bottom of a bottle to focus sunlight like a lens on some dry wood. The method he used would have been really impractical in that climate.
