@@gabrielus123gabby Yeah no shit, but I don't doubt they're playing over backing tracks. The vocals are clearly not the same but the instrumental is really similar.
This quality of this is on par with the album version. The guitar tones, the vocals, drums, everything, is 100% on point. It's crazy how good this sounds
this is why I love Green Day. They have so much energy when they perform and you can see the fun they're having on stage. I've never seen a band perform with so much energy like Green Day
I wonder what it was like experience that crowd back then I think up until that point that was the biggest concert they had done. Singing along to boulevard of broken dreams with my whole family in the car is one of my most precious childhood memories. 12 years later and probably still the greatest Rock album of the 21st century
I'd say for the time back then 9 minutes was very unheard of but I wouldn't it was ahead of its time I mean if you look at old great rock songs they are pretty long
My ex and i saw the band on the American Idiot tour. I might add, I've seen MANY concerts in my 66 years of age, and this was the best ever! The amount of energy these guys put into their performance is something I've never seen. Green Day is the BEST! 8:37 ❤
Jesus of Suburbia is the best rock song ever performed. Bar none. I'm not even a Green Day superfan... but this song, Lordy Me, ABSOLUTELY SLAPS, then goes quiet, plays with your emotions a bit, THEN SLAPS AGAIN, then has a cup of tea with your feels some more, THEN SLAPS
I was at this concert, and i was right in the front, wearing a checkerboard wristband..sometimes i spot my hand lol. It was the most amazing night of my life....when you're so young and you see your heros on the stage, performing music that means so much..it really is something special.
@JEWEL25 I was born a year before this concert. (2004) and this concert was in 2005. And then im like to bad my parents had sex too late otherwise i couldve been there. That's a dream for me.
6:40 I still get goosebumps at Mike's bass solo and the beginning of Tales of Another Broken Home. And just a killer visual edit on this part of the song. They were doing the glitchy, scattered kind of edit a decade and a half before it was in vogue. The whole film is a masterclass in concert filmmaking.
@cole norum -same here, man. Badass. I remember back in the day trying to show anyone who would look & listen, pieces from this dvd i just got, to share the masterpiece. i was absolutely fascinated. JOS being the ultimate hi light…bumps at start of Mike’s baseline, like you said..everytime, still.
My favorite line of the song, which rings so true is "Land of make believe, and it don't believe in me" I feel like this is a sentiment that many Millennial-age people can completely relate to, especially if you're an American.
If you pay close enough attention to the lyrics, you eventually discover that Jesus Of Suburbia is clinically insane. And yet he’s some kind of Millennial hero who’s worth following?
Even like 12 years after getting this CD/DVD I’m still not sure if the audio is from the live performance. It seems too perfect especially the way they’re jumping around.
I'M THE SON OF RAGE AND LOVE #1 song in my life. I wish people could understand the meaning of the lyrics and how goooood they are. Everybody can relate to this song.
Imagine Green Day perform "Jesus of Suburbia," My Chemical Romance perform "Welcome to the Black Parade," and Queen "Bohemian Rhapsody" in one concert. It would be a theatrical concert masterpiece.
Billie Joe truly is a master at live performances. He puts his heart and soul into each song he plays live. He interacts with the crowd so well that he can get any crowd going. I saw Green Day live twice during the Revolution Radio Tour and the amount of passion that Billie Joe put into his singing and playing was truly remarkable. I highly recommend seeing these guys live to anyone, they’re unlike any other band when it comes to live performances. Green Day was much more in their prime during the American Idiot era, but they still sound unreal during their live performances. It sounds almost identical to their studio albums, it’s even more unreal how great they sound live especially considering how long Green Day has been around (which is over 30 years). I can’t wait until they release their next album and when they go back on tour, I’m absolutely going to another one of their concerts. Fan or not, I recommend anyone to go see these guys live. Those two nights are truly a unforgettable experience for me, two nights that I won’t ever forget.
Fuck Off I’m supposed to be seeing them in Jacksonville, Florida in August but they might postpone the show just like they’ve had to do with the other shows due to the Coronavirus. The show hasn’t been canceled yet, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that they won’t have to cancel.. 🤞🏻
@@markbarrett7243 Awesome man!! Unfortunately the show I was supposed to go to in Jacksonville, FL got rescheduled to July of next year. Hopefully it doesn’t get rescheduled again, or even worse canceled.. The coronavirus can fuck off.
I remember when this first came out on American Idiot everybody was like "wtf there's a 9 minute song??" and then everybody became "frick yes there's a 9 minute song!!!"
When i started listening to green day i was listening to jesus of suburbia and i was like "hol up- a 9 min song?" And after listening to it for like the fifth time i was like "hell yeah a 9 min song"
when i get this album to my hands i was like ''i hope this song never ends'' after almost whole album there was homecoming. i was like these 2 songs are almost as long as dookie full album :D
I am so glad to see people coming here in 2019. There's still hope in reincarnation of the good old music in this age of mumble rappers and fake pop stars.
I never got the fuss behind Green Day and I considered them another teenage punk band but I must admit they have the most fun playing their instruments and the delivery is so honest I can't take my eyes of their live shows, drummer is extremely precise, Billie is a ridiculously good frontmen and he does a great job at handling some of the rhythm guitar sections while singing some tricky vocal lines and their bassist is really well aware of everything going around him and follows them perfectly...I need to see them live.
I've seen Green Day live. They are literally the sharpest band I've seen live. Always keeps the audience engaged. Tre Cool is Green Day's biggest weapon.
People that grew up and watched them in their teens and tweens still watching taking their own teens and tweens to shows. Still have that same energy, that is deserving of respect. I know some hate them either cause they don't fit criteria of genre they like or whatever else, but staying power and bridging generation gaps is not an easy thing to do. Especially today with us so easily distracted.
Hands down, the single best performed song of all time. Nothing compares to the feeling I get when I watch this! Green day is forever my favorite band.
Always hits in the soul, this band is a product of the 90s and showing how it seeped into the new millennium and into that generation, amazing rebel figure for me, also they sound exactly like their studio quality
I agree. I mean there are a lot of bands out there. but i personally think that Green Day are obviously up there.. They let teenagers in my time grow up to be awesome sons o' bitchez man. That proves a lot on one band..
Mr Psychotic Genius yeah I think they are a fantastic band and they had two like really really big great albums in both decades (dookie, american idiot) among their other underrated or relatively "unknown" albums like nimrod, insomniac and even warning and kerplunk ^^. Just wish they hadn't made the trilogy because it kinda brings the band down as a whole even though it shouldn't really matter. Once a great band then it stays that way. But I hope the next album if there is one will be better. Less filler, less overproduced, better written and with the original green day sound. But demolicious was a stepup again from the trilogy so I'm hoping for the best.
Madonna.. I used to LOVE her but she doesn't know when to quit and went waaaaaay over my red line, especially having people in their early 20's that could literally be here children, acting all sexy. It's gross.
if i was one of the 65k people at this moment (6:06) i would be able to die happy.. this song is lyrical beauty and the song is broken up into instrumental masterpieces. good run green day
I am going to a visit their concert in january. Its my first rockconcert ever and I hope it will be legen...wait for it...dary xD And I hope they will play this Song. Its my favourite
i looked this up because i thought they died. I haven't heard from them in awihle... maybe they just dont make this kind of music anymore?? I remember watching this concert on youtube a few weeks after it came out on DVD and wanting to see them live in 2005 or 2006.. never actually did though and i regret it. They were on top of the WORLD then. This is the best song i've ever heard in my life and it brought up all the same emotions it did 13 years ago.
Jeez. I mean, this song is a masterpiece to begin with. And the way this video is shot and the quality of the live performance augments the manic and frantic overtones of it, but also digs deep into the feeling of it. It's one of those pieces of art that tears out a piece of you and holds it up for you to see. For better or worse. It's just masterful.
If I remember correctly while filming this awesome concert DVD Tre cool was snorting donut sprinkles and smoking lettuce. If you don't get this reference I suggest you watch bullet in a Bible as quickly as you can
Hey Papa Jones, totally agree! By the way, if you like Muse you might enjoy our sound too, they're one of our greatest inspirations :) Hope you'll be able to spare a minute to check us out here: ua-cam.com/video/Scl0E5NEiBo/v-deo.html
I remember when American Idiot came out. No words can explain the grip it had on everyone in the rock/emo/goth/punk/alternative communities it was like GTA V of music. People who never owned a GD album before rushed out to get it and played it to death. MTV aired video debuts and BTS of the videos. This performance takes me back to those days. 20 years of American Idiot 🤘🏻

LYRICS
"Jesus Of Suburbia"
[Part 1]
I'm the son of rage and love
The Jesus of Suburbia
From the bible of none of the above
On a steady diet of
Soda pop and Ritalin
No one ever died for my sins in hell
As far as I can tell
At least the ones I got away with
And there's nothing wrong with me
This is how I'm supposed to be
In a land of make believe
That don't believe in me
Get my television fix
Sitting on my crucifix
The living room or my private womb
While the Mom's and Brad's are away
To fall in love and fall in debt
To alcohol and cigarettes
And Mary Jane
To keep me insane,
Doing someone else's cocaine
And there's nothing wrong with me
This is how I'm supposed to be
In a land of make believe
That don't believe in me
[Part 2: City Of The Damned]
At the center of the Earth
In the parking lot
Of the 7-11 where I was taught
The motto was just a lie
It says home is where your heart is
But what a shame
'Cause everyone's heart
Doesn't beat the same
It's beating out of time
City of the dead
At the end of another lost highway
Signs misleading to nowhere
City of the damned
Lost children with dirty faces today
No one really seems to care
I read the graffiti
In the bathroom stall
Like the holy scriptures of a shopping mall
And so it seemed to confess
It didn't say much
But it only confirmed that
The center of the earth
Is the end of the world
And I could really care less
City of the dead
At the end of another lost highway
Signs misleading to nowhere
City of the damned
Lost children with dirty faces today
No one really seems to care
[Part 3: I Don't Care]
I don't care if you don't
I don't care if you don't
I don't care if you don't care
[4x]
I don't care
Everyone is so full of shit
Born and raised by hypocrites
Hearts recycled but never saved
From the cradle to the grave
We are the kids of war and peace
From Anaheim to the middle east
We are the stories and disciples
Of the Jesus of suburbia
Land of make believe
And it don't believe in me
Land of make believe
And it don't believe
And I don't care!
I don't care! [4x]
[Part 4: Dearly Beloved]
Dearly beloved are you listening?
I can't remember a word that you were saying
Are we demented or am I disturbed?
The space that's in between insane and insecure
Oh, therapy, can you please fill the void?
Am I retarded or am I just overjoyed?
Nobody's perfect and I stand accused
For lack of a better word, and that's my best excuse
[Part 5: Tales Of Another Broken Home]
To live and not to breathe
Is to die in tragedy
To run, to run away
To find what you believe
And I leave behind
This hurricane of fucking lies
I lost my faith to this
This town that don't exist
So I run, I run away
To the lights of masochists
And I leave behind
This hurricane of fucking lies
And I walked this line
A million and one fucking times
But not this time
I don't feel any shame, I won't apologize
When there ain't nowhere you can go
Running away from pain when you've been victimized
Tales from another broken home
You're leaving...
You're leaving...
You're leaving...
Ah you're leaving home...
Everybody knows it by heart. It's a freaking anthem!

Spot on mate!

I was at this concert, and i was right in the front, wearing a checkerboard wristband..sometimes i spot my hand lol. It was the most amazing night of my life....when you're so young and you see your heros on the stage, performing music that means so much..it really is something special.

JOS being the ultimate hi light…bumps at start of Mike’s baseline, like you said..everytime, still.
they have been 15 years ahead of the game in a lot of things, especially the brilliant insights into society in their music
One of the few bands that I think is better live than on the recording...
All Version (Studio & Live) of Green Day is best Version..
But for Dream Teather I like their Live than Their studio recording..
I love we are the waiting -live... It sounds the same as the studio version but i tear up when I see how happy billie is when he is live
Certainly more energy with their love performances
Mcr doesn't exist
@@hypocrite6sic626 MCR definitely sounds better in the studio although they had amazing stage presence!
My favorite line of the song, which rings so true is "Land of make believe, and it don't believe in me" I feel like this is a sentiment that many Millennial-age people can completely relate to, especially if you're an American.
No I don't think us millennials do
Not only America but everywhere. I, Pakistani, came of age listening to Green Day and their stuff is the only thing that really resonates with me.
If you pay close enough attention to the lyrics, you eventually discover that Jesus Of Suburbia is clinically insane. And yet he’s some kind of Millennial hero who’s worth following?
Billies voice is the only person that I’ve ever heard that their voice sounds exactly like the recording
kurt
Even like 12 years after getting this CD/DVD I’m still not sure if the audio is from the live performance. It seems too perfect especially the way they’re jumping around.
Maynard
Bradlee Stethen don’t forget Kurt cobain
Pink floyd somehow sound better live than recorded
In 2024 sounds better than ever 🎶

Imagine Green Day perform "Jesus of Suburbia,"
My Chemical Romance perform "Welcome to the Black Parade,"
and Queen "Bohemian Rhapsody" in one concert.
It would be a theatrical concert masterpiece.
Salatiel Jyrus Tumanan that would be the best
Bohemian rhapsody would have to be with Freddy. Queens not the same without him
And Stairway to Heaven of Led Zeppelin, don't forget November Rain of GNR, then it could be the best concert ever.

In front of such a crowd i mean look how many is there of them
They must be used to it!
Must be why they're running around all over the place. Looks fun as all hell.
Omg I think I wouldn't do that😆
Billie Joe truly is a master at live performances.
They were supposed to come to Finland in may but because of Coronavirus they aren’t and I was supposed to go and I am really sad now:(
Fuck Off I’m supposed to be seeing them in Jacksonville, Florida in August but they might postpone the show just like they’ve had to do with the other shows due to the Coronavirus. The show hasn’t been canceled yet, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that they won’t have to cancel.. 🤞🏻
Could. Not. Agree. More!!
I saw them in Hyde Park..they were fuckin incredible..👌👌
@@markbarrett7243 Awesome man!! Unfortunately the show I was supposed to go to in Jacksonville, FL got rescheduled to July of next year. Hopefully it doesn’t get rescheduled again, or even worse canceled.. The coronavirus can fuck off.

Best Band Ever to Exist !
I remember when this first came out on American Idiot everybody was like "wtf there's a 9 minute song??" and then everybody became "frick yes there's a 9 minute song!!!"
When i started listening to green day i was listening to jesus of suburbia and i was like "hol up- a 9 min song?"
And after listening to it for like the fifth time i was like "hell yeah a 9 min song"
when i get this album to my hands i was like ''i hope this song never ends'' after almost whole album there was homecoming. i was like these 2 songs are almost as long as dookie full album :D
This and Homecoming....had me thirsting for more long songs by them. Thank goodness for Forever Now and Dirty Rotten Bastards!
and then another one
I am so glad to see people coming here in 2019. There's still hope in reincarnation of the good old music in this age of mumble rappers and fake pop stars.

Green Day = The best 👈👈
I never got the fuss behind Green Day and I considered them another teenage punk band but I must admit they have the most fun playing their instruments and the delivery is so honest I can't take my eyes of their live shows, drummer is extremely precise, Billie is a ridiculously good frontmen and he does a great job at handling some of the rhythm guitar sections while singing some tricky vocal lines and their bassist is really well aware of everything going around him and follows them perfectly...I need to see them live.
did you see them live on the revrad tour?
You are the nicest hater I have ever seen. Thanks.
I've seen Green Day live. They are literally the sharpest band I've seen live. Always keeps the audience engaged. Tre Cool is Green Day's biggest weapon.
Green day is the best band in the world in my opinion

Punk rock
People that grew up and watched them in their teens and tweens still watching taking their own teens and tweens to shows. Still have that same energy, that is deserving of respect. I know some hate them either cause they don't fit criteria of genre they like or whatever else, but staying power and bridging generation gaps is not an easy thing to do. Especially today with us so easily distracted.

Always hits in the soul, this band is a product of the 90s and showing how it seeped into the new millennium and into that generation, amazing rebel figure for me, also they sound exactly like their studio quality
BEST BAND EVER PERIOD
Good band yes, but wouldn't say best. Good for this generation.
Mr Psychotic Genius No, its the best :p
I guess it's good that you think they are the best and not One Direction or some shit like that. I just think they are the best of this past decade.
But demolicious was a stepup again from the trilogy so I'm hoping for the best.
i love green day, i love slayer and madonna! nobody can tell me what i have to listen!
same, i love skrillex, megadeth and green day!

Madonna.. I used to LOVE her but she doesn't know when to quit and went waaaaaay over my red line, especially having people in their early 20's that could literally be here children, acting all sexy. It's gross.

i looked this up because i thought they died.
There is nothing like seeing how happy Green Day is❤️
Wish I could go back in time and go to this concert... looks absolutely incredible. I would literally buy the ticket to England just to go.
They can write good music, we gotta give ‘em that! And they’ve been at it longer than most.
so much memories w/ this song
cool!
Why does Tre always look like he is happy
Megan B he probably is..I mean who would not be, he’s the best drummer of this goddamn generation
