- Mark and Daniel discuss the deepest darkest secret of LEGO(R), the unreleased theme from the early 90's. But not only do they just talk about Sea-Tron, Daniel has painstakingly remade all the Sea-tron / Sea People sets ever shown to the world! They break down the difficulties of finding or remaking non-production parts and colors and how it can be tricky recreating many models off of a single blurry picture!

As the person who designed the Seatron prototype back in the day, this is absolutely amazing to see! Incredible effort, great job!
you should model the parts in 3d and add them to ldraw parts library if there is pieces that are missing if you still got the designs.

To be honest I had forgotten all about that model + many others (it's been a long time 😅). But it was a nice surprise to find out the LEGO Company had saved many of the old images from the 80s/90s The monorail track having a upper + lower level seemed to fit nicely with an underwater / above water concept, but probably too narrow to become an actual set.. @@double_king

This guy is a chad for recreating the prototypes from the photos. It's really cool to get a better look at what these would have been like.
I also chuckled at the comment about the '90s printed parts being so well made that it was hard to get the printing off.
There is actually more Seatron images that were in a recently published book called "Lego Space 1978-1992" . It has a single picture of with a sign saying aquadomes. It didn't say if it is part of the Seatron line but described it as "a subtheme featuring spaceships on an ocean planet"so I presume it is referring to Seatron. I think this is the first time that the image has been shown to the public as I can't find it anywhere in the internet.
I did see that! I think it may have to be next on my list to recreate! The sign definitely seems in line with the "sea people" one
Let's face it...I think everyone would be interested in buying custom seatron minifigures!

Amazing video. This was like seeing Jurassic Park for the first time, constantly thinking "this is truly amazing, am I actually seeing this?". I love Lego monorails and seeing a real Seatron monorail is fantastic! Great job and thanks for sharing your amazing builds!

@@ubervocal8777 Good to know! Appreciate the info, I haven't gotten a copy of the book yet as I wasn't sure if there would be any Sea-tron material in it 😂
@@double_king The only photo they have of Seatron is the one from Brick Journal magazine and it's very small. Bjarne mentions that he went on a trip to Paris and Monaco to look at submarines as part of their research. He still works at Lego as a designer so you may be able to get in touch with him to get more background.
@@double_king I've just finished reading the book. Bjarne Panduro Tveskov is no longer an employee of Lego but continues to work with them on occasion as an independent contractor. They mention that Seatron was completely ready to go, including box art mockups, before being cancelled. To get more about Seatron, we'll need assist from Bjarne for his memories and Lego to allow access to launch photos (which they have likely saved).
I have been working to recreate some of these sets as well. This made my day! Excellent work!

Really interesting! Two things that really struck me!
1-building from just photos reminded me of when we bought Black Knight's Castle Item No: 6086-1 from a friend as children when he "outgrew" Lego. This was in the 90s, we had no instructions and the internet wasn't a thing, so we just had the picture form the little advertising sheet from another set, and my Dad took it to work and copied it in B&W to make it bigger.
2-I'm hoping to do a bit space build in the next couple years out of my collection of bricks (after my current western push is done and ready to be all torn apart) and underwater always interested me too, excited with the idea of including under water/liquid part in my space moc from this idea!
Just insane ! It's extremely rare when a creation surprise me but THIS ONE is, like I said "Insane" !

I just found out this afternoon about a “4th unreleased monorail set” so after a quick google search I end up here!
You’ve done an amazing job on recreating the train.
As someone else has mentioned, are you considering putting its instructions for sale anywhere?
Great video! I like to think that this is the continuation of the Ice Planet 2002 history, like the Ice Planet explorers finally finished heating up the planet. So Futuron has come to help the Ice Planet crew extract the great resources from the seabed. And they end up making first contact with the underwater aliens (kinda Saturn's satellite Europa reference). I know this is impossible, because Sea Tron was mean to came before Ice Planet 2002. But for me, it's a funny theory anyway.
I think the sub with the tubes is supposed to be a squid/cuttlefish, if you split the tubes and points them "backward" it will take the shape of a squid with the spearhead like body.
I'm a little bit unsure about the sea people, but I would definitively buy the SeaTron set.

@@double_king I’ve read that article many times but I don’t remember anything about “Europa” or “1920s” are those form a different article?
@@TheStanishStudios Correct, that article was in an issue that only covered space topics. If you Google "Lego unreleased" and Europa, Colonials, 1920's, or gangster, I'm sure you can find information from a few different sources

I've been trying to recreate the sea people ships for awhile, so it was really cool seeing them in higher quality than a blurry photo! Btw, I would 100% buy a Seatron logo shirt!

"Sea-Tron" was a name created by fans.
Here are some better LEGO Space subtheme names I would've chosen:
* Aqua Planet
* Sea Planet
* Water Planet
* Aquatron
* Hydrotron
* Ocean Planet
