- Mark and Daniel take a quick break from the increasingly warm summer to go to the frozen wastes of ICE PLANET 2002, one of the COOLest classic space themes of the 90's! They discuss each set and detail of this iconic theme and finish the video with a quick LEGO® Racers excursion.

RIP Trans Neon Orange. These sets are even more spectacular under black light as the transparent pieces turn practically radioactive red!
The two cockpits attach to the other two halves of the ship. Giving the user two sets in one!

Kelvin is a temperature scale, btw. Zero degrees K is the lowest hypothetical temperature possible, colder than outer space !
Easily one of my favorite themes, nostalgia hits hard. Rebuilding the deep freeze defender last year got me back into lego after a 20 year break. Thanks for the video
This is my number 2 favorite theme.
I remember when ice planet came out, I was blown away by that color scheme. My friend Joey got the big ship. I was jealous and sort of hated him for a day, then he invited me over to build it with him, and it turned out a great memory!

I would probably say Ice Planet was about research and exploration of that specific planet considering the amount of satellites and launching platforms they had.

Great thorough video. I had the tiniest set as a kid and always wanted the home base, which I acquired (a childhood grail) this weekend, in addition to a smaller set. Going to work on collecting them all now.

Great how you included the game! The Iceplanet speedway was one of my favorite tracks.
The theme has not too many sets but it's very easy to make an original build that fits the theme.
My all time favorite lego world!!! .....and I only had 3 sets hahaha...the little jet, the tunnelator, and the plow
The middle section of the Deep Freeze Defender looks like the inspiration for the Pirate Snub Fighter from Mandalorian season 3.
The giant transparent quarter dome piece is, hands down, my favorite Lego piece. So far as I can tell, it's the biggest transparent system brick Lego has produced and the faceted design supports maximum display value of their colors.
Same! That part has been a favorite of mine for ages. They produced it in a pretty good selection of colors (Trans Neon Green, Trans Neon Orange, Trans Green, Trans Dark Blue, and Trans Yellow) but the Neon Green and Yellow seem to be extra rare because they came in big sets which only included 1 of that part instead of 2 like some did. Almost every different color is exclusive to 1 set, except for Trans Dark Blue which came in 4 sets so it's much more common.
I think it's too bad that LEGO doesn't produce many of their angular canopy parts anymore. Most of the ones they make now are curved and rounded, and they just aren't the same as the old ones with their angles. I like the angles because they tend to match up with the angles on various slope bricks, so building around them to match the contours is easy.
@@lammyjammy I think the facets on these pieces make the most of these jewel-like colors (e.g. sapphire blue, emerald green, etc.). I used Bricklink to find all the sets where these appeared, and to get some extra because you never know when you might need one or two... dozen.

It does look like the small space wheels were first introduced in 1993. Which is crazy because I figured the whole set of these space wheels (in all the 4 sizes) was probably introduced at the same time, but the small ones first appeared in the Ice Planet sets in White, and in 1 Space Police Set in black, both in '93.
Then I got curious and looked up the rest. The large space wheels were the first, released in a Space Police I set in 1989. Then in 1990, M-Tron came around and introduced the medium and giant sized space wheels (The giant size is the rarest, having only been produced in 3 sets and 3 colors, black, light gray, and orange). Then the set of 4 sizes was completed in '93 like I said, with the small wheels.
5:17 Life on *Mars, Mars* Mission, 2019 City was also Mars, 2022 City was set on Luna, Friends is Mars as well.
The rack and pinion system was used in Futuron!
Everyone do yourself a favor and pause the video on the comic book pages, and try to read the “You captured me… NOT” without doing a Borat impersonation. It’s not possible.

I got every one of these sets back when they originally came out except for the Deep Freeze Defender, and i had that poster too! I’m pretty sure it was included in an issue of Lego magazine
Such a great video of one of my favorite themes!! Thanks Daniel for bringing in your sets to show! Glad you also mentioned the little factoid on the female minifigure. Hopefully one day I can get the base set or the large spacecraft.

I always teamed ice planet and m tron cause both had magnets and mtron needed a base
My buddy recently got a haul of ice planet sets. Complete, in very good condition and with box. Pictures on my IG and youtube community tab.
