A friend of mine's husband applied for a job there. The company put them up in a luxury hotel and flew them there. While they were there, a bunch of their things were stolen from their room, many of those things were very valuable such as original diplomas and certifications for the job interview. When they complained to the hotel staff, the staff threatened to report their "complaints" to the compnay. The company promptly dropped the interviews and told them to pay for the hotel room because they were going to be "trouble makers" and didnt want them in their company. Their return ticket was cancelled and they ended up returning at their own expense. They were told they were lucky they werent reported to the police. Their experience taught them that you learn to keep your mouth shut and never complain about anything. Victim blaming is over the top there.

Not only Arabia, it's practiced in most of the third world I've seen it in the Congo were one ethnic group comes to power and enslaves the other weaker ethnic groups
So does America. Do some research into the prison system and how profitable it is. And how certain areas are veiwed as farms to create more prison inmates. But yea obviously whats happening in Dubai to migrant workers is wrong. Its all exploitative capitalism

There is a saying in Britain. "Fur coat and no knickers!" I like to think it's meaning is self-explanatory .
Yup, never heard that before but it sums things up perfectly
A fur coat and no knickers sounds sexy, Dubai is not sexy, I think it's bloody ugly.

But its different from westerners

I can honestly say that I really don't have any desire to go there.... Yes it is safe.... For some.... For many there it's a living nightmare... It's safe if you got money it seems and of course if you obey but like what was said about the workers....doesn't seem very safe for them...

American women were given a glimpse of Dubai's reality when they viewed Sex and the City 2nd movie. Listen.... the REAL reality is that if 'Samantha' acted that way in Dubai, she would have been whisked away, jailed without council, and possibly never heard from again. Her friends would have been gas lighted and threatend so they had to abandon her or suffer the same fate. I lived with my parents in Bahrain when my father worked there for decades and we heard first hand many stories about Dubai. I've been to Dubai last August 2023. It's definitely not the United States. If you're considering going, know that our rights we take for granted, aren't existent. From my experience, I saw a land that's propped up by corruption and ladies, your 'rights' aren't getting you anywhere. Be safe traveling and by no means go off on your own to 'Discover'. You may discover unspeakable things happening to you.
