What about Gendo? He wiped out the human race just to be with his wife again (as a fused being) he abandoned his son Shinji, then cloned his dead wife into a little girl raising her instead of his son. Then when the kaiju named angels starts appearing again after 15 years he calls his now mentally unstable son for so to trick and pressure him to fight the monsters in a cyborg mech (which by the way is fused with his mothers soul).
Okay, In Naruto's defense. They make it apparent that he feels bad about it and that he regrets not being able to spend more time with his family. Plus they make it clear that the entire village is his family and that he goes out of his way to still make time for Hinata,Boruto, and Himiwari. Plus he tried the clone thing, It ended badly. Now if we wanna talk bad dads from that show. Sasuke hasn't even been around for Sarada for like 90% of her life! In fact when they first met up in the anime he didn't even recognize her and tried to attack/KILL HER! Pretty sure that puts you on the bad dad list.

But the "worst father ever" crown for the Naruto/Boruto franchise belongs to a character from the latter : BIG SPOILER below Said character is Kawaki's father, unlike Raasa (Gaara's father if I'm not mistakening his name) Hìashi and Fugaku, he NEVER found or sought any kind of value in his offspring, he just kept to beat his son FOR THE ENTIRETY of his life, until the new big bad literally bought Kawaki from him for a lot of money.
I don't think Naruto deserves to be on the list, not when you have Sasuke roaming around the world while his daughter and wife are at home chilling. Not to mention the first time he sees her, he threatens her. And he wasn't even there for the birth, Karin was there cause both Sakura and her were trying to find Sasuke. Naruto, at least, has the excuse that he is Hokage and views everyone in the village as family (like the First & Third did), so he cannot give Boruto and Himawari the attention they want. yes, Sasuke was on a big mission, but it wasn't as if he didn't have down time at some point. I'm just waiting for a storyline where they find out Sasuke had a illegitimate child somewhere.
Sasuke is not roaming around having fun he's on a too secret mission so he can protect his home and family from literal gods. Him being a bad dad would be him chilling with his family ignoring the threat
Okay, if that's true, show me the scene that confirms that. And even so, again, the first time he sees her, he doesn't recognize her, and threatens her with his sword. He wasn't even there for her birth. Now he's around, when he can be, and you could argue Naruto as ample time to spend since he's in the village and is an expert on Shadow Clones, but he's Hokage, and prior to becoming Hokage, he was there, as seen at the end of The Last. Sasuke, with his Space-Time Ninjutsu and his Hawk and Snake Summons, could also be more involved in Sarada's life. As far this list is concern, most of the blame can be put on Boruto in regards to the Boruto-Naruto relationship, and on Sasuke on the Sarada-Sasuke relationship.
But if we really have to pick a dad from the Naruto series...what about the Fourth Kazekage? Literally had kids and had them tested to be the next Jinchuriki, tested his son by sending his uncle to attempt to kill him, and, knowing he would die, told said uncle to tell him that he was never loved, and making his son feared throughout the village to be the ultimate weapon for the village. To sum up how bad of a dad he was, the first time he sees Gaara when he is reanimated, he's more surprised that he had friends than the fact that Gaara became Kazekage...Second Mizukage sums up everyone's thought.
Now that I think about it, Peter Griffin really is the worst fictional father. He's a lazy, casually sadistic, and impulsive jackass that makes Fire Lord Ozai from Avatar: The Last Airbender look like Dad of the Year material.

Would've put Ghetsis on this list. He'd make it to #3.5, maybe even #2.5. I mean, raising a kid and filling his head with hopes and dreams, just so he could use him as a pawn and then betray him at a critical moment, calling him an abomination to his face... not to mention it's implied he was planning on personally killing him as soon as he "fulfilled his purpose". Hey, come on now. He only neglected his son for a clone of his wife, treats him with nothing but contempt and disdain, and made him have a front row seat to his berserk mecha's autopilot mostly or successfully murdering a friend or love interest. To be fair, it's mostly just neglect and a fear of attachment, and the latter incident largely was a necessarily tactical decision to potentially save the human race from being turned into tang. When you look at it objectively, Gendo didn't do anything anywhere near as malicious as most/all of this list.

But Naruto has sent clones to train Boruto while he works, and he did make a clone to make a cake for Himawari, though he did pass out from exhaustion and the clone vanished dropping the cake, but had it been the real Naruto anyways, him passing out would’ve still dropped the cake. Boruto has even told Sasuke he would prefer him as a Father, and Sasuke didn’t even return to the village or see his Daughter until Naruto brought Sarada to Him. Sarada has told Boruto she would prefer Naruto as a Father because he’s an amazing man and that it’s a shame Boruto doesn’t understand that. Then when Sasuke returns, he tries to be a dad, but ends up remaining a bit distant still. Naruto when he was the only one with contact with Sasuke had even asked Sasuke why he doesn’t return to the village once in awhile and why he doesn’t visit his wife and daughter. I’m not sure how much Nick has seen of Boruto, but he DID make clones to train and play with Boruto and to make a clone to make Himawari a cake. Sure, he couldn’t be there in person for them, but the Hokage Office holds dangerous information, so leaving a clone that goes ‘poof’ and doesn’t have the Kurama Chakra or Uzumaki Life Force, then invaders who get lucky in defeating a clone, would easily steal the secrets, and clones vanish if the conscience of the caster is lost. So simply falling asleep or passing out would put the office in danger because a Clone can’t wake up if there’s intruders, it’s gone.
Naruto isn't the best father in the world but he doesn't deserve this list. I mean, the dude didn't have one growing up, his first male role model was murdered by his student (Orochimaru), his father figure was murdered by his student (Nagato), and when he meets his real dad, he shows that he has a bit of resentment. I don't like Boruto's character just for the fact that he seems petty. Boruto has almost anything a person can ask for, everything Naruto was begging for, growing up and the conflict that drives his character is that his dad doesn't spend time with him. We go from a main character that was hated by the past generation, shunned by his generation, was an orphan as well as a pariah, poor, was a terrible ninja ( in terms of a ninja, not a fighter), and had no self-esteem, to his son who is royalty, rich, a genius, sociable, popular, has a BIG family, and could want for nothing. I'm reminded of the scene in my hero academia where Izuku yells at todoroki for him wanting to be hero, regardless if his motivation is trivial compared to his. At least he acknowledges this and moves forward. Boruto is going through life not realizing how easy he has it
Kisa Newell-Nickel Yes, because Naruto didn't deploy around 8 clones in the Shinobi War that fought against multiple reanimated ninja, and they were active for much longer time, and were still pretty strong, which means if he had let a clone be in the office while he was at home RESTING with his family and celebrating his daughter's birthday, the clone still could've defended the Hokage Office. Also, Shikamaru and other Jonin are protecting the Hokage's Office, meaning that there's no reason for the original Naruto to be in the office.
Judge Vinsmoke, from One Piece. He forced all 5 of his kids to be genetically engineered against his wife's will, and she even poisoned herself to sabotage it. One kid turned out normal, she died, he trained the engineered 4 kids to be loyal super-soldiers, and he abused and abandoned the normal 5th kid. Judge even made the kid promise not to tell anyone of his parentage, because he's embarrassed that the kid isn't good enough for him.

Bao Nguyen When burning your prince son's face is one of the nicer things you do to your son, that says something. Oh, you think I'm kidding? Your heart and mind are deeper than your skin, and he scarred them as well by dishonoring his son when he turned down a challenge from him. This set him on a path of attempting to apprehend the Avatar for the Fire Lord, only to question his own standing, then stand against his father, who let his ruthless daughter inheiret the throne. Zuko hated his father so much that instead of letting himself become the sum of his legacy, he did the last thing Ozai would ever do; establish peace between his nation and the others. Sometimes the worst fathers are some of the best villains, like the aforementioned Ozai, Ging, old man Lanister, Darth Vader or Thanos.

The first year missing was because he was training to fight the Saiyans. The second year was him training to get instant transmission. I can’t defend the training for IT.

And l read the manga so as to avoid countless filler arcs that lead to no where. All I'm saying is we didn't see countries beyond the 5 nations borders. For example, we haven't seen the African equivalent in the Naruto world (and don't say the land of lightning because of their dark skin) or a country that's the North Korea equivalent in the Naruto world.

Not sure why people are assuming that out of all of fiction That Goku would be on the list if not first. The first 5 years Goku was around for Gohan and even respected Chi Chi's wishes for him not to follow in his foots step except when they really needed him to. With the exception for Peter, there are so much worse dads on this list than any either Homer of Gendo. Hell, Homer hasn't been strangling Bart as much he use to. Usually Homer is a bad dad for the sake of the plot for the episode where in other episodes he is shown to be a great dad.

Have you seen Sabato Rokudo from Kyoukai no Rinne? He didn't bother being at his son's side just to seduce and spend time with ladies, told him his mother is dead in a loud voice, and even stole his son's allowance and burdened him under mountains of debts by making him his co-signer without asking his permission, causing him to live in poverty in an abandoned club building at school.

That's because he at least cared about one of his kids and actually respected Zuko. Everybody else on this list are just awfully horrible compared to him

What about Gendo? He wiped out the human race just to be with his wife again (as a fused being) he abandoned his son Shinji, then cloned his dead wife into a little girl raising her instead of his son. Then when the kaiju named angels starts appearing again after 15 years he calls his now mentally unstable son for so to trick and pressure him to fight the monsters in a cyborg mech (which by the way is fused with his mothers soul).
Okay, In Naruto's defense. They make it apparent that he feels bad about it and that he regrets not being able to spend more time with his family. Plus they make it clear that the entire village is his family and that he goes out of his way to still make time for Hinata,Boruto, and Himiwari. Plus he tried the clone thing, It ended badly. Now if we wanna talk bad dads from that show. Sasuke hasn't even been around for Sarada for like 90% of her life! In fact when they first met up in the anime he didn't even recognize her and tried to attack/KILL HER! Pretty sure that puts you on the bad dad list.

But the "worst father ever" crown for the Naruto/Boruto franchise belongs to a character from the latter : BIG SPOILER below
Said character is Kawaki's father, unlike Raasa (Gaara's father if I'm not mistakening his name) Hìashi and Fugaku, he NEVER found or sought any kind of value in his offspring, he just kept to beat his son FOR THE ENTIRETY of his life, until the new big bad literally bought Kawaki from him for a lot of money.

I don't think Naruto deserves to be on the list, not when you have Sasuke roaming around the world while his daughter and wife are at home chilling. Not to mention the first time he sees her, he threatens her. And he wasn't even there for the birth, Karin was there cause both Sakura and her were trying to find Sasuke. Naruto, at least, has the excuse that he is Hokage and views everyone in the village as family (like the First & Third did), so he cannot give Boruto and Himawari the attention they want. yes, Sasuke was on a big mission, but it wasn't as if he didn't have down time at some point. I'm just waiting for a storyline where they find out Sasuke had a illegitimate child somewhere.
Sasuke is not roaming around having fun he's on a too secret mission so he can protect his home and family from literal gods. Him being a bad dad would be him chilling with his family ignoring the threat

Okay, if that's true, show me the scene that confirms that. And even so, again, the first time he sees her, he doesn't recognize her, and threatens her with his sword. He wasn't even there for her birth. Now he's around, when he can be, and you could argue Naruto as ample time to spend since he's in the village and is an expert on Shadow Clones, but he's Hokage, and prior to becoming Hokage, he was there, as seen at the end of The Last. Sasuke, with his Space-Time Ninjutsu and his Hawk and Snake Summons, could also be more involved in Sarada's life. As far this list is concern, most of the blame can be put on Boruto in regards to the Boruto-Naruto relationship, and on Sasuke on the Sarada-Sasuke relationship.
But if we really have to pick a dad from the Naruto series...what about the Fourth Kazekage? Literally had kids and had them tested to be the next Jinchuriki, tested his son by sending his uncle to attempt to kill him, and, knowing he would die, told said uncle to tell him that he was never loved, and making his son feared throughout the village to be the ultimate weapon for the village. To sum up how bad of a dad he was, the first time he sees Gaara when he is reanimated, he's more surprised that he had friends than the fact that Gaara became Kazekage...Second Mizukage sums up everyone's thought.

Now that I think about it, Peter Griffin really is the worst fictional father. He's a lazy, casually sadistic, and impulsive jackass that makes Fire Lord Ozai from Avatar: The Last Airbender look like Dad of the Year material.

Hey, come on now. He only neglected his son for a clone of his wife, treats him with nothing but contempt and disdain, and made him have a front row seat to his berserk mecha's autopilot mostly or successfully murdering a friend or love interest. To be fair, it's mostly just neglect and a fear of attachment, and the latter incident largely was a necessarily tactical decision to potentially save the human race from being turned into tang. When you look at it objectively, Gendo didn't do anything anywhere near as malicious as most/all of this list.

But Naruto has sent clones to train Boruto while he works, and he did make a clone to make a cake for Himawari, though he did pass out from exhaustion and the clone vanished dropping the cake, but had it been the real Naruto anyways, him passing out would’ve still dropped the cake. Boruto has even told Sasuke he would prefer him as a Father, and Sasuke didn’t even return to the village or see his Daughter until Naruto brought Sarada to Him. Sarada has told Boruto she would prefer Naruto as a Father because he’s an amazing man and that it’s a shame Boruto doesn’t understand that. Then when Sasuke returns, he tries to be a dad, but ends up remaining a bit distant still. Naruto when he was the only one with contact with Sasuke had even asked Sasuke why he doesn’t return to the village once in awhile and why he doesn’t visit his wife and daughter. I’m not sure how much Nick has seen of Boruto, but he DID make clones to train and play with Boruto and to make a clone to make Himawari a cake. Sure, he couldn’t be there in person for them, but the Hokage Office holds dangerous information, so leaving a clone that goes ‘poof’ and doesn’t have the Kurama Chakra or Uzumaki Life Force, then invaders who get lucky in defeating a clone, would easily steal the secrets, and clones vanish if the conscience of the caster is lost. So simply falling asleep or passing out would put the office in danger because a Clone can’t wake up if there’s intruders, it’s gone.

Naruto isn't the best father in the world but he doesn't deserve this list. I mean, the dude didn't have one growing up, his first male role model was murdered by his student (Orochimaru), his father figure was murdered by his student (Nagato), and when he meets his real dad, he shows that he has a bit of resentment.
I don't like Boruto's character just for the fact that he seems petty. Boruto has almost anything a person can ask for, everything Naruto was begging for, growing up and the conflict that drives his character is that his dad doesn't spend time with him. We go from a main character that was hated by the past generation, shunned by his generation, was an orphan as well as a pariah, poor, was a terrible ninja ( in terms of a ninja, not a fighter), and had no self-esteem, to his son who is royalty, rich, a genius, sociable, popular, has a BIG family, and could want for nothing.
I'm reminded of the scene in my hero academia where Izuku yells at todoroki for him wanting to be hero, regardless if his motivation is trivial compared to his. At least he acknowledges this and moves forward. Boruto is going through life not realizing how easy he has it
Kisa Newell-Nickel Yes, because Naruto didn't deploy around 8 clones in the Shinobi War that fought against multiple reanimated ninja, and they were active for much longer time, and were still pretty strong, which means if he had let a clone be in the office while he was at home RESTING with his family and celebrating his daughter's birthday, the clone still could've defended the Hokage Office. Also, Shikamaru and other Jonin are protecting the Hokage's Office, meaning that there's no reason for the original Naruto to be in the office.
Judge Vinsmoke, from One Piece. He forced all 5 of his kids to be genetically engineered against his wife's will, and she even poisoned herself to sabotage it. One kid turned out normal, she died, he trained the engineered 4 kids to be loyal super-soldiers, and he abused and abandoned the normal 5th kid. Judge even made the kid promise not to tell anyone of his parentage, because he's embarrassed that the kid isn't good enough for him.

Bao Nguyen When burning your prince son's face is one of the nicer things you do to your son, that says something. Oh, you think I'm kidding? Your heart and mind are deeper than your skin, and he scarred them as well by dishonoring his son when he turned down a challenge from him. This set him on a path of attempting to apprehend the Avatar for the Fire Lord, only to question his own standing, then stand against his father, who let his ruthless daughter inheiret the throne. Zuko hated his father so much that instead of letting himself become the sum of his legacy, he did the last thing Ozai would ever do; establish peace between his nation and the others. Sometimes the worst fathers are some of the best villains, like the aforementioned Ozai, Ging, old man Lanister, Darth Vader or Thanos.
Still not as bad as what Rellius did to his children Carl and Ada in Blazblue.

You need to watch every single episode and the 1st two episodes of boruto. The world has changed because of the peace brought by Naurto, meaning no wars. Thus the ninja world is different but there are still bandits that needs to be taken care of. Kakashi is the one for inherited and Naruto is the one who created peace while Sasuke runs around the world to keep it by killing zetsu. Just rewatch everything, you'll asking about stuff already explained.
silverquis Sorry but Naruto didn't create peace. Eveyone came together because of Obito declaring war and after a war there's a period of peace because countries have lost resources and lives. And l read the manga so as to avoid countless filler arcs that lead to no where. All I'm saying is we didn't see countries beyond the 5 nations borders. For example, we haven't seen the African equivalent in the Naruto world (and don't say the land of lightning because of their dark skin) or a country that's the North Korea equivalent in the Naruto world.

I don't need to explain you why this belief is wrong; Naruto is a realistic father, because he has problems to balance job and family and deeply regrets his big mistakes (but he at last manages to improve) and this makes him a good father.

Everyone is milking how Goku is a horrible father but he isn't. He doesn't know the basics and fundamentals of parenthood and him being dead when Gohan needed him the most isn't his fault he did those sacrifices for the greater good. He's not exactly a good father but he isn't terrible all things considered to be fair he never had any form of interaction with his father or mother Gohan *(his "grandfather")* took him under his wing and treated him as his own child making Goku believe that he was family ever since he accidentally murdered him in his Great Ape form he had to live on his own with no social skills or education until Bulma came along.
I'd like to nominate *Relius Clover from the BlazBlue series* :
- Turned his wife Ignis into a mindless mecanical puppet.
- Turned his daughter Ada into a mindless mecanical puppet.
- Keeps chasing his son Carl (another playable character) to join him to work for the Imperator.
- Has probably turned more victims into weird failed experiments.
- Has apparently "shattered" Carl's psyche, as he somehow turns like his father, by the end of Central Fiction.
Not mention that after destroying Carl's mind, he then just literally leaves him and Ada to die with the rest of the world.
Watabe from Psychic Academy. Performed experiments that mindraped his own child into having amnesia, only ever saw said daughter as a research specimen, pushed her into causing the lab accident that killed her mother that he would blame solely on her and created her trauma of rain, and never even gave her a name. The one she goes by is just her code.

With the exception for Peter, there are so much worse dads on this list than any either Homer of Gendo. Hell, Homer hasn't been strangling Bart as much he use to. Usually Homer is a bad dad for the sake of the plot for the episode where in other episodes he is shown to be a great dad.

@Comrade Necron there is the detail that Gendo wasn't actually trying to save the world. He just wanted to find some way to reunite with his dead wife (who their son actually saw die IN one of the aforesaid damn robots, and ptsd-ed into forgetting about it), and pretty much abandons/ignores Shinji whenever it isn't Get In The Robot Time. At which point it's also Blackmail Time if Shinji doesn't jump to the task.
And despite his actual goal of getting back his wife, he still has affairs with two generations of Akagi scientists just so he can get their loyalty because they inexplicably have crushes on him.
