The Silurians are a returning species from classic Doctor Who. They actually first appeared in Jon Pertwee (third Doctor's) second story aptly titled "Doctor Who and the Silurians" which aired as part if Season 7 in 1970. They are redesigned and updated here with their differences being easily explained by the fact that they have different forms/races in even the classic series which also featured their aquatic cousins who are often known as the "Sea Devils" who also met the third Doctor in Season 9. Later both forms together encountered Peter Davison (the fifth Doctor) at the beginning of his final Season/ Season 21 from 1984 which was the last time they had appeared before this.
That is so interesting, I appreciate the information! Are their other forms/races based on the elements? I think it’s good the writers still use species etc from classic who😊
@@ReactandRamble No worries. They aren't element based, they're just all reptilian which can sometimes be aquatic. They all went underground into self induced hibernation in prehistoric times because of expected atmospheric upheaval. Some went under the earth, some went under the sea (🎶). Yes it's always fun to bring back the most iconic villains, monsters and species from the Classic series! There are even still more now I and other fans would still love to see return one day.
This two parter is definitely an old school doctor who, quite similar to a classic ep with the same”monster”. It has a slower pacing and a focus side characters like classic who. As far as Amy’s Choice….definitely the key episode of this season.
I won't give any spoilers about the next episode but I will say that I've never put together the significance of her leaving the ring behind before. Brilliant bread crumbs.
I'm really enjoying these reactions. I know what you mean about this episode being a bit slow at times - it is very much setup, and the more interesting stuff happens in part 2. Very intrigued to see your reaction to that.
Just on the subject of the Doctor being a good fit for a parent he was a parent once as the First Doctor's original companion was his granddaughter Susan the Tenth Doctor mentioned to Rose and Donna previously that he's been a father before so the Doctor is no stranger to kids. The lizard reptilians are called the Silurians they are a species from Classic Who and originally owned the earth before the humans the Doctor first met them before in his third and fifth incarnation of course they had a make up change they look humanoid in this but in the original series they were more alien looking with the three eyes I mean props to the make up department for doing a great job on the lizard faces but I much prefer the original which I feel science fiction today doesn't do enough creativity of aliens everything's got to look humanoid.
I had no idea! I really like how there is still a continuation from classic Who. I agree, much prefer when the aliens have more of an alien look. Thanks for the info!
There's a moment in this episode that has always stuck out to me. When Alaya asks him what he would sacrifice for his cause (peace), rather than retort all he gives her is a glance down and a sad smile
These lizards type of characters are actually from Classic Doctor Who! I didn't knew that back then when I first watched... I think my favorite moment from this episode is probably the little moment between the Doctor and the kid. Also, I do agree, I think they look way cooler with the mask on. I also don't think this episode was the greatest thing in the world, it was fine, but nothing too amazing and, to be fair, when the last episode you've seen is the one with the Dream Lord, it's hard to match that level anyway. I had a lot of fun with your reaction and I'll be waiting for the next one.
Ooh interesting! Do they still look the same? That was a sweet moment the Doctor had with the child. Yeah, I think my expectations were so high from the last episode! Thanks for watching💖
@@ReactandRamble well, their design was renewed, I guess. They looked uglier in the classic, haha. The Doctor is always great with kids and that's very sweet to see on screen. Don't you worry, you are not alone (get it? I said that because of the Master and Yana and stuff) in this. Thank you for always responding, you never really have to, but I always appreciate that you take your time to do so. You are absolutely lovely.

Ok that’s good to know that it’s similar to classic who! Amy’s choice has to be one of my favourite episodes.
It's so much fun watching your reactions to new who, Amy, Rory, and the Doctor are excellent Tardis gang
I’m glad you’re enjoying my reactions!😄as Tardis crews go, they are one of my favourites💖

Ok so it is important!😄

Aw thank you💖Well now I’m looking forward to the second part!

He doesn't understand, they were on the hill.
They have been down there for 66 million years.
It was nice of future Amy and Rory to be social distancing in 2020
