This is my favourite Doctor who Christmas special and is yet to be topped by any other. The story of Dickens “A Christmas Carol.” embodies the spirit of Christmas and this one really pulls on my heart strings because it puts an amazing Doctor who twist on it. The part which always makes me really emotional, Is the part where Kazran realises she only has one day left and he can’t bare to lose her. It’s such a perfectly human response. To cling to something/someone so dearly because you can’t bare the thought of losing them. I also love that Abigail and Kazrans romance was an accidental consequence of the Doctors meddling in his life. I honestly tear up all the time with the ending because, how would you choose to spend the day with your other half, knowing it was your last together. I couldn’t bare the thought of losing my gf because she’s my world and I love her with all my hearts 💕. A 10/10 story for me. xx
I agree, it was a beautiful Christmas episode. I really loved the love story with Kazran and Abigail and of course it would be the Doctor that caused it🤣 Yeah it was very emotional, I couldn’t imagine making that choice. That’s so sweet! Excellent story😄💖
@@ReactandRamble aww thank you so much for replying to me 😁. I always love watching your reactions because they are very sweet and cute ahah. You can tell that you are enjoying it and even when you watch an episode that confused you, you don’t let it bother you that much. Also lots of love from a fellow Scot 🏴. You are amazing. I hope you are doing well Keep calm and carry on Living the geek life 😎🤓…xx
That bit with the Psychic Paper is probably my favourite part! "A mature and responsible adult" "It's just a lot of wavy lines" "It's shorted out. Finally, a lie too big" 🤣 And I think you cried at the same bits that I did 😭
Ahh, it's my favourite Christmas Special - and one that I watch without fail every year in the run-up to Christmas. Never fails to get me feeling festive. It's got everything you want from a Christmas Special, really - humour ("finally, a lie too big") and lots of heart. The end of S5 and start of S6 was Moffat firing on all cylinders, and I'm looking forward to your S6 reactions.
I thoroughly enjoyed your review, and couldn't agree more with the points you made. Easily the best Christmas Special, and one of my favourite NuWho stories in its own right. Imaginative writing, great direction and cinematography, and excellent performances from the whole cast.
"Halfway out of the dark" has stuck with me since seeing this, kinda changed (or maybe "crystalised" is a better word) how I see Christmas. And this episode might be another example of Moffat remembering his Burns: "O wad some power the giftie gie us, To see oorsels as ithers see us" (in "The Beast Below" Amy saves the day by seeing 11 as he can't - from the outside, as others see him. And here 11 saves the day by showing Kazran himself from that same perspective)
I do really like this way of describing Christmas. Excellent Rabbie Burns quote! I never noticed that connection, but I like that the writers have continued on with that theme. Thanks for the comment!😄
Shades of a Christmas pantomime Peter Pan too, with the Doctor at the window, and the crocodile (I mean, shark) with the ticking clock (the sonic sonar) in it's belly. I rewatch this one every year to get in the holiday spirit, in fact it's my favourite version of that old Dickens humbug more than any other. Watched two reactions to it recently including this one - hope you lot haven't spoiled it for me now we're so close to the dark. And get that dog off the bed it's got fleas. Bah!
Oh, I didn’t even notice that!😄 I love a panto reference😊I understand why you watch it every Christmas, it’s such an interesting twist on a classic. Ha! Humbug🤣
This is the best Christmas episode by far. We're at the peak of Doctor Who now it doesn't get better than this. I loved seeing you get emotional, this is a real tearjerker for me every time. And your dog is so gorgeous! 😘
I 100% agree, I’m hoping season 6 is just as good😄 I think it was the montage moments along with the great acting from Michael Gambon with Katherine Jenkins that got me! She really is, thank you😄💖
this is one if not my favorite Doctor Who Christmas Special and have one of my favorite exchanges in all the series: The Doctor : "Who's she?" Kazran Sardick : "Nobody important." The Doctor : "Nobody important? Blimey, that's amazing. You know that in nine hundred years of time and space and I've never met anybody who wasn't important before."
THANKS for this, @ReactandRamble !!!!! Yes, it's a very touching story. A reworking for those who love the #GhostofChristmasPast part of #AChristmasCarol best (I'm one of those people :)). #DoctorWho #DoctorWhoAChristmasCarol #AChristmasCarol #Dumbledore #MichaelGambon #MattSmith #TheEleventhDoctor #KarenGillan #AmyPond #ArthurDarvill #RoryWilliams
I watch this every year on winter solstice with my family to celebrate being halfway out of the dark. My favourite bit of the episode, and indeed one of my all-time favourite Doctor lines didnt make the cut : " Nobody important? Blimey, that's amazing. Nine hundred years of time and space and I've never met anybody who wasn't important before." The look 11 gives Kazran in that moment absolutely defines the Doctor for me
Aw that’s lovely💖 I really should have included that moment in the edit because it was a brilliant, sweet line and I agree it defines who the Doctor is.
After thinking about it only the 2015 Christmas special is better and its not because its at Christmas, its the missing piece of a story Arc #spoilers... Therefore this is the best Christmas themed Christmas special
This is one of those that divides fans, you either love it or really not. I can't understand how anyone doesn't love it. One of the most emotional episodes of DW ever.
To this day this is still my favorite Christmas special. Can you believe this was Katherine Jenkins first acting role? She is wonderful in the role of Abigail.
This is so well acted. Centered around the Michael Gambon and Katherine Jenkins Characters love but fear of death. With Matt Smith's Fairy Godfather Doctor saving them. All the while saving everyone else. Not my favourite. That is to come.
Original broadcast date: 25 Dec 2010 Sherlock S01E01 broadcast date: 25 July 2010 Moffat was deep in his Sherlock BS. There are a lot of similarities between Sherlock and The Doctor in the Moffat era (heavily recommend the HBomberguy Sherlock video, if you haven't seen it, ofc)

I agree, already invested in season 6 after the first 10 minutes of episode 1🤣
I thoroughly enjoyed your review, and couldn't agree more with the points you made. Easily the best Christmas Special, and one of my favourite NuWho stories in its own right. Imaginative writing, great direction and cinematography, and excellent performances from the whole cast.
Thank you so much! It’s an excellent take on a classic😄I would say it’s my favourite Christmas special too and I agree with everything you said💖😊

Scrooge in space. R.I.P. Michael Gambon 😢.
Another one of those actors I thought would had made a great Doctor.
Aww, he really would have!🥹

Great reaction from another special,. Yes a tear jerker, a good Xmas episode,
Thanks for watching, it was a great episode!😄
I just love your reactions. Never apologize for not saying a lot, the emotions you show us say so much. Sending love from across the pond ❤
Thank you💖 I get self-conscious about that so your comment is appreciated! Sending love right back at ya❤️
Love your reactions, :D you really get invested in the show. Also best accent 😊
Thank you! Yeah, I get a little too invested🤣 ah, that’s so nice of you😄

This is not my most favorite DW Christmas special, but it's definitely the most Christmas-y
This is one of those that divides fans, you either love it or really not. I can't understand how anyone doesn't love it. One of the most emotional episodes of DW ever.
I’m with you on that, how can people hate this episode?!
@@ReactandRamble Seriously. I mean everything else aside Michael Gambon alone is worth the price of admission.
Puppy may be a Wee Drama Queen, but she is an adorable Wee Drama Queen
Oh she’s the best!💖
To this day this is still my favorite Christmas special. Can you believe this was Katherine Jenkins first acting role? She is wonderful in the role of Abigail.
She was brilliant! I really was surprised by her performance😄
This used to be my favourite Christmas special, it’s now my 2nd favourite 😮
I'm guessing it's a sweeter one.
So I’m very intrigued about what tops this Christmas special now, there have been a couple of comments like this!😄
Another great reaction. Love this episode.
(Your dog's so cute btw)
Thank you! I loved it too😄 thanks, she really is a little teddy bear🤣💖
That Muppet's alive!
I always think of this one as a Series 5 episode rather than Series 6. The best Christmas Special by a mile.
I tend to think of it as season 5 too🤣 so far I agree!
I had to buy the soundtrack for that Abigail's Song.
Oh and yeah I do still tear up....every time :)
It’s so beautiful, and of course Katherine Jenkins singing is amazing.
Well I’m glad I’m not the only one to tear up!
This is probably one of my favorite doctors, Christmas specials, but not my favorite. We'll get to that later and I'll gush about it then
I loved it! Well, I can’t wait to see what Christmas episode is better than this😄

I believe this is actually 5x14, or S05E14.
I actually agree, I just saw other reactors had it as 6x0 so I went with the majority🤣
