Think back to the first episode. Little Amy gives the Doctor an apple in her bedroom. She says "Mum carves faces on them so I'll like them." The apple was fresh. Amy lost her mother that night, did not remember, but knew something was wrong and asked Santa for help. It broke my heart when I realized.

Hi lovely reaction, yes in the angels episode I always thought it was a continuity error when he was speak to eyes shut Amy as he was wearing his jacket again after the angels had grabbed it off him , but of course it was future doctor returned to tell Amy to remember him. Brilliant writing

When the Tardiis was destroyed, we were told it was on the 26th of June 2010. It was also the date of the wedding.

At 8:37 you were asking why didn’t the doctor just use the cards that young amy gave to him. Well heres a “simple” explanation:
A bootstrap paradox- A object or idea that has no start or end point in time.
    Example:
If your future self gave you a piece of paper with the time travel formula and then in the future; you would go back in time and give yourself the SAME paper, it would be impossible.
You might wonder: Where would the paper have come from? The answer is, there is none. Its impossible, And to add on to that if it was the same paper that keeps going back in time infinity, eventually it would degrade into nothing, making it impossible for your past self to even invent time travel in the first place.
So that why the doctor didn’t take the same cards and decided to create those cards himself, making the cards have a starting point in time so it doesn’t cause a bootstrap paradox.
Thats all, Thanks for Coming to my Ted Talk (I love Steven Moffat’s era because the fact he uses a tv show thats about time travel to the fullest effect)

    • @ReactandRamble

Obviously in Vincent we explored Amy's subtle pain and loss with the crack taking away Rory, but now we realise she's been struggling with that the entire time and the clues were all there. When asked about her mum and dad she had to think about it, the house is quite big for a little girl and her aunt and the apples that her mum carved faces in were fresh, likely even meaning the reason she was praying scared was because it had just swollowed her parents up and she couldn't even work out why. And that's why she was scared of he own life and so attached to her imaginary friend, as with all kids it was helping her through the hurts of her life.
Also as for the police not still searching for little Amelia in the museum is likely because they stopped existing.
This finale is my favourite and really up my alley. I really love out right crazy and complicated Sci Fi that at it's core has very simple and human heart. It might not be everyone's cup of tea, but it's def mine.
As for Matt, childlike old soul is definitely right. He's like if that kind of granddad who in their old age has grown into a childlike joy actually getting to go back into a young man's body. It's actually very polar opposite of William Hartnell who was like a child playing at being a grown up whilst Matt is like an old man playing at being young and I love both.

    • @ReactandRamble
      @ReactandRamble  2 місяці тому +1

It adds so many layers to Amy’s character. Brilliant analysis, you have given some really interesting points, especially regarding why she was so attached to the Doctor!

So thrilled to see your reaction!
Seems the Vincent episode had a lasting impact if I look at your background ;)
I really love the scene in which the Doctor tells sleeping Amy his story to plant himself inside her mind to be remembered at her wedding. Not only is the whole scene very clever with a brilliant resolution at the wedding, but it also shows how amazing an actor Matt Smith is, because in that scene he really sells the almost 900 year old, tired traveller which stands in stark contrast to his usual child like energy and enthusiasm.
Rory and Amy are so awesome, they are amongst my favorite companions of New Who, sharing the top spot with another one that comes later. :)

This episode has a heck of a lot of wibbly wobbly timey wimey and I love it!
River showing how awesome she is with that Dalek, haha. The moment between the Doctor and Amy waaaay back in the Angels episode has a whole new meaning now... That was very interesting and unexpected, but brilliant. Also, that beautiful scene about the Doctor talking about how we are stories... That made me think a little about how important stories are. I think I mentioned in a comment before how significant they are and what the Doctor says about we being stories in the end is something so true and powerful. The way you called how the Doctor just sent "geronimo", tho 😂😂
Aaaaaaannnndddddd you gotta love the crazy "drunken giraffe" dance! I believe that was an improv from Matt Smith who got the script saying that "the Doctor is a terrible dancer".
Loved the reaction, you are incredibly fun to watch! I'm very excited for everything that you have yet to see and I'll for sure be here for that!
EDIT: Somehow I forgot to mention this, but Rory is literally the best!

I mean how could he not say it🤣the giraffe dancing was interesting, I don’t think I would have been any better🤣 Thank you, I’m happy you enjoy watching my rambling! It’s nice when reading the comments I feel like I watched it with all of ya😄

There are two awesome parts of this episode, obviously the speeches like the something old, new borrowed blue. This season, finale episodes I enjoyed for different reasons. Part 1 was epic in scope and had that lovely cliffhanger at the end, but part 2 is more enjoyable because of how everything is (almost) wrapped up. And we got a genuinely creepy Dalek appearance, remember we ranked about this earlier in the series. How the standard Who villains shine better in episodes where they aren't the main threat during this era? Here's an example

    • @ReactandRamble
      @ReactandRamble  3 місяці тому +1

I feel the same way about part 1 and 2😄 I think some of the classic villains can shine on their own like the Master, but it is definitely more interesting when there is a bigger threat that they build up to😄

    • @nedzed3663
      @nedzed3663 3 місяці тому

@ReactandRamble Speaking of the Master, I was never a fan of that character, even the RTD era version, though he had his moments. It didn't help that a sort of better version of the Master was done on Torchwood with Capt John Heart, who was every bit a "Master" type character with Jack. But I agree the Master and other huge antagonists like him are usually best left to ham it up for the camera as the main threat, Lol

I think the lack of an argument about the Pandorica is two-fold:
From a meta, writing aense it would risk being a bit predictable given they have done that both tines previously.
And from a story sense, the doctor was dying from the dalek shot ao he needed the restoration field the same way Amy did at the end of the last episode so River knows it is bettpif he goes and she works to bring him back.

I’ve watched DW since the first episode in 1963 and rewatched all the Doctors a lot. I too didn’t want 10 to go, I adored Two, and who doesn’t love Four, (Six - controversial I know but I liked him) but now my favourite Doctors have all been surpassed by Eleven. Good writing isn’t always obvious until you reread (watch) it, and Moffat writing takes a bit of work sometimes, maybe too much for those who watched as kids and never revisited. Moffat provided a perfect vehicle for Matt Smith to be sublime. I love RTD as a writer but his original DW era without the “rose-tinted” spectacles upon rewatch occasionally feels a bit two dimensional to me. For fun I’ve watched the RTD era without the Moffat episodes, which gives a different complexion, and also watched the River Song story in the correct order for her which adds a whole new dimension; sad perhaps, but then I’ve had a long time to think about it. 😊

When I was a little kid I had an imaginary friend called Uncle Nobody. As I grew up I took the memory of Uncle Nobody and put it away on a shelf in the back of my mind.
Then when I was 13 or 14 I was in the kitchen with my mother and grandmother when my mother said something that caused my grandmother drag something up out of her own past.
My mother was an only child, but even so, she always felt she was meant to have a brother.
My grandmother said before she was pregnant with my mother, she'd been pregnant before, with a little boy. Sadly, the baby was still born. My grandmother said something that caused a chill to run down my spine. "We were expecting a baby but nobody came."
I'm not sure what the law is elsewhere, but in the US a baby is not considered alive until it takes its first breath outside the womb. If that never happens, the baby doesn't get a birth certificate, nor even a name. They are disposed of in the way the hospital disposes off all of its biological tissues, extracted organs, tumors, amputated limbs.. It is all incinerated in a huge furnace.
What if my still born uncle knew somehow my grandmother was thinking "...nobody came." and the ghost of the still born baby took it as "...Nobody came."
That boy, had he lived would have been my uncle, and "Nobody" was the only name he ever got.

It is kinda weird how much Amy wants to kiss the doctor but it is totally in character for her. If you don’t remember, she was a “kiss-o-gram” when the doctor came back for her in the eleventh hour. She’d dress up and go kiss people at parties. And when she introduced Rory to the doctor she said he was her friend and when he corrected her she said “kind of… boyfriend”.

The Christmas episode reminded me she was a “kiss-o-gram”! I see what you mean and I’m just taking it as it’s a bit of a joke now too😊

I'll be a story in your head.
    But that's ok.
We're all stories in the end.
But make it a good one, eh?
    'Cause it was, you know?
    It was the best.

The only thing missing from this wedding was a cèilidh, I really wanted to see the Doctor do Strip the WIllow or the Gay Gordons lol.
In terms of the show itself, it's a clever plot device of Steve Moffat to do a reboot of the universe. It must be difficult to write creative stories set on earth after the events of Canary Wharf, the Stolen Earth, and all these other invasions. He's given himself a clean slate to work with.
I think Amy's flirtiness with the Doctor isn't romantic or lustiness, but more just playful banter at this point. If the Doctor ever accepted her advances I think she'd actually freak out, because she doesn't really want to go there (I do think she did want to the first time, but not at this point).

The Doctor would have loved that! I’m surprised we didn’t see the typical Scottish ending to a party, a circle like mosh pit to ‘Loch Lomond’🤣
Ooh that is very clever to give himself a clean slate.
I actually agree, it just seems random at times! I now believe she is 100% committed to Rory (after all Rory has done, how could she not be?!)😄

I am old enough to remember watching the first ever episode in 1963.
Tom Baker was my favourite doctor in the classic era.
The Matt Smith run in my opinion had some of the best story arcs.
    Amy Pond best companion.

In every incantation of Amelia Pond growing up, she knows a truth and is told she is wrong and will not stop believing in her truth.
Amelia Pond is a Warrior Princess, Amelia Pond is extraordinary...... the "Stuff of Legends" always deserved "The Last Centurion"
