I really really love the exploration of the Doctor's self loathing in this episode, particularly as someone who's struggled with it for a long time I think this really just hits something. Also love some of that mental health humour sprinkled in. Honestly I just love this episode.
Me too, it was interesting to see that side of him. Personally, I feel like it’s a challenging thing to overcome. I hope you can now see your worth or are beginning to and the things that make you special💖 It’s great that they put in some levity to give a good balance. Agreed! Thanks for watching, I really appreciate your comment x
We all struggle with that, i like you have similar issues. I like to think it has always been a thing. Comments like "we are our own worst enemy" or "we are our own biggest critic" have a much deeper psychological meaning. We have to accept who we are, good and bad. Nobody knows you better than you do yourself, which a lot of the time can be dark and depressing. The contrast is the relationship between rory and amy, seeing, even if not always showing it, the best in each other, and seeing how others view us, especially if it's in contrast to how we see ourselves, it helps, and it is important. We aren't always what we fear we are. And even if we are, it's still ok.
I really like this one - as you say, I think it pretty much boxes off the potential love triangle element of it all, which I was definitely in favour of them doing sooner, rather than later. My interpretation of the Dream Lord was that he was mostly a manifestation of the Doctor's darkness (after all, the Doctor has a lot more of it built up than Amy or Rory) but that the psychic pollen probably drew on Rory's insecurities when the Dream Lord was being critical of him, and similarly drawing on Amy's guilt around kissing the Doctor when goading her about that. Toby Jones is a fantastic actor - I think that most of us would be keen to see him pop up more often. I'd highly recommend a TV movie called 'Marvellous' if you've never seen it and you're ever in the mood for something uplifting - Jones plays the main character in that, and knocks it out of the park in a completely different way. I think it's free to watch on Prime. There's another Doctor Who S5 guest star in it, too.
I’m with you on that, really glad it was wrapped up so quickly, hopefully! I wondered that after I filmed my reaction, it does seem like the DreamLord was influenced by Rory and Amy too. Toby Jones is incredible, I will look it up!
There was an episode of Red Dwarf where the characters were to be judged... It turned out that they were to judge themselves... Exploring the idea that we are our own worst critics. I feel that this episode hints at that in the case of the doctor... "There is only one person in the universe who hates me this much!" A great performance from Toby Jones in this episode too... Thanks for all these reactions. D
That sounds like a very interesting episode and I agree with that statement, I’m definitely my own worst critic🤣 I do think this episode gave me a new understanding of the Doctor, I didn’t realise how badly he thought of himself. Toby Jones was excellent!😄 Aww thanks for watching!💖
Amy is almost abit greedy in wanting to have her cake and eat it too. She has defenitely taken Rory for granted for along time and im glad she got abit of a rude awakening. She needed that and Rory deserved that recognition.
This is such a fun episode. At the beginning, I'm 100% convinced that the Upper Leadworth life is obviously the dream, but then I start to doubt to it the more they spend in the Tardis. So clever. Really nice to see Amy and Rory's relationship take a turn for the better.
10:13 I'm dead LMFAOOOOOOO. This episode is awesome, really made me love Amy and Rory's relationship! Since Agents of SHIELD I never really liked any relationship as much as a certain one they had for that show, but Doctor Who decided to try to get into my ranks. The way Amy just got so numb when Rory died really hits you hard. This Dream Lord thing, with the villain basically being the Doctor himself, was soooooooo interesting. I think this is one of the most memorables Doctor Who episodes. Very deep and has some great comedy at the start. The guy saying good morning to the people with eyes on their mounth was so funny, I didn't remember that. Amazing reaction, especially the "run them over bit", honestly. That was so funny.
🙈 I felt the same way! It became more than the Rose and Mickey dynamic. Karen Gillan's acting was brilliant in that scene. I agree, the DreamLord is such a clever idea, hope he appears in the future! Absolutely brilliant episode😄 The whole episode I was hoping they would get run over at some point, not sure why that was in my head😂
@@ReactandRamble Try to not fall in love with Karen Gillian and you will absolutely fail, she's too awesome. Well, that gave me some good laughs so I'm glad you expressed yourself instead of just letting this thought in your head, it was very unexpected to me and just made this video 5 times better.
I won't spoil whether or not you'll see that pool in a future episode, but we had at this point seen a swimming pool in the Tardis in a classic story from the 1970s... unfortunately, it just looked like a swimming pool in some building somewhere!
I personally felt a lot of guilt during my initial viewing of this episode. I really loved everything about it and it dawned on me how quickly I had moved on. I had known for a while, but there is a reason that David Tennant is the 10th Doctor, he was perfect. But there was just something about this Doctor and this TARDIS crew, normally there is a mourning period a need to go through the 5 stages and for David it should have been a loooong long time, but Matt got me, he got me when he realized he was not a girl and "still not ginger"....... They always get the Doctor right.... we can complain about all the stuff we want to, but they always get the Doctor and the Companions right. in my opinion....
I couldn’t watch it after David Tennant until now but watching this team I get how you could fall in love with them so quickly. Matt is brilliant and this tardis team are one of the best💖

Remember this episode. Rory is awesomeness. And Amy does know it, as scared as she is of the commitment and a steady life.
I’m happy this episode showed that😊💖
One of the best one off villains in Who.

Aww thanks for watching!💖
Yeah, I adore this one too - Toby Jones is a fantastic character actor and does an amazing job in this. One of the best
He is a great actor, loved him in Mr Bates vs the post office
I swear, he pretty much always plays a villainous/antagonist character in everything I've seen him in. To be fair, he's very good at that.
The swimming pool in the TARDIS does feature in one of the Classic Who episodes.
No way! That’s brilliant😄
Amy is almost abit greedy in wanting to have her cake and eat it too. She has defenitely taken Rory for granted for along time and im glad she got abit of a rude awakening. She needed that and Rory deserved that recognition.
I feel like she needed that scare too! It's nice to see this positive change in their relationship😊

It was a great episode, a lot of good twists and fun guessing in it! I'm happy Rory and Amy's relationship is good now too.

10:35 always reminds me of Jackie with the 9th Doctor
Ok I can totally see that!🤣
I only just finished watching Doctor Who series 5 for the first time, I enjoyed it myself
I won't spoil whether or not you'll see that pool in a future episode, but we had at this point seen a swimming pool in the Tardis in a classic story from the 1970s... unfortunately, it just looked like a swimming pool in some building somewhere!
Aww no way! shame it just looked like an ordinary swimming pool but it is cool that they have this call-back to it😄
Please keep doing these videos!
When I hear your comments it gets me excited about seeing how you'll react to upcoming events. ☺️
I’m still enjoying the show so will keep going with it! I’m getting the impression I’m going to be majorly shocked!🤣
Thanks for watching💖
Loved our girl going full-on 'Death Race 2000' for the whole 2nd half of the episode. Makes me a little glad she's driving in another country...
I'm counting something, Don't worry about it or inquire, "spoilers".
#1
THANKS for this!!!!!
thanks for watching!
24:00 Or maybe he was using reverse psychology. In disparaging Rory he forced Amy to defend him.
Good point😊
9:40 Well, you got it much sooner than I did.
I LOVE this episode.
10:07 "Barely an inconvenience"
Reminded of Ryan George's Pitch Meetings🤣
I love Pitch Meetings!😄should have used Ryan George gif🤣
