Labhair le do mhadra as Gaeilge. Ordaithe do mhadraí as Gaeilge. Ordaithe do pheataí as Gaeilge.
Go raibh maith agat. Now my dog can ignore me in two languages!
Made me laugh out loud.
I love it!
I spent months researching how to train my dog in irish. It would have been so much easier if i found you back then haha
This could be so helpful in the future. It would be nice to train a dog with commands that most folks wouldn't know, similar to how police dogs in the US are often trained in German or Czech.
Love this! ☘️🇮🇪
Siobhan. I love these short, pointed lessons in the Irish language. I’m an Australian, with Irish on both sides of my bloodline, and to hear you speak, both in English and Irish, gives me a warm feeling in my heart, and a longing to see the places my forebears came from. Thank you, so much, for this gentle introduction to the Irish language. I sent the Halloween and Christmas editions, to my entire family. They really loved it. Go raibh maith agat agus beannacht, Siobhan.🫶🏼💕💖
I've been looking for this for years. Thank you!
Great Idea for a video. I appreciate the way you explain how the written words sometimes change when spoken such as not pronouncing the n in an and how you say the words so clearly. Go raibh míle maith agat.
Would you please be so kind as to make a second video of more dog commands?

I am using your video to train my Donovan Pinscher. Her name is Launch. Thank you for your time and videos
The pictures were perfect. A lovely lesson. Go raibh maith agat 😊
Dia duit Siobhán! One of the best videos ever,I just loved it! I badly needed these phrases in order to give my pet "Gaelic orders " I already use some of them which I learned from one of your excellent videos,eg "Tar an seo" "Gaibh i leith!" etc! Needless to say I'm gonna use the others also with my pet doggie(dog)!
Go raibh míle maith agat agus slán go fóill!
Thanks for your videos on the Irish language. Keep up the great work.
This is brilliant. I never thought of speaking Irish with my dogs At least I can use my Irish a little out loud. Thank you💚💚💚
I was going to ask you to do a video like this! I plan to train my future service dog in Irish, so this is going to come in handy. Hope that you're well and stay safe!
Great vid but some of the commands are too wordy for dog training and one is confusing, i.e. suigh síos is two commands, sit and down. It’s better to have distinct one-word commands whose sounds are not too similar to each other. The ones I’ve used are:
Suigh (Sit);
Luigh _pronounced ‘lig’ or ‘lee’_ (Down);
Suas (Stand);
Anseo (Come);
Gluais [or gluais liom] _pronounced ‘gloo-ish lum’_ (Heel);
Go mall _pronounced ‘guh mall’_ (Slowly);
Go tapaidh _pronounced ‘guh top-ee’_ (Quickly);
Síos (Get down/off, if the dog is jumping up)
Amach _pronounced ‘a-mock’_ (Get out … for a pee and a poo)
Isteach _pronounced ‘is-chok’_ (Get back in … you’ve had a pee and a poo and now you’re just looking for squirrels 🤣)
Fan (Wait/Stay)
Stad (Stop);
Téigh _pronounced ‘tay’_ (Go … if the dog is being sent in a particular direction, e.g. in search and rescue)
Faigh [better with the hard ‘g’ ending] (Find … an object or a person)
Tóg é _pronounced toe-gay_ (Pick it up … the object, not the person🤪)
Ná bach _pronounced ‘naw bawk’_ (Leave …that object/person alone)
Leaba (Go to bed)
Love your videos 💛
maith thú 👌
A clever video ! Thank you very much
Hi, I found out yesterday that I'll be adopting a special pup to train right away! Extra glad for the Irish lesson now! ^_^
LOVE THIS!!! I’ve got many dogs and would love to train them in Gaelic 💚💚💚 thank you!
Thank you!!!
Lovely!
Could you do common greetings please in work or conversation points?
Thank you. Some seemed a bit long, more than one syllable. Have you tried using them in training, and does the dog respond to just the last syllable?
❤️☘️ I grew up in Belfast 😎. I was 16 in 1986. My school was on a North Belfast interface and the victim of a deliberate government policy to hamper interest and support for the national language. As a result... I all these years later shamefully only speak and understand a little of my Mother tongue
And yet here u are learning 💪
The course offered here, and the one on Duolingo, are both free and very helpful. Best of luck!
Nice video. Is there any chance that you could do the same but for horses, e.g. walk on, trot, etc?
I always hear my grandmother in Donegal saying Goitse now I finally know 😂
I love you 💘
Dia dhuit Siobhán! Liked your video a lot! You taught something extremely important! Mhúin tú rud thar a bheith tábhachtach!
Go raibh míle maith agat agus slán go fóill!
An-mhaith GRMA 👍
Hello! I have a completely random question that I can't seem to find a straight answer for. Is there a way to say "lucky" as a stand-alone word?
Shouldn't Munster Irish be pronounced "tar on-suh", sometimes spelt "tar anso"?
I'm not really a cat person, but if I ever did own a cat, I'm definitely naming it Madra.
😁
Iss maith liom e' !
Tar anseo our teacher wud say to mean come in
God, it's so hard :D
Go raibh maith agat! Tá sé seo go díreach le haghaidh cad a d'fhéach mé. Tá dhá sheachtain déag ag mo choileán. Tá mé ag tosú ag traenáil dó. Is tosaitheoir mé, agus níl a fhios agam gach ceann de na focail a úsáidtear le madraí. Go raibh míle maith agat!
@@BitesizeIrish - go raibh maith agat! Táim ag múineadh na bhfocal do mo theaghlach anois. Bhí a fhios agam go bhféadfainn iad a fháil chun Gaeilge a labhairt liom!😂
Cá as tú? Cad a labhraionn tú dialect?
H😅 to get the dogs to come home in gaelic
My dog understood every one of these but, when I tried them on my cat, it just looked at me stupidly and said " Meow Is maith liom uachtar reoite"
Go raibh mile maith agat!
Anyone here after peaky blinders?
Tá fuaimniú álainn agat a Siobhán (nó a Shiobháin - cad é an riall ansin?). Coisreachán Dé ort 🙏🏻 🇮🇪
😂😂 humans
He doesn't listen to commands in English, may as well try Gaelic.
