Go n-éirí an bóthar leat
/Guh ny-ree on boh-har lyat/
May the road rise to meet you
Go raibh an ghaoth go brách ag do chúl
/Guh ruh on ghwee guh brawkh eeg duh khool/
May the wind be always at your back
Go lonraí an ghrian go te ar d’aghaidh
/Guh lun-ree on ghreen guh cheh air dye/
May the sun shine warm upon your face
Go dtite an bháisteach go mín ar do pháirceanna
/Guh ditch-a on wah-shtukh guh meen air duh fawr-ken-na/
May the rains fall softly upon your fields
Agus go mbuailimid le chéile arís,
/A-guss guh mool-ee-midg leh khay-la a-reesh/
And until we meet again
Go gcoinní Dia i mbos A láimhe thú.
/Guh gwin-ye Jee-a ih mus a law-iv-eh hoo/
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Healing tears rolling down my face, I am reclaiming our language for myself and my children, to hear this poem in our language for the first time, wow wow wow, I am deeply grateful for you and your sharing, go raibh míle maith agat Siobhan, may this blessing be many times blessed upon you sweet one and so it is
Love Ciara
I love this. Thank you so much, Siobhán of the long dark hair.
May God Bless You❤ Thank You from Poland. I will use both versions with my fifth grade students in our English lesson and we will perform it at the end of the year. ❤
We have such a beautiful language and we've almost let it slip away. Congrats to Shiobháin and all the others who will revive it! Maith thu go mor.
Thank you, Siobhàn. Helps me keep up with previous Irish classes.
Tá fáilte romhat!
I can remember my grandmother had this blessing on her wall. As a young 8 year old it sounded so comforting and I thought "to have a friend to wish you a blessing like this would be a true friend indeed".
Shame the world has changed.
I learned this whole poem
This blessing was my first encounter with Irish culture. I still keep it somewhere inside a book, several years later. Thank you so much for this video!
I love you’re accent Siobhan 👍👍 I’m Scottish and can just about understand a few of the Irish words from my limited learner Scots Gaelic vocabulary, when they are written and spoken at the same time.
All the best 🙂
Thank you so much, Siobhan! I'm learning so much with your videos. May the blessings of God be upon you, always!
This is so lovely. I hear echoes of some of those words from my childhood, as I do when I listen to you. Thank you Siobhan!
Siobhan, My people are from Donegal and Cavan. Where are you from, yourself? . Your video is excellent! Even listening to you speak English brings me such joy. The fact that the language of our ancestors is still alive and well in Ireland is such a blessing. Slan gu foil. Sìne McKenna
Thank you so much for this!!!! I appreciate this lesson!!!!
I'm learning nothing! I just sit admiring your pretty face. God bless you, Siobhan.
Finally got this one agus go raibh maith agat
You're the best, Siobhan...and pretty.
Heck, you have me reading the Irish and skipping the italicized pronunciation. Thank you.
Thank you for these wonderful videos, they are such a brilliant resource and wonderful for their beautiful cultural content too! I’m absolutely loving them!
Thank you for your video!! God bless
Go raibh mile maith agat!
Go raibh míle maith agat, A Shiobháin. Especially the dialect pronunciation variations.
How lovely! I see two icons behind you on the shelf behind you. I am only guessing, but would it be Saint Brigid and Saint Patrick?
Dia dhuit Siobhán! I am extremely happy to learn this excellent blessing in Irish ! Great video! May God bless you! Físeán Iontach ! Go mbeannaí Dia duit !
Go raibh míle maith agat agus slán go fóill!
Thank you 💚 quality irish love 👍👍
Go raibh míle maith agat a Shiobhán!
I absolutely love how you say your name, a Shiobhán! I know a lot of people query about why you say your name in such a way. If they would study true Irish pronunciation, they would understand-the “bh” combination is broad and therefore should be pronounced a “w” sound. That is how I was taught as well. As I began exploring different dialects beyond my own, I discovered that this holds true except in names and place names where the “bh” combination is a “v” sound. I have only recently started learning about Canúint na Mumhan and how they treat “bh” and “mh” always has “v” sounds. I believe the dialect being taught on a broader scale to be that of Canúint na Mumhan with some influences of Canúint Chonnacht. I don’t really see much of my own being used. Now that I live in the states, I really miss hearing my “tribe” speak, but it’s nice to hear you and Dane at Learn Irish speak as well. Take care of yourselves, Bitesize! Slán go fóill, mo chairde!
This is why I'm subscribed to your channel. Go Raibh Maith Agat
!
This is amazing really helped me 😍
Its so good to hear the old languages! I mean so much was lost along the ages. Seems like in Ireland the old language gets preserved! How old is old Irish probably more then 2000 years or so?!
Thank you Siobhán. Tá do chuid chanúint an deas. Is maith liom go mor é.
I am probably asking for much, but if you ever consider making an alternative version of these lessons, would you mind to use International Phonetic Letters? That would be very helpful.
Yes please
That's amazing! Thanks ever so much for what you put into your content/videos; they're very much appreciated.
Excellent. Well done .
Dia dhuit Siobhán! Nice to have another short but extremely interesting and useful video from you! I really loved this blessing and I'm going to learn it by heart and use it every now and then! What I love the most in your videos is your prononciation! It's very nice!
I thank you for this video! Good job! Gabhaim buíochas leat as an bhfíseán seo! Maith thú!
Go raibh maith agat agus slán anois!
Thanks
👏🏻
Love this video. Happy New Year to you, Look forward to watching more videos in 2021.
Could someone please give me a more literal translation of this as it will help my learning. Thanks in advance!
The translations in the video are quite literal, a chara. If you would like the opportunity to discuss grammar and other aspects of the Irish language in more detail with a fluent tutor on our video calls please check out our memberships at www.bitesize.irish.
@@BitesizeIrish Thank you I will check this out!
That's some legit traditional pronunciation
I WOULD 🍀LOVE 💗 🍀 it if you did a spoken word in English straight thru!!!…
I’ve noticed no Irish accented person on UA-cam and nobody really has done it
Ard'righ, bry'hn ky'el Ayr'en; "except old seers do feign, and wizards with be blind, the scots in place must reign, where this stone shall they find". Auld Lang syne.
Which dialect do you use ? Grma, Deb
Could you please learn me the lyrics A Mhuire Mháthair.
Hello, I was wondering if you could help me out.
I am about to propose to my girlfriend, but I wanted to have a shirt made for our 6 month baby that popped the question for me.
I wanted it to say:
Mommy, will you marry my daddy?
or
Mommy, will you marry daddy?
I pieced the following together and not sure if it's correct or not:
mamaí, an bpósfaidh tú
daidí?
If you could help me with the correct Gaelic translation and maybe how to pronounce it, your help would be greatly appreciated and help with a unique proposal - thanks in advance.
hi
A Shiobhán a Chara. An é an rud céanna "Sábháil ó thinte Ifreann sinn", "Sábháil sinn ó thinte Ifreann", "Sábháil muid ó thinte Ifreann sinn" nó "Sábháil ó thinte Ifreann muid" le rá le do thoil?
A bit complicated to reppeat that one but nice ones 🤗
😅
Go raibh maith agat
Failte, go raibh mile maith agat, Sinead.
Go ráith máith ágát
Lol
May the wind be always at your back. I ride a bicycle (in Santa Cruz California) and I have always loved that saying. "Oro" 🥍 is aoine nua anois. Le do thoil.
