Thank you for another wonderful song from Ry Cooder! You are a huge inspiration for me, I've been playing guitar for about 3 years and I was seriously stuck, guitar became a chore, and I kept playing it for just about 20 mins a day just so I don't lose everything I learned. Then one day, I found your tutorial on Pawnshop blues, and I got blown away by how great it sounded. It was an impulse for me to finally try slide, and open tunings, which was something I always loved but never got courage to try, because I thought that I first needed to get really great at "normal" guitar. Since I started playing with a slide in open tuning, playing finally stopped being a 20-minute a day chore, and became a thing I do to relax, have fun, explore, experiment, and try to mimic the music I was listening for years. So I just wanted to leave a comment here, so you realize that what you are creating does actually affect people in a positive way, for me, it brought light to my days that are otherwise becoming darker and darker as I fight the problems of adult life.
You made my day Jacob, many thanks for taking the time. Really makes it all worthwhile. You mentioned that part of the change happened after switching to open tunings - I know what you mean, there does seem to be a lot of sounds to explore that don’t seem to emerge in standard. Do feel free to drop me a line with song suggestions etc at jeremys_studio@outlook.com - be good to stay in touch! 🙏
Hi Jacob - trying to find a link to a song someone posted in my comments and came across your msg again. Wishing you well as we head towards Christmas - hope the slide is keeping you well my friend. Jeremy
@@JeremyJames_studio Hi Jeremy, I am happy to report that Iife has been good to me, I have reached my long time dream and moved to the Netherlands. I also still love slide guitar, and try to play every day, although that's been quite hard with all the fuzz around moving. I hope you are doing well too, take care!
Superb.sound is spot on . Thank you. Ive been waiting for someone to tab this tune for a long time. Great job. Cant get sound like you get though . Any tips will be much appreciated. 👍
Cheers for that - the TAB is pretty close so you’ll be fine, as far as it goes - there’s a bit more to it as you know but he just moves between the d (open) g (5) a (7) and the bm on the 9th in quite obvious ways. There’s no new intricacies, so to speak! For the sound, after trying different guitars (many) I found round strings easier to play this track. The opening passage is much easier raking down with the thumb and muting the lower three with the fingers. Try that. Also try pulling off sharply on a slight angle to get the open strings sounding between the main movement. The guitar I used actually had flat wound strings but the pickup had the high end detail so I stuck w it. Try and keep it clean, and use a loud amp or compressor for some sustain. Any single coil will do the trick 👌
Outstanding! Big Ry Cooder fan as well. I've got down his playing on John Hiatt's "Memphis In The Meantime," the Blue City track "Not Even In Key West" as well as some of his Prodigal Son recordings. Great stuff! I'm gonna give this a shot. Thank you!
Just been cueing up your song list there - lovely stuff! Also found a cool Cooder track I didn’t know as a result - a song called ‘bus stop’ - great track. I haven’t looked at any of the prodigal son tracks yet, but just yesterday I tabbed out the intro to ‘Guantanamo’ from the previous album (2012 I think it was, the election special)- has to be one of the best guitar sounds I’ve ever heard! Super satisfying to play too. Take care Ronald and thanks for sharing those tracks.
@@JeremyJames_studio "Bus Ride" yes. That is from a movie soundtrack titled "My Blueberry Nights." Cooder has a few tracks on that album. Happy you enjoyed the playlist. If you'd like the TABS for Key West or Memphis I'd be happy to share. Looking forward to learning the TABS for this one here. Much appreciated.
@@ronaldh8446Cheers Ronald. I must admit to never having heard of Blueberry nights or the soundtrack - so thanks. Another viewer shared another track the other day of Buddy Emmons playing ‘morricone’s’ once upon a time in the West live and I literally cannot stop listening to it. I’m in the process of tabbing it out and making a backing track for it at the moment. Not sure how it will turn out but I’m hoping for a decent result! Have a listen here if you don’t know it ua-cam.com/video/vXdPDrCXMdg/v-deo.htmlsi=O7v2qjXLcVzqE5ak

Great Jeremy as usual!
Oooh! Great choice Jeremy!!
Had to be done! Hope you’re doing great my friend.
Amazing as ever
Love it
Thank you so much. I found this one a bit tricky without a backing track but thought it was just about good enough to upload!

@@JeremyJames_studio oh wow that's gorgeous! Morricone is another favorite of mine as well. And thank you for sharing THAT! 👍❤️
Awesome!
Thanks, always liked this track 🙏
i love this channel!
Thank you - kind of you to say so! 🙏
Jeremy can I have the over the rainbow tab?
I’ve emailed you Pete 👍
ua-cam.com/video/CXKQlCQKtIg/v-deo.htmlsi=zUxUWjx_aW5yWToX will pay you to do this pal?
Put this one back on the list Pete 🎉
Is it really a Ry Cooder piece if it’s not in the movie?!
Well I guess so! 😅
Hang on, the song crossroads wasn’t in the movie either! 🤔
@@JeremyJames_studio hahahaha valid!
@@touchtennis🙌
It is in the movie, it' the opening theme and is referenced throughout.
