I havent read it so i dont know the details i just wanted to bring it up because its appeared one other time at the very start of the game. The mysterious attackers that are trying to kill dante and wreck the sinners before vergillius shows up use it too you can see in the CGs.

hex nail is very cool! only taking envy skills can make it easy to use on some teams, and her pierce and envy fragility combines with the fact that multiple nuke skills on the charge team are envy (Rabbit heathcliff's quick suppression is pierce and envy, w don's and w ryoshu's nukes are envy slash). she can serve to make big damage bigger for relatively cheap :D
The downside here being that her only current charge ID is incredibly slow, and Rapid Suppression in particular is meant to go fast, meaning the EGO gets to be useful for that purpose basically never. Hopefully that changes next Thursday.
Aww man, just one more right decision during that erlking fight and it would've been a win. Anyways you were doing great in that fight, a bit of levelups or a slight change in your clashes will probably give you the win. A tip for you, because unlike us you do limbus content in batches rather than all in, try to use your sapling of light ability as often as possible since it recharges once a day. Also, when you retry a story stage or mirror dungeon after you used the sapling of light ability, you will not use it. Only after you use it during battle then you won that battle it will be used. Lastly, when you open the sapling of light ability screen, try to focus your attention on the design of it and also the words written there. You will see some interesting things on there that might rattle your brain.
Vergilius was a well loved but also scorned Poet in real Life. He disliked the church greatly and openly disvowed them yet Dante Allegeri and his namesake in the same Story Dantes Inferno idolized him so much in spite of being a hardcore Catholic that he made him his Guide through Inferno and #@€_+#- in his Story. The Original Italian story really is just dante fan girling over Mathmaticians and Poets of Greek and Roman literature.

There's still more to come, but that moment there basically cemented this as my favorite Canto to date. The orchestral reprise of the Leviathan theme with the EGO. Heathcliff calling him family (and he just kinda accepts too! It's very cute). And for us Leviathan readers, the additional emotional payoff for Vergilius' character. I want to nerd out over Leviathan so bad lol, but it's better if you read it yourself if you have the time! ...when it's available again, of course. Long story short, PM's having a little bit of copyright dispute over it, but let's not talk about allat.
Since I know the entire comment section will be filled with APOLOGY FORMS and OUR GUIDE, I just wanna say that Hex Nail slaps, a big damage boost on any team with a bunch of envy and/or pierce. So, goes amazing with Pequods, charge teams as well (Harpooner or Rabbit Heath both go Pierce+Envy). Costs only envy and lets you set up a giant nuke in a single turn. You can even use it on Kromer Faust and combo it with Gaze which she inflicted last turn, making the rest of the team deal vile amounts of damage. Ya Sunyata a bit less hype, but if you ever go Lust heavy, it can have similiar uses. The SP healing is very nice.

Local Theobro in the comment section: Regarding Vergilius’ E.G.O and the crown of thorns, it was exclusive to Christs execution because of the specific charges he faced: Being “King of the Jews”. They also gave Him a scepter. For the combo of the Crown/Laurel (a design I find very cool), my guess is that it represents the fact that Verg stands ‘enthroned’ as the Red Gaze, a colored fixer (with the laurel specifically referencing the poet Virgil, who Vergilius is obviously based off of) while the thorns digging in represent the sheer heart wrenching pain Verg’s dealt with during his life (which can be seen in the graphic novel/story about him I can’t remember the name of)
The red GOAT will always be the hypest moment so far in this game! Also regarding what he said about the kid he left The Gladius to was a reference to the events in the comic series he was in called Leviathan, a somewhat interlude story that happen before Limbus and after LoR. This exact event happened in the books and he went and helped the sinners because he does not want such event to happen again

1:20:13 in case no one else mentioned this, when your sinners corrode they still spend ego resources. you werent at 2 envy the previous turn, you were at -2 because corroded binds costs envy to use. learnt this the hard way when i was soloing with potential man and he used corroded binds 5 times in one turn. had to give up on activating his passive for that fight
39:53 The "thorned crown" is just called the crown of thorns. There wasn't a historical precedent for the Romans doing this but, according to the Bible, it was something that the crowd did. This was basically mocking Jesus as "king of the jews", giving him a useless crown made out of a painful material that was just picked up from the roadside. The Roman government was VERY MUCH a fan of making an example out of political/religious dissidents, so most anything demeaning was technically allowed as long as the legal proceedings and actual crucifixion process weren't interfered with.

So glad you spent at least five seconds to read the passives of the Erklin fight, the amount of streamers /youtubes who dont in this fight is ridiculous, I have seen some bash their head agaisnt the wall on this fight for hours until they learn to read. Kinda unlucky not to beat on first try, mainly lost by not clashing the AOE properly and not focusing the relevant sin effected enemy. Also I think your level as it is fine as it kinda simulates closer to prenerf feel to the fights.
Since you're REALLY into Through Patches of Violet (the feeling is mutual), I'm just gonna suggest not looking it up until after you finish the Canto. Main reason being the fact that looking up anything limbus adjacent on this site, spoilers flood your youtube recommendations. I only get dragged into Limbus because I was listening to some Mili tracks and got spoiled on Kromer's fight and theme. You're getting pretty close to current content, though, so that won't be an issue, soon. Also, you had -1 Envy because corrosion and overclocking lets you use more resources then you possess at the cost of going into debt.
Btw the gong (or whatever it is) rings out whenever someone is manifesting their EGO. as shown with Ahab and Dongrang. Probably Spicebush too but i don't remember.

about the Outis ego you got, while its not high damage ego per say its very low risk and low cost SPAM ego that lets you win most clashes you feel you will lose with normal skill (like it hard carried me in RR3 thanks to basically healing up entire SP back on UT3 and with how many struggling/neutral clashes it clutched for me) so its really worth it to invest into it imo (if you look for safety net/risk free panic button) EDIT: welp now i wanna hear Foreman's "Through patches of violet" cover
Small tip with the new Dante Ability: If your corroded Sinner is targeting your units with the indiscriminate attack even with all the possible combinations, using it will randomize its targets again. Then again, this shouldn't be happening in the first place lol. Good luck
Don't look up the song to do a cover yet... that particular fight segment just had the first part on repeat and while I do not want to spoil you I will say that the song gets even better so let it play fully in game before looking it up.
The hype doesn't stop here, just letting you know. Mr Red Gaze, dubbed as the most dangerous Fixer currently in the City by Roland himself (in a Twitter post made by PM before Limbus released as a teaser), is indeed one of the peak moments of this Canto, but the end is yet to come. I definitely agree with Potential Man falling off around the end of this Canto, though. Great work as always, Foreman~ The Sweetman Lore™ expands, ey. Also, a Mili cover would be definitely be interesting to watch~

It's so nice seeing Vergilius warming up to the sinners man. Honestly, the bus company has a very familiar vibe to the office he used to run back in Leviathan, and due to what happened there I firmly believe he was trying to keep them at arm's length so he wouldn't develop an attachment to the gang. And you were pretty much on point about the symbolism with the laurel crown. It combines imagery from Christ, being the crown of thorns with the Roman laurel wreath, but the leaves are withered, 'cause he's a fucked up wet cat of a man. Long story short, Vergilius is taking on the task of punishing the City or like, cleaning it of the corruption all by himself.
You're kinda lucky to have gotten to this moment just now, remember some asshole had this moment in his thumbnail the moment part 3 released and UA-cam kept recommending him to me lmaoo, it still had me fucking howling when I got to it tho. Fucking amazing Canto Fun fact: To manifest E.G.O you Need heightened Emotions, you can't just do it. Its the reason Gebura only can use hers at emotion level 4 in Ruina, and the other E.G.O show up in intensely emotional moments (baring the sinners who use Sin?). Vergilius who is usually coldly calm even at horrific sights like the Whales, is experiencing emotions so strong he can manifest his fully developed E.G.O just by the sight of the 'Husks'.
His is a complete ego manifestation. I think his ego come from the idea of a marthir a person that suffered for the good of others. The why and how is explain on leviathan.
1:15:30 you have the potential to do something *really* funny here since each attack landed inflicts 2 bleed count, you end up count positive and since each attack also inflicts 2 bleed you stack it up real fast if you just guard the skills (ig evade wouldn't work unless you fail it or go slower) that can allow you to stack up so much bleed Heathcliff just dies of it also don't hit the envy aura with 5 coin skills, worst mistake of my life

1:20:13 in case no one else mentioned this, when your sinners corrode they still spend ego resources. you werent at 2 envy the previous turn, you were at -2 because corroded binds costs envy to use. learnt this the hard way when i was soloing with potential man and he used corroded binds 5 times in one turn. had to give up on activating his passive for that fight

39:53 The "thorned crown" is just called the crown of thorns. There wasn't a historical precedent for the Romans doing this but, according to the Bible, it was something that the crowd did. This was basically mocking Jesus as "king of the jews", giving him a useless crown made out of a painful material that was just picked up from the roadside. The Roman government was VERY MUCH a fan of making an example out of political/religious dissidents, so most anything demeaning was technically allowed as long as the legal proceedings and actual crucifixion process weren't interfered with.

It looks like he tried to clash every enemy on-screen and not focus on one target, which probably does more harm than good considering the game will only get harder and more gimmicky from here

So glad you spent at least five seconds to read the passives of the Erklin fight, the amount of streamers /youtubes who dont in this fight is ridiculous, I have seen some bash their head agaisnt the wall on this fight for hours until they learn to read. Kinda unlucky not to beat on first try, mainly lost by not clashing the AOE properly and not focusing the relevant sin effected enemy. Also I think your level as it is fine as it kinda simulates closer to prenerf feel to the fights.

Since you're REALLY into Through Patches of Violet (the feeling is mutual), I'm just gonna suggest not looking it up until after you finish the Canto.
Main reason being the fact that looking up anything limbus adjacent on this site, spoilers flood your youtube recommendations. I only get dragged into Limbus because I was listening to some Mili tracks and got spoiled on Kromer's fight and theme.
You're getting pretty close to current content, though, so that won't be an issue, soon.

about the Outis ego you got, while its not high damage ego per say
its very low risk and low cost SPAM ego that lets you win most clashes you feel you will lose with normal skill
(like it hard carried me in RR3 thanks to basically healing up entire SP back on UT3 and with how many struggling/neutral clashes it clutched for me)
so its really worth it to invest into it imo (if you look for safety net/risk free panic button)

Small tip with the new Dante Ability: If your corroded Sinner is targeting your units with the indiscriminate attack even with all the possible combinations, using it will randomize its targets again. Then again, this shouldn't be happening in the first place lol. Good luck
Don't look up the song to do a cover yet... that particular fight segment just had the first part on repeat and while I do not want to spoil you I will say that the song gets even better so let it play fully in game before looking it up.
The hype doesn't stop here, just letting you know. Mr Red Gaze, dubbed as the most dangerous Fixer currently in the City by Roland himself (in a Twitter post made by PM before Limbus released as a teaser), is indeed one of the peak moments of this Canto, but the end is yet to come. I definitely agree with Potential Man falling off around the end of this Canto, though.

It's so nice seeing Vergilius warming up to the sinners man. Honestly, the bus company has a very familiar vibe to the office he used to run back in Leviathan, and due to what happened there I firmly believe he was trying to keep them at arm's length so he wouldn't develop an attachment to the gang.
And you were pretty much on point about the symbolism with the laurel crown. It combines imagery from Christ, being the crown of thorns with the Roman laurel wreath, but the leaves are withered, 'cause he's a fucked up wet cat of a man. Long story short, Vergilius is taking on the task of punishing the City or like, cleaning it of the corruption all by himself.

Fun fact: To manifest E.G.O you Need heightened Emotions, you can't just do it. Its the reason Gebura only can use hers at emotion level 4 in Ruina, and the other E.G.O show up in intensely emotional moments (baring the sinners who use Sin?).
Vergilius who is usually coldly calm even at horrific sights like the Whales, is experiencing emotions so strong he can manifest his fully developed E.G.O just by the sight of the 'Husks'.

since each attack landed inflicts 2 bleed count, you end up count positive and since each attack also inflicts 2 bleed you stack it up real fast if you just guard the skills (ig evade wouldn't work unless you fail it or go slower)

Not reading Leviathan after this display is a disservice to yourself. It's not a matter of me or @GuardianZet or anyone else whining about "but muh storiezz!", anyone who didn't read the origin story (of sorts) of Vergilius is missing out, and this hypest moment is an indicator of how much.
A bit of unfortunate timing with Leviathan's availability though... Let's hope they sort that shit out and nothing too bad happens.
