Its raining ducks!! Ha, ha, ha! So cute!!! This just proves that ducks can count, especially mother ducks! Absolutely adorable creatures, warms the heart so see them paddling frantically, close to Mum. I cannot imagine how 23 ducks + Mum can fit into this tiny box!
That's quite the sizable brood she has there! What a good idea to place the nesting box right above the water, to save them the trek through the forest to get there! And how wonderful that you were able to get it all on video! Thank you!

That one at 7:12 that was catching up, kicked so hard it was picking up out the water. Reminds me of a muscle car popping up on two wheels during take off. I don't understand how people can hunt these beautiful creatures. Thanks a lot to responsible hunters and conservationists for helping to bring these marvelous animals back from the brink. It's a hard life for ducks and ducklings.
Hate to ruin the joke, but it's all instinct. When mama makes that soft, pulsing call, the babies immediately start trying to find her - and seeing that the only way out is the hole mama went through, that's where they go. Thankfully, the humans who build these nest boxes generally provide some wire fencing on the walls for the ducklings to grip.
We had someone's when I was young. They took over a squirrel's nest in a tall tree that was on a terrace between our house and the lake. The squirrels never went back to that nest
Wow. That is pretty cool. I’d love to see that. That is the cutest thing ever. Wherever momma goes the little ducks follow relentlessly...love it. Mother nature is something special.
Awesome video so nice to watch the way they swim with their mama in the natural way so cute. I had never seen these type of wood duck thanks for sharing such adorable video.
......19,20,21..... and some more !!!! Did I get that right ? It's simply amazing. Mother 🦆 duck sure knows her numbers since she appears to be waiting for the ducklings to jump out of the box, wading back and forth in the water. Great video.💖💖
Amazing how they can get up to that exit door!!! and mom can count too, knows when it's okay to swim away. pretty amazing creatures. Thanks for sharing.
My favorite duck of all. Had lots of them on fall migration recently. I marvel at how instinctively animals nurture their young. Wish all humans would learn from such devoted parents
So beautiful video...mommy is so taking care of her ducklings...she waited for all her ducklings calmly..and ducklings are so adorable...in love with these duckling videos these days..🐣🐤🌸💖🙏
Thanks for posting. Love the little tiny babies. The wood ducks bring their babies and they climb on a float tied up to the houseboat. I've even had them on the swim platform of the boat. She'll rest her babies there until I come out and feed them. So cute! I've made friend with the male wood duck too. Two are named and will come when I call their name. In the fall, the males are the most beautiful ducks I've ever seen. They look like velvet. And just like they know when hunting season begin they disappear. Do I have repeat ducks from the year before? I think so...but have no way of knowing for sure. It warms my heart that you care enough to share your duck love.

I love the natural world so much. It keeps me on track. On another note, what mom could be in a cramped space with 23 babies who are ready to roll? She had to jump. And they had to jump. Worked out great for all of them.
What a fantastic video super idea to place that box there easy for little popcorn to jump out well done for your recoding. And thanks for sharing this with us
Sweetest Video,I had a pair of Mallords ànd built them a house,13 ducklings hatched!Mother and me babied them with a swimming pool and when they were grown,we took them to a private lake! Boy! They sailed across the lake in Splendor.
Could somebody kindly explain to this person what their "godly universe" actually does to most of these adorable little ducklings? If the Supreme Being exists, and this is all going according to their design, they're sort of a psychopath.
More than likely other birds laid eggs in that box. Happens all the time. One hen is tasked with incubating them all, or the nest will be abandoned because she can't incubate them all.
Can the little ones get back in the duck house once they have jumped out or are they done with the house at that point? My 23 month old boy loved the video.
I wonder how this duck would get inside this nesting box, while she was brooding..did she fly straight from the water to the box?.wouldnt the eggs become wet in that case?
Culturally, wood ducks to a Chinese is like a mourning dove for American. Almost all Chinese gardens try to host a pair of wood ducks. Plus, wood ducks are the only non-mythical animal that has different Chinese name according to their gender.
I saw a mom and her (roughly) ten babies cross a street in our subdivision going from one pond to another the other day. So-o cute. I know for a fact that there are snappers in both ponds, so it's quite possible all of those babies won't make it. That's nature. Thanks for this video.
Beautiful video. No narration or music, just the sounds of nature. Well done & thank you.

Those baby's are fast and according to their size and the height they had to jump from they are not afraid......
Awesome video
They usually jump above from almost 50 meters heigh 😌

Momma know how many are there and waits for them all to dive in❤️❤️❤️. Beautiful video!
The way they don't hesitate to dive from so high and immediatly swim behind their mother, pure animals instinct.

Actually, quite low, most wood duck boxes are much higher, and if in tree, way higher and often they jump to ground, not water.
Most will lose their lives in less than 2 weeks.
They have a tiny survival manual and a tiny flashlight for reading while inside the egg waiting to hatch
I love how the left behind ones sprint to reach the group!!!Cuteee!!
Thanks for taking the time to photograph this and share your pictures, Scott. I look forward to seeing more of your pictures in the future.

Didn't know they are reared in a box. I have adults on my pond so now I have a box to build. Thanks for the video.
I mean, naturally they use hollow dead trees and the like. But boxes are lovely for them.

When we build those houses we put a fine screen on the inside of the door up to the window. The little ones can climb up the screen.

There was no deity involved, just millions of years of evolution.
They just have instinct to swim right away. It took a month for me to learn how to swim. Man
It is because you didn't jump that height!
they can swim, they can walk on land, they can fly too..they have everything in life
Love the video..wanted to see how momma duck feed these 23 chicks..
Amazing. All of it. I'm left wondering how one hen could lay so many eggs within so few days or all at once? Great vid!

Beautiful, thank you.
How ADORABLE!
I don’t know what a duck “litter” is called, but 23??? Wow!
The part I don't get is how does the mother duck land in the box to begin with? And how does she know when the last duckling has left the box?
Wow, that's the exact query going through my mind. And how come 23 ducklings managed to live in that box. Something Ironic.
I had a duck as a kid I raised it from a baby oh so cute and when it grew up it was a girl and it laid eggs everyday my baby I love that little thing
Can the little ones get back in the duck house once they have jumped out or are they done with the house at that point? My 23 month old boy loved the video.
Chuck Scott They're done. Mama might come back to use the next box again next year if it's not already occupied, though!
***** Oh no, poor mama! Hope she found a new place to lay. Mergansers are also ridiculously adorable.
How did she initially fit through the hole carrying 23 fertilized eggs!?
I wonder, how can all of them fit in that small box? Were they just hatched or what?
Thanks for the video. Do they fly back up at night? they look to small to fly,
My god how beautiful and so many she sure liked that summer

How does mother duck know if all the babies are out of the nest box ?
How did the duck went 2 tht box.
How many eggs can swimming birds lay?
How on earth did they all fit inside there ~ Amazing ~
So adorable!
Must be very crowded in it but they survived , thankyu what a beautiful video.
How do they get back into that box? Its too high for them!
How do they get back? Or does mother need to make a new nest?
did she successfully raise all 23? I've never seen one duck with so many babies
most likely at least half of them get eaten by al soort of things
Normally, about 1/3 will reach adulthood. It's sad but that's Nature's way.
Interesting, but how will they get back in the box ?
My question is, how do they get up there
How do they get in the box? Or they were all born in there now left?
How did she fit through that door with 23 eggs in her?
But how did they get into the box.Who put them there??
I wonder how this duck would get inside this nesting box, while she was brooding..did she fly straight from the water to the box?.wouldnt the eggs become wet in that case?
How will they get back up there?

GOOD JOB LITTLE ONES! VERY HANDSOME DUCKIES!
how old? they have plumage and good coordination of movement between the wings and feet..I wonder how old are they?
Can the little babies fly to get back in the box or did they leave it for good?
Ain't no going back .
