Siticmon It's nature and it happens, but what if you lost a son/daughter or brother/sister. They're animals and who knows if they have feelings like some humans.
They do not have the sympathy of humans as they do not bond with their family as much as we do. Humans and other animals like great apes, elephants, cetaceans raise their youngs much longer than other animals and the offsprings have a lot to learn from parents so they normally share much stronger bond to keep them together for long time. These animals are normally seen grieving their lost youngs for long time sometimes for years. However, birds with many precocial chicks like ducks only raise their youngs for a short period of time, normally less than a year and their youngs learn much less from parents, thus they don't really bond much with their parents. Lost chicks are normally forgotten very soon so the parents can focus their attention on the rest of the chicks.
Of course they don't have the same capacity for feelings like humans do. But when they are actively trying to get their chick across the stream and see their child get flushed away, they definitely feel something. They forget it after a short time, but in the moment, they definitely have feelings. And those are the ones I was wondering about.
Dang... ducks are hardcore... these ducks face impossible currents and there is another duck species that straight up forces its babies to dive bomb off an impossibly high cliff. Respect.

The duck then came across his parents, and brothers corpses screaming, in mental agony, as he lost his chance to connect after so many years.
