None more so than in the study of the anatomy of the human body, but this in turn lead to a severe shortage of corpses for teaching and research purposes.

Hare was actually blinded after his identity was descoverd in a factory in England and was pushed in a vat of chemicals making him a blind begger just in case you didn't know

Burke's remains and artefacts are at the museum as stated but are not on public display. The trade in graverobbing was severely stifled by security measures at graveyards in Edinburgh. From nightwatchmen to mort cages (some of which can still be seen at greyfriars kirkyard) but a common method was for the family of the deceased to rent a large stone slab and place it over the grave. The idea being that after a month the body would be decomposed enough to be useless to the university at which point the slab would be removed and then leased to the next bereaved family

The story of the Burke and Hare Murders inspired The Body Snatcher by Robert Louis Stevenson which in turn inspired the 1945 film The Body Snatcher starring Boris Karloff, Henry Daniell and Bela Lugosi. Great film btw!

One thing which isn't mentioned here is that there exists a term called as BURKING. It is derived from the method Burke and Hare used to kill their victims.
One of the men would smother the victim with a pillow held firmly over the face while sitting on the victims chest and the other would drag the victim across the room with the other man still sitting atop his chest. The weight of the man on the victim's chest would prevent his chest from expanding thus limiting respiration and of course the pillow would prevent the victim from breathing through the mouth and the nostrils.
The victim used to die mainly because of traumatic asphyxia.... Sad but true..!
