This video captures the essence of what fishing means to me beautifully, its not about the biggest, the most, or the ego, it's about the experience. Des reminds me of the old boys who i grew up trying to emulate on the 1960s like Fred Taylor and Dick Walker. Thankyou for posting this.
Des, you’re a gem, I’ve never seen your videos before but they’re bloody brilliant, I had some Des Taylor DAM pike rods back in the day, wonderful rods, I can’t say I’ve seen your video’s before, I like your simple way to explaining everything you do, wherever it barbel, carp or pike fishing! Keep up the great work!!
Hi Desmondo, that’s one of your best videos ever. You can still enthuse an old codger (me) to get out there and do a bit of fishing. I cherish the time Ken and I spent with you when perch fishing and the few pints we downed. You certainly looked after us and I hope everything is well with you and yours. Cheers Dannyboy
Dear Des, I started fishing as a young kid at 6yrs old in the ponds of the UK, and now at 60 I find myself fishing from the ocean rocks of Australia. Your vids absolutely and beautifully portray what fishing is about for me.. Just simply being out there, regardless of the catch. And the last part made me laugh out loud, been there done that, nothing like adding a dirt garnish to the bacon lol 😂😂😂 Thank you from Down Under. ❤
Nice old school pike video Des set in a beautiful location.👍 Nice to see i'm not the only one to suffer the curse of the ridgemonkey! Infact i've had it happen that many times now that food just doesn't taste the same without a bit grit! 😂
Reminds me of heading for the Ardennes, many decades ago. Cold early morning, big lake, making tea while soaking in the atmosphere, getting the gear ready...this video took me back, you really nailed the essence, Des. Thank you!
What a great watch, throughly enjoyed watching. Same for me, sat behind my rods, fish or no fish & breathing in nature, love it! The breakfast though! I would have still eaten it as well 😂
I remember reading your articles many many years ago as a boy and now watching the videos and wow you said everything thing there is to about pike fishing in one short film with no BS and keeping it simple and hopefully some of the idiots that fish for pike nowadays learn from this and stop deep hooking the fish and thinking it’s normal thing to do 👍

Hi great show. Educational to. What are your thoughts on bait additives for dead baits ? I like to always have a flavord bait.
Cracking video 👌
Thank you John! 👍
Nice video good looking pike. How did you get on with the breakfast 😂
Thanks Michael! He still ate the breakfast.
I HAVE DROPPED MANY FISH BUT NEVER MY BACON HAHAHA
Hi Des, that are really small thin wire treble hooks you are using.
“tattle den” 😊
Not about records just about the thrill of the fishing and a bacon sandwich (hopefully 😂)
What’s it cost for the privilege of a day’s pike fishing in old blighty?
They all say don't wait to hit the fish as soon as you get an indication. See how many fish you lose hitting them as soon as you get an indication.
