    Honestly I don't think you're average. I mean you're an inspiration, you took everything in an average person and youre showing everyone how to do extraordinary things with it. To be fair though, it is now his job to have a high amount of discipline and determination, his videos wouldn't be successful and he would have no income if he failed every one of his videos. He has quite a bit on the line. IE- Could I go out right now in my poor fitness shape and run 2 miles? Hell no. Could I go out right now and run 2 miles with someone in front of me in a car holding a briefcase with 50 grand in it? Yes.

His job is on the line if he fails to complete these challenges he sets out for himself, imagine how popular his youtube channel would be if he failed every single one of these videos. (Not very popular)

      rdizzy1 Money is a great incentive, and I'm sure that's no small part of what keeps him going. Still, don't you reckon he was on UA-cam making videos for next to nothing for several years before a large monetary incentive came into play? I would be careful pinning his determination on money, since that could easily manifest itself in your head as an excuse for not taking on a challenge.
      There're some people who get tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars a month for talking behind a microphone, and their job looks easy as hell on the surface. As casual spectators, we don't see the years of grinding that built up what that public figure is today.

    Hi Mike, I know this video is old and this will most likely get buried but I just wanted to say that last year, when I was 10, I swam 1.1 miles in open water with no wetsuit, just trunks, hat and goggles . It was about 12-13°c, maybe even a bit colder, I swam the entirity of the distance in an even better time than expected. I truly understand the feeling of elation you felt when you had finished it, I have done it a few more times this year. I love your channel, thanks for the inspiration, I remember watching this last year when I was acclimatising (for about a year at that time) I had not attempted the swim yet. I was ridiculously nervous but one day, myself and my dad did it. We have done it a few more times now and I must say I'm really enjoying it. Thanks from Ireland🇨🇮 🇨🇮 🇨🇮🍀🍀👍👍👍

    Mike, I have an idea for a video. Learn to do a firewalk! It's really dangerous tho so make sure you consult with someone who knows what they're doing before attempting it. like this comment if you agree. (Also this way he'll have gone to the extremes of the temperatures)

    • @amyshaw893
      @amyshaw893 6 років тому +7

      its not that stupidly dangerous, as long as you get your wick on, and dont dawdle. but dont run, or you'll be mashing the embers into your feet. as long as you wait for the fire to burn down, the embers will be covered in ash, which is a great insulator. and foot skin is pretty strong, as long as you go out oftn, and use it.

    Hey mike, I use to swim completely and would like to offer some advice if you continue swimming. You are crossing your arms over the center of your body. This greatly reduces the power you get from each stroke. To be the most efficient you want to make ever stroke stronger. You can measure your practice by trying to get the least amount of strokes in a length of the pool. Love the videos, love swimming, hope to see more.
