I have walked with Him 66 years. I know the written Word of God pretty well. I have found that He speaks to me quietly through His Word, and at the moment of worry or distress. Where did that come from is my frequent reaction. Through Him I also experience some quite, Bible based Sunday S. songs. He knows exactly what I need and when to bring it to me. I read all the comments and it seems most people are confused with what the Holy Spirit reveals to them in their journey vs what is meant as prophesy in terms of old and New Testament. I guess in my mind if you’ve read the whole bible and believe it- you wouldn’t need to argue anything. Our father in heaven gave us his word and revealed to us everything we need to know past present and future including what happens after death and to the world in the end days and what we as Christian’s are responsible and called to do. What could any person possibly add that’s of value that teaches beyond what is already been written?

I am surprised that you bible scholars are found to be mocking the office of a prophet just because your faith does not take you to that level. That’s the problem with the reformation church, their religion, and beliefs started from Martin Luther who was a break away from the Roman Catholic belief that was a type of antichrist, his revelation was only in part, he never went back to the founding teaching of the real church who were the Apostles which would have to lead you to Ephesians 4:11-13
The Apostle Paul clearly stated the outline of the church and its purpose. Further reference is made in 1 Corinthians 13 where it speaks about exercising love along with the spiritual gifts which include prophecy.
The Apostle Paul states after starting the church he was the last Apostle (1 Corinthians 15:8) because the role of establishing the church’s foundation was through the 12 + Paul, no further foundation was to be laid. The problem with the reformation doctrine it came much later, I don’t think Luther even refers to the Holy Spirit as the founding fathers did or you would find a lot of teaching on the Fruits of the Spirit, Gifts of the Spirit.
Apostle Paul states according to Galatians 1:8 if any man preaches any other gospel than the one we preach to you let him be accursed. Hence your mocking of a gift of the Holy Spirit. I notice this is a recent upload may be in response to what has been happening recently, just because there are false prophets does not mean there are not real ones and that the office of a prophet does not exist today.

⏺There were prophets from Jerusalem whose prophecies are not recorded in Scripture, except by Agabus, incl. concerning a famine, a warning that was acted upon:
    Ac 11^27-30 ; (Ac 13^1)
⏺Also, the prophecies by the 4 daughters of an evangelist at Ceasarea are not recorded in Scripture (women were probably allowed to prophesy in church but not teach); the prophet Agabus also gave a prophetic warning to Paul:
    Ac 21^8-11
⏺Timothy received personal prophecies concerning his ministry and Gift:
    1-Tim 1^18 ; 1-Tim 4^14
⏺It seems that the Gifts will only cease at "the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ"; knowing now only in part until we see Him face to face:
    1-Cor 1^7 ; 1-Cor 13^9-12
⏺Some disciples at Ephesus spoke in Tongues and prophesied after receiving the Holy Spirit, these prophesies are not recorded in Scripture:
    Ac 19^6
⏺Judas (surnamed Barsabas) and Silas were also prophets:
    Ac 15^32
⏺Also, why would God inspire Scripture for us concerning the orderly use of Gifts in the church if already expired by the time of the Canon? These Gifts, including prophecy, are given, not to add to Scripture, but to edify and equip the church:
    1-Cor 12 & 14 ; Eph 4^8-12
⏺Jesus and John warned us against "false" prophets, not against all prophecy; test the spirits:
    Mat 24^24 ; 1-Jn 4^1-3
    ⏺We should not despise prophesy:
    1-Thess 5^19-21
⏺We are encouraged to desire the Gifts, especially prophesy, but are given by the Holy Spirit as He wills:
    1-Cor 14^1 ; 12^11

I think many people are missing the mark on what is being said. I was operating in offense after I heard the first guy speak because I know my experiences with God. Correct me if I am wrong, but it sounds like he was referring to there being the prophets of the old days. The ones that were spoken a word from God to be put into the bible that we use today. The bible is complete and no one can add to it. I did find it odd that he called it preaching. God does speak to his prophets, but it really should line up with his word. There is nothing new underneath the sun. He said my sheep know my voice. God sends us warning as prophets, we are supposed to be watchmen and aware of things to come. Why don't we do it the old fashioned way, like 1 Corinthians 14 says for the prophets, or gift of prophecy should operate in the house when we come together, why don't we let them prophecy one by one, up to three people, and then let's see if the thing prophecied comes to pass if it doesn't they are false Prophet's, or prophetess, but if the thing be true then they are true Prophet's, or prophetess, I like the Bibles way of determining who's real, and who's not, this is what happens when u get a bunch of people on a stage, and none of them us scripture to prove their point.

However, if we believe we receive the Holy Spirit at justification (we do), then to accept fully what Lawson just said, we would also have to believe that GOD the Spirit is a deaf mute, not to ever speak to us, guide us, lead us, teach us, as GOD the Son JESUS already declared the Spirit would be doing in each of us.

I believed the gift of prophecy is a continuing gift of God for all , who maintain FAITH in Christ ( God ) in his lifetime .
Why ? Because prophecy comes from , not only knowing God , but in BELIEVING His Written Words , the Bible ; the Holy Scriptures !!!
There can be NO Sure Prophecy without Faith . It’s a common principle in life ! In God, or other matters .
This might be of help . Read : l Timothy 1:18-20 . Or start verse one .

Tell me, if while reading the Bible, the words you read became an audible voice that was speaking to you and not your own voice while reading out loud, would you still be laughing?
Do you know what it feels like to experience love as warmth and energy and your mind being flooded by an indescribable golden light? No? Are you even sure of your own calling as a Preacher then?
You might warn me about the evil one disguising himself as an angel of light. Trust me, there's a big difference between true light and dark light. I could also ask you what God meant when He was speaking through Jeremia:
Then [with a deep longing] you will seek Me and require Me [as a vital necessity] and [you will] find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you,’ says the Lord, ‘and I will restore your fortunes and I will [free you and] gather you from all the nations and from all the places where I have driven you,’ says the Lord, ‘and I will bring you back to the place from where I sent you into exile.’
    Jeremiah 29:13‭-‬14 AMP
What does God mean by Him being found? Those He was speaking to obviously had Scriptures where God had revealed Himself, so could it be that Paul wasn't merely implying a wrong interpretation of Scripture when he wrote that the 'letter kills but the Spirit gives life'?
I dislike people that give themselves titles as much as the next person, but don't be so quick to laugh something away that you can't grasp intellectually.

Love as warmth and energy and golden light sounds the same as New Ager testimonies. Obviously I can't put myself in another person's mind, but I thought I would share.

    • @LeRoiBooysen
      @LeRoiBooysen 2 роки тому

@@ELishaJesus1980 I was a new ager experimenting with psychedelics and the occult and came across many things that would have been better left alone. That's one of the reasons I was so shocked at some of the things taking place in the charismatic movements like holy laughter etc. It felt like I had just walked out of where I was straight into exactly the same thing but with a sugarcoating on top of it.
The thing that new agers won't admit (or understand) is that the light and colours they cling to are mostly shades (dark light). That's why the experience was so unique to me personally and obviously can't be proven. I could say that fire resembles golden light and then refer to the burning bush, tongues like fire, anointing oil, golden streets etc.
The only description that ever came close to it was an original testimony by Ian McCormack from the 80's which you should take a listen too and judge for yourself.

@@LeRoiBooysen I also came from a New Age type of background, and like you I was shocked to see so much of that in the charismatic church, which I really knew hardly anything about before I was saved. And, when I was born again I did experience light too, but it wasn't golden coloured. It was bright white, blindingly bright white yet at the same time I could still see. I saw Ian McCormack's video testimony years ago but in general I'm quite wary of Near Death Experiences. I purposely try to not tell other people my personal experience when I was saved because there are so many Christians out there that are skeptical of experiences (I am too, depending upon the type and content of the experience). I've learnt not to cast pearls before swine in that regard. While I do consider myself Reformed in belief and understanding, I cannot agree with Justin Peters about visions and dreams, though I agree with everything else he says.

  • @kennstack01

We don't define our theology by our experiences. We're under the Word of God. The Scripture is the Word of God. And The Word of God is GOD.
    The Word > Personal experience.

    • @ELishaJesus1980
      @ELishaJesus1980 2 роки тому +3

The trouble with your view is that being born again IS an experience, and so we should be careful not to throw the baby out. We always defer to scripture as being above experience or in some sense more reliable, but to wipe away experience entirely is an error in my opinion. For if there was no experience accompanying salvation, there would be no difference between a saved person and a non-believer.

"Is the gift of prophecy still alive or active today?"
    Well kind Sirs...it depends...For...
... MOST Prophesies are fake for 3,500 yrs; ever since Abraham was honored by God Himself. Thus, most "Prophesiers" are driven by ego. Oh yes. But the real "prophesiers" are one's; AFTER Jesus told them...
Ye shall not consider what ye shall say; when you get there. For the Holy Spirit will put the words in your mouth; at the appointed time. AMEN! However, this MUST be the same for EVERY pastor that will have ever been.
But most pastors are their ONLY because of their egos. Oh indeed yes. But of course, there are a few Heavenly driven true prophecies? Yes, but VERY, VERY few for sure! Because MOST of the true Prophecies have been espoused LONG ago.
So beware and be ready to see: those "so-called" prophesiers: standing before Jesus on "Judgment Day"; when Jesus says to them , "I NEVER knew YOU"! End of Story and I rest me case...
...In any case kind Sirs, Please Pray OFTEN and Praise Jesus OFTEN; for He is the ONLY true "God Almighty"; there will ever have been. And may Jesus bless you and yours always. AMEN!
