I purchased a Bauer cordless chainsaw and it wouldn't start either so I looked for a video. Thankfully there was somebody in the comments that said that you have to pull the handguard forward and that worked. Thank you. Overall I give this all five stars. I'm not a freaking lumberjack, once in awhile I have to cut down a tree and chop it up in little pieces and this thing went through three decent size trees like they were made out of butter. For 70 bucks. Bucks I'd buy this all day long. It's going to sit in my shed for a couple years now.

I've been using my Bauer chainsaw for three seasons now and it works perfect. No issues what so ever. I keep it full of oil and the chain sharp and adjusted properly. It cuts as good as any gas chainsaw I've owned.

Do you know you have to pull the hand guard bar towards you in order for it to work? I also thought I had an out of the box fail, but I stumbled across the fix.

I bought the $50 harbor freight chain saw and it worked great. I was skeptical, but I was cutting up 12 inch logs without much effort. For my needs, which is cutting up logs and brush, it is perfect. All I can say is that mine worked without any problem.

I loved my 16" Bauer from the moment I bought it last year until today. I cut a lot of logs and I was using this for mostly 3" to 6" logs into rounds to be stacked or split. I did go thru larger stuff when the rounds were too long for my fireplace.
Today I was cutting one when the chain flew off. I put it back together and resumed cutting when it wouldn't start. I put the break on and then took it off and it would start up. However, it would only start up again if I put the break on and took it off. That worked thru a few more cuts then nothing allowed it to start. I felt the housing and it wasn't hot like a burned out motor so I'm not sure what's going on. I actually came on UA-cam in the hope I'd find a satisfactory fix rather than having it become junk.

Good video. I have a Harbor Freight Bauer 16" electric (plug in) chainsaw that needs a new plastic gear. All teeth teeth are worn down. My trouble is I can't find a replacement gear anywhere. The gear I need is about 4 1/4" dia, but the spindle in the center is a bit different than the one I see on line...one side has a 1" bearing that is attached to a geared shaft. I was trying to find out who manufactures the saw so I could contact them directly as HF was no help. Would you have any information on where I can get this gear? Thanks.

it is unlikely you will find a replacement, especially since there are several models of this saw (and other saws they sell, like the portland), they all look the same but the base design varies by the manufacture, and hf normally uses more than 1 manufacture - so the gear that you are looking for might be different even is you find one for that model - the best option is to get one designed for 3D printing - PETG would last a while, but it will wear out, ABS would last, but not everyone uses ABS becuase it off gases toxic fumes, but if you could get one printed in PETG, you could get replacements easily, the material to make the gear would be about $1, it finding someone to design it and print it that would cost - you mith find one on thingiverse.com, a basic 3d printer is about $200 (there are cheaper and more expensive, 2 pound of plastic PETG is about $20 and you could print 100 out of 1 spool - in todays sue happy world, unlikely to find someone printing replacement parts, but doing it for yourself would be relatively cheap - good luck finding a replacement - thanks for subscribing!

I bought one from the used returned section and it didn’t work some research reviled the chain lock was engaged. I think the lock not only locked the blade but prevents the motor from running

I picked up the Bauer 20V Polesaw this weekend because I was working on my daughter and son-in-law's land (fortunately they had the 20% off coupon live!), and it did a GREAT job! Curious (I don't think you said this in the video...) -- did you (or are you planning to) exchange it or return for a refund? If the former, I hope you'll do a followup. Love your reviews!

I have a similar saw looking at the side view I wonder was your kickback guard tripped? If so the saw won’t even engage electrically. Would seem as if it was broke. That’s just with my black and decker looks real similar same features

I don’t have this issue, but the chain on mine is as loose as a goose after the first cut and following the procedure to tighten it did not help. Anyone here have issues with re-tightening loose chains? And I do know to do it when the saw is cold. Chain expands from heat generated by cutting.

I bought the Bauer brushless angle grinder when it first came out.....it sat in the box for 3 months and when I took it out it didn't work either. I have seen another video here on UA-cam with the exact same issue.

Bauer 16 inch electric saw worked great the first two times i used it. Cutting up branches 3-6 inches and went to use it today... Chain wont spin, after tearing it apart and blowing air to cleanout everything. I tried again, brake not engage, motor is running but chain not spinning, with some effort i could get some spin bit would quit as soon as it touched wood. Sprocket will spin with bar removed but bar and chain attached and its dead. Impressed at first but unable to figure out what went wrong

I just posted the full review for this saw - I have not had any issues with my saw, does the motor spin at what seems like full speed without the chain? one of two problems are possible - motor is damaged, no real fix for that! or the chain and/or bar has a problem that is keeping the chain from moving - I would inspect the spacing on the bar and make sure it has uniform spacing and the chain moves freely in the slot, try it with the chain really loose and really tight and see if there any difference in how it performs - the only other possible problem is the sproket is loose and spinning on it mount - please post an update on any results - thanks for subscribing!

@@snapwholeharborfreightreviews got a replacement from store as it was still within the 90 day return period. Motor was spinning but chain wouldn't so educated guess would be the sprocket but as I don't have unit anymore I cannot verify. Confident enough that I got a replacement and not a refund, hopefully I just got a flawed one and not a design issue. I couldn't find much info online about this model having this issue

My wife gave me the same model Bauer chainsaw last week for Father's Day. It was DEAD, not working out of the box. I took it back to Harbor Freight Tools and was given an exchange. Exact same saw. Got home and hooked it up. This saw was DEAD too. WTF am I doing wrong? It's just an electric saw. Safety switch and a trigger. Has anyone had the same problems with this saw?

These chainsaws (Bauer) are extremely poor quality. Replacing the chain is a nightmare. I will NEVER BUY another power tool from Harbor Freight.
