Staggering considering the base price is nigh on 180k, how so many essential items are classed as ‘extras’, with extortionate price tags. 2k for a bolt on tow bar? £500 for a step? Absolute insanity.
It's typical of high-end German motorhomes, but also increasingly other high-end products. Some car manufacturers ask £10k for "special paint" and look at the cost of carbon accesories on Ferraris, etc.
its not that long ago when bmw and mercedes didnt fit a radio to their vehicles there was a blanking plate there look back at some older mercs nothing on the dashboard but the speedo rev counter hazard warning and fog light switch thats all you got on the dashboard
Much enjoyed the review. As a Carthago owner the only thing I would say is that I disagree with your comments regarding the rear view camera. Ours has the same set up. The camera is an ‘on the go’ camera as well so I always use this as well as the mirrors when driving. If it was on the screen on the dash board I wouldn’t be able to use the sat nav screen at the same time. You soon get used to glancing to the right to view the camera whilst also checking your mirrors, it does work when you get used to it and I wouldn’t want a different system!
This is one of your roomiest RV I love the colour of the wood and lots of cupboards every where , love the bed and the cooker to , a spacious toilet and shower, I wish I could drive and had five million pounds going spare 😂
I think anyone with a quarter of a million quid to spend on a leisure vehicle will be wise enough to know what they're doing. Hardly a swindle when a top spec Range Rover is £140k before options and the new Ferrari SUV is £400k!
Quality review as usual Peter, top man, you know the game so well. Not saying the van isnt worth it , but price is way out of my league. Dont expect to see many on the Uk roads.
I have never seen a lounge as good as this anywhere on any motorhome or rv the two rear facers make it really sociable this is all the motorhome you would ever need just need to get the jackpot to be able to buy it now id live in it fulltime and never go back to bricks and mortar the only fault if im nitpicking is the fact you cant fully move the table at the rear out of the way a seperate standalone folding one would have been a better option
I think If I was going to spend £2670 on a TV - I WOULDNT WANT THE &*(*&^ CUSIHION COVERING PART OF IT !!!!!!!!!! Also the mirror near the toilet gives us a great view of the bog brush - it looks like you've got two !! How posh !
Yes, the Supersonic is stunning in its interior design. Have you seen our review? ua-cam.com/video/5X-di-oKIFQ/v-deo.html But no RWD option on the Adria and no double floor storage. Would love to see a Supersonic with this rear lounge layout!
@@MotorhomeCampervan I agree about the rear lounge with a drop down bed and more under floor storage. Also when will these big beasts get 4 wheel drive for those soggy winters?
Very nice, agree with you |Peter re the lounge table Peter and love the dash. also like the way the cab disappears. We ran an Iveco when they first came in to the country in the late 80's and it was awful, I'm sure they have come along way now. Cheers K.
Thanks for another excellent review Peter. I saw this van at the motorhome show recently but I'd already been in the Supersonic by then and had fallen in love with that. This is the perfect rear lounge for me but that price tag is not realistic when compared to the Supersonic. I couldn't see if there was any ventilation with the drop down bed? EDIT: I just bought my first ever issue of MMM yesterday, mostly to read your review of the Supersonic. Did I mention I love the Supersonic, 😄
Absolutely stunning, you've got to really really like motorhoming to pay that sort of money though in my opinion, I would be frightened to death driving it
Hope you enjoyed the review. Maybe look at smaller Carthagos, or Frankia - the Platin has a lot more spec as standard. See - ua-cam.com/video/qEGtADrhG_M/v-deo.html
Well, you are living in a smaller space, so there are compromises, but some models put the kitchen as a higher priority than others. It's a matter of finding what suits - we've tested all types/sizes/brands, so keep watching the channel!
Rather than knock it on price, it’s something I’d like to aspire to. We’ve a Little Britain mentality with if I can’t afford it why should you have one. Are weight restrictions less onerous than our C1 entitlement on the continent ( Europe)?
Read down through all the comments, obviously I am not the target audience when it comes to price, perhaps for most people here. Age and time left has alot to do with a purchase of a motorhome for me , my next bday is 60 , i am not financially rich , just wanting value for money is my driver and buying the best I can afford. The adria or Burstner a class 2nd hand are my most aspirational van with my budget. The other thing that I often wonder is if you have alot of money to buy a motorhome of this value, would this person be interested in cooking their own meals , and emptying a toilet........ Perhaps I need to get out more. I just wonder who buys motorhomes after a certain point. I understand it when it comes to motorsport teams . I wonder what a damaged repairable van would go for. I might manage that, anyway I still enjoy seeing top end vans and the neat design features they come up with. I liked the slideout in the kitchen ,,,,,,,,, clever thinking.
Have you watched our Düsseldorf video? ua-cam.com/video/KUOt4LoHO3U/v-deo.html You'd be amazed at the scale of the market for motorhomes that are much more expensive than this! Hope you can find a nice used A-class!
Dusseldorf certainly an interesting show. I was lucky to find a Autotrail 2022 , GF 80, based on MMM review .Hadnt seen one till I went to pick it up. My trust was totally in your review of the GF 88. So far no disappointment, couple of niggles that I put right myself. All vans I believe have little things that need attention to start with. @@MotorhomeCampervan
I'm looking at one of these at the weekend and I'm pretty much sold on this model with a few extras. I'm single with two small dogs and this layout is perfect me. I have been very careful with my money and I prefer cooking at home as eating out is expensive. I also empty my own bins and grey/black waste.
Southdowns motorhomes have a used 2020 model with more extras than this one and only 622 miles on the clock for £200,000; or a 2021 Fiat tag axle version , 5000 miles for a bargain £190,000. Bonkers.
No electric front blind! so you can't bring the blind down whilst driving. Essential switches on the passenger side, such a sloppy conversion. Also all of these vans skimp on the driver side comfort. The driver has the tiny manual window, the passenger gets the electric window. Shame that such a premium motorhome is skimped on.
My Concorde has everything on the right hand drive, and the same large windows for both passenger and driver. The windows I understand are more complicated, but sure blanking off the switches and running extra wire to the driver's side? Pennies on a van of this price. It is the main thing that puts me off of this manufacturer.
@@MotorhomeCampervanwell, I bought an Iveco one , only had it a week. I have an elderly relative who travels with us, so I needed a nice lounge that would make into a low level bed. Still not happy about not having any motorised sunblind. If they had pushed it to 9 meters, the kitchen area could've been a bit bigger. I will say it drives lovely, I bought a pre-owned one and got it for a good price.
Very James Bondesque, if I had the money I’d have it in a heart beat, great review Peter

Superb review.

Love the van, best layout I have seen. Also love the constructive criticism, how else are manufacturers going to know if they have made errors?
Thank you for your comments. Always try to show the good and bad in every 'van - but some makers aren't so keen on me showing the negatives!

That starting price is outrageous… and all the extras for even more, feels like an epic swindle on vulnerable, older, rich folk.

Sorry, for a moment there I thought you said it starts at £172k.
Yes, but even mainstream van-based motorhomes are £80k now.
@@MotorhomeCampervan Oh I know, but the on the road price of that van puts it in RC motorhomes territory.
Carthago laughing all the way to the bank. For 172 bags of gold I would expect all of the options included.

It's actually very easy to drive. Not as wide as some, good visibility and mirrors, and (as an A-class) same width all the way along the sides.
Love your videos - for the money there’s vans look so old the wood colour is just horrible
Thank you.
I suppose things like wood colour are very personal. I quite liked the very white interior of the Wingamm but lots of viewers hated it!

I bet the dealer would modify it for you if you wanted to spend £240k...
Beautiful Motorhome but an obscene amount of money on “extras”
That's the German way, I'm afraid. The base price is just a starting point. Same applies to top-end cars now, though.
