    They no longer make the element I need and have sent me a substitution. The part that the wires connect to is different from the one I am replacing. I’ve attempted to attached them to what I THINK is the corresponding post. The light on the stove top indicating that a burner is on lights up, but the burner doesn’t heat. In such a case, how can I tell which wires go where?

      I replaced the wires in the same config as the old and then I also saw the Element On lit up after plugging back in. Then I noticed the 2a and 1b pins were in different locations with the new burner. I also had to spin the element since the wires were shorter due to moving them.
