this is actually my biggest takeaway from the video lol. which is interesting b/c I love kimberly and had fun playing her, but I don't care for sf6 that much tbh, respectfully~
All of Ace's non command normals are the same as most of the Arika characters if I'm not mistaken. There weren't any "styles" but the Capcom characters had pretty much all the same normals aside from exceptions like Guile's Sweep or Ryu's jMP
1:54 Actually, that's Sakura's Nekketsu Hadouken. The difference from Ryu's Shinkuu Hadouken is that Nekketsu Hadouken is one hit and knocks the enemy down in one hit.
People talk a lot about the customization, but can we talk about how, even with more flourish to them, the frames of each attack barely changed over the years? Every essential part and move remains roughly equal in execution, barring some differences like the "floatiness" of air movement in the older game...and what differs is largely fluff and cinematics. That takes dedication!
it's b/c street fighter is... resistant to change, mostly. like, that's its ***thing***, for better or worse lol. the biggest exception probably being the alpha series (and the ex series tbh), which is my favorite, but also the least like "mainline" street fighter games, imo. everyone has their favorite versions of these games though, so it's cool. the only *true* street fighter is what we see in front of our fist~
I see SF EX3 I click immediately! ARIKA with the stellar ACE theme music as usual. My favorite SF game and wish it would get a re-release on modern consoles. Great vid man
Saludos!
“Mom, can I make a custom character?” “You don’t need that, there’s already a custom character for you at Grandpa’s house.” The custom character at Grandpa’s house:
I do wonder if Ace from EX3 was specifically an inspiration to the dev team. A custom character is def something they could come to independently of that, but the Avatar seems like such a great expansion of the concept (Outside of not having moves from, non SF characters. I really hope they add something like that later down the line)
I remember spending a summer playing the character edit mode. I wanted to unlock all the moves and beat all the challenges. Ace though very obscure had a cool look. And his player 2 color was similar to Batsu and I always playes that color for that reason.
I remember when SFEX3 was a big deal because it was one of the launch titles for PS2. Lots of people bought that game. Thinking that was 24 years ago...wow. Ace's Lv3 The Galaxy had the best damage scaling of any of the meteor combos.
Avatars are so fun and underrated. Hopefully in the future they go further with the idea. Maybe even at some point having multiple avatar slots to allow for offline avatar battles. I doubt it'll happen in SF6 but maybe the next game, fingers crossed🤞
Also, that Shoryuken he was doing was the perfect input, aka EWGF. It launches them straight up for free juggles. Ace needs a 2nd video to showcase all of his stolen moves from other fighting game characters, namely SNK ones. The Akuma double punch thing is actually a reference to Hehachi's Demon Breath.
yeah ace if you count sfex to be canon(sadly it isn't) has the most powerful dragon punch ever since he can get a TOD from jsut a single uppercut as a just frame DP will launch the opponent continously until the char is dead assuming the player has dem EWGF skills
Funniest thing about Ace is how he’s a direct ripoff of a cancelled fighting game character called Haiji (but I believe they had the same character artists)
Are you referring to Daraku Tenshi? That one didn't get cancelled but was released unfinished. Exa Arcadia basically saved and killed the finished release by giving it an arcade exclusive release.
Ace has selection of specials and supers the roster doesn't even have, so you can technically make him as a completely original character, roster wise whereas Avatar wins in terms of cosmetic customization and the ability to pick their base normals, not just specials and supers
Man I would like to know why Guy player one can perform combos which can't be possible in player two ? Why guy in playstation 01 , on player 1 , has combos with qcf klink HK ➠ HP works , but I tried in some arcade versions then don't work ? Do has another version different than psone which this combo works ?
I loved Ace in SFEX3, even if he felt a bit limiting, but having most of those limits remived all these years later feels so damn good. I just hope Capcom gets more creative with Avatars in a big update, perhaps even add some of those mystery moves Ace got from other games (lookin at you "Giga Gladiator")
My biggest disappointment with SF6 is I can't play my avatar in just standard arcade mode. Like why? So what if I'm overpowered. Doesn't equal automatic wins ESPECIALLY on the hardest difficulty.
@@capemron6330 LOL God no. Arika's run on SF ain't bad but compared to Dimps and others, they weren't that good. EX1 was alright but kinda clunky, EX2 was better but doesn't hold a candle to SF4 and SF6 and EX3 is kind of a step down overall compared to the quality and presentation of EX2.

The Warrior of Fight

I love the EX games so much. Thanks for making this!
Ace has nice theme music. Never got to truly appreciate it until now.

Damn that explains why I love world tour mode in sf6. EX3 is one of my favorite street fighter games, right on
It's always good to see SFEX content.
Most underrated fighting game series of all time.
