WeeGee’s love of music was as legendary as his God’s given gift of voice and passion for all he loved. If I live to be 100 years old, I will never understand why Wee Gee Howard left a multi million dollar group at the top of their game. Just can't get it. It's way over my head. Wee Gee did without a doubt made the dramatics into household names. But nobody even remembers that. RIP WEE GEE
+Oran Payne I am right there with you on that thought. The Dramatics with Wee Gee had a great chance to surpass the Stylistics, Spinners, and even the O'Jays for singing groups in the 70's. But you are right in that few people even remember that. This is truly a case of the sum being greater than the parts.
He was a young kid whose ego was completely out of control. He obviously did not have good people around him to give sound advice. Keep in mind that he was only 21 when he recorded those early Dramatics hits. What else can be said, he was an idiot just like David Ruffin, his hero.
Oran Payne ... Basically because they weren't getting a piece of that multi- million dollars. Why work and make money for somebody else? That's called being a SLAVE.
Unfortunately for him, he was forgotten, because L.J. Reynolds came in, and was just as dramatic of a lead singer, and their sound was redefined, in the opinion of many, for the better.
Melyssa Sava Did ur dad sing lead on Hey You Get off My Mountain? He was incredible! The Soul Train performance of Watcha See is Watcha Get is absolutely classic. They all looked like they were having so much fun!
"Hey You Get off My Mountain" came out in 1973 from the Dramatics 2nd album. WeeGee Howard had quit the group after their first album. L.J. Reynolds sung lead on that song.
BEAUTIFUL VOICES and SONGS ABOUT LOVE. Today's music doesn't have STAYING POWER. ISAAC HAYES told me about STAYING POWER OF SONGS in person at a record shop here in MEMPHIS.
Was that your dad. He was so handsome. That soul Train video with him in the red suit he was 21yrs old, was he not, I watched him 100 times. You can say I'm nuts about him. Was shocked to hear he passed so young.
Wee Gee's voice was a Blessing to Humanity's ears! There has never been an equal to the Dramatics "ONE & ONLY" truly lead voice. This man always left part of himself in these beautiful songs! Be at Peace! You are now gracing the halls of Heaven with your songs.
Wee Gee, you have a beautiful voice and you lead the Dramatics along with the other Dramatics to greatness with all the wonderful songs that were made. RIP

Aww WeeGee you did what you had to do. I know you don't regret leaving the Dramatics cause you were smart to know they were not paying you. Like all producers and managers always trying to get over their artist's. Especially in the old days. I miss you. I like "whatcha see is whatcha get" and "In the rain". Your voice was soulful you had a Al green look with a David ruffin voice. And hey if you didn't go solo and that other guy El didn't leave. Then we wouldn't have got the Fine smooth lay back Lenny Mayes or the soulful voice Mr. LJ Reynolds. They made some beautiful song's and outstanding performance's especially on Soultrain.
