Bitter, Bitter Sweet, my very significant other used to sit outside my house, with this playing on his 8 track player, when we'd had an silly little argument, my mom and dad would be laughing so hard, and ask me what I'd done to that boy, sometimes I'd go out, sometimes I wouldn't. Once he even came into the beauty shop, got on his knees at my feet, in front of everyone in the shop that day to say he was sorry, please marry me. Well we got married, had 3 wonderful children together, 2 boys, 1 girl, all mini versions of him, I named the 1st boy after him, he became BCB III, 2nd boy a BCB, and then our daughter BCB. Sadly though on February 7, 2000, I lost my sweet BCB. Thankfully I still have my not so little 3 BCBs though, I am thankful for the years we had together. Thank You for this video. I truly appreciate it.
This is such a soulful, well planned, well thought out and well written song. The music is magical. The girl realised that she made the biggest mistake in her life when she chased her boyfriend out of her life. She regretted it bitterly for she realised that she still loved him. Then came their meeting by chance. and they just stood there looking at each other. She expressed remorse and accepted him right back into her life
Didn't realize that this was the Three Degrees until today March 20 2024. I was 5 years old when this song was a Huge !!! Huge!!! Hit !! All of these years later at the age of 59 , im just realizing that the version of this song that I've loved the most is right here. At 67 I'm just realizing the same also. I remember loving this song from the radio. Never knew who sang it. This came out before "when will I see you again".
Yes, this is soul, real black soul, these black sisters were so gifted. The lead singer pulled some damn notes in here only a black woman can sing. You have to be black to be a real soul singer. Blacks are blessed to be born with real soul, often imitated but never replicated. Sing it, my black sister.
In fact only the African Americans with their spiritual gospel tradition, but that's what you meant. Elvis was also a soul man, because he grew up in the gospel church

I’ve been searching for this specific song for years and years. It’s been brewing in my head since I was a kid. Thank you so much for uploading this classic and soulful song that my mother used to play.
She killed this song!! Her voice is very unique, strong, but soft. Excellent job!! This was like a video before videos came out, about 7 or 8 years early!!😀
Dope!!! Late 1960s through the mid 1970s soul couldn’t be topped!!! Whether if was Philly Soul, The Motown Sound, Memphis/Stax or Chicago Soul I wish I had a time machine!!!!!!
These beautiful, black, talented sisters, were a joy to listen to. Damn this sister blows this song right out of the water. What a hell of a voice! In fact they all had great voices, but this song was a definite soul knock out. Still enjoying this in 2019.
SOULFUL. This is music that touches my soul. Those were the days when sisters had pure love in their hearts. It's not until you listen to the break-up crap that women sing today, is when you can truly appreciate the soul that black women of the 70's possessed. Damn. I feel like we let a generation of Beautiful Black women slip right through our fingers.

I love this video she starts out so smooth with the speaking parts the goes right into belting her heart out accompanied with those harmonies. Good stuff.
Fayette Pinkney, Sheila Ferguson, and Valerie Holiday were one of my favorite groups. I was very young but my older cousins would play music that I really got into. I remember The Three Degrees singing "Collage" it just let me have it! I miss their style -

The lead singer reminds me so much of my little sister Therese Cotton, who is also a powerhouse singer!!! Great stuff from one of the eras of real music!!! Thanx for the post.
mrstep2me I have to disagree. Fergenson joined in 1966, replacing Helen Scott, who was the lead-singer. Valerie joined in 1967, replacing Jenet Harmon. If you listen to singing on both "Maybe" and "When Will I See You Again", you'll recognize that it is the same person, and there is NO DOUBT Sheila sang lead on "When Will I See You Again".

AND, they were LADIES who 'curtsied' at the end! Looking like Gorgeous Black Queens and not Hookers.....they were a Class Act....

Valerie Holliday is FANTASTIC! She's got the looks to match her voice as well.
