    If only one game in the trilogy were to get a remaster, it was always going to be Prime 1. But good god, I need Prime 2 remastered. It's my favorite game ever and I NEED to see scary purple world and it's shadow abomination denizens in HD.

      Although I loved 1 and 3 when as kid, prime 2 was the only one I couldn't not finish, I didn't even go very far.
      It was too hard both in terms of boss fight and finding where you're supposed to go.

    Modern lighting I think is like half the reason you want a remaster for an old game. Back in the game cube, more or less the only way they had to create a dark room is to color everything with darker colors. Which in the case of dark aether it just makes you think the whole place is purple gray and black, when in reality I think it is supposed to be a more darker shadowey version of the original. I would really like to see a dark aether that is actually dark, a dark scary place with just a few lights to guide you.
    It should feel like a corrupted dark version of aether, not just the purple and gray version.

      @LilacMonarch Рік тому +2

      Seriously, new lighting could allow for a much bigger color palette. The purples and grays would still be there, sure, but the added detail it would allow would make it feel completely different. MP2 doesn't have the same significance in terms of what it did, but purely from an improvement standpoint I think a remaster of it would do way more than for 1.

Other than that bomb guardian boss being a pain in the ass (because I was like 10 and also didn’t realize there was an energy tank you could get before the fight) I have no real memories of frustration with Echoes. MP2 offered iterative improvements in everything else though. Considering how unprecedentant MP1 was, no game even remotely similar to it when it released, just sets it apart. There was an interview with one of the developers of Echoes, where he basically said:
    1) They couldn't think of varied designs for Dark Aether, so they had to settle with pretty much making each dark world room a purple version of a light world room.
    2) The "Ing Hive" area (the Dark Aether version of the "Sanctuary Fortress" area) was the only exception to this. It's the only area where the light and dark versions actually look more distinct than the rest.
    3) The multiplayer was a mistake.
    4) The Boost Guardian was considered too easy to they buffed it. Ironic, considering they nerfed it for the Trilogy version.
    5) Retro realized Echoes was pretty hard so they made sure Corruption was much easier.
    Other trivia I've heard from various You Tubers:
    - The devs actually couldn't beat Echoes without turning on god mode
    - It was Kensuke Tanabe who insisted that Corruption has Hypermode (the invincibility mechanic, not the difficulty setting), something Retro really didn't want to do but were forced.
    - Retro Studios were terrified that Prime 1 would be considered too short of a game, especially by Nintendo of Japan, so Retro designed a lot of elements to slow down the pace of gameplay: various enemies and many of the bosses that can't be damaged most of the time, making the player wait for an opening (Hive Mecha, Incinerator Drone, Flaagrah, Omega Pirate, Mecha Ridley) the Chozo Artifacts, obviously (which were added late in development).
    The Prime games are the only Metroid games where the endings aren't dependent on how fast you beat the game. Retro also patched some sequence-breaks (along with gamebreaking bugs) in later revisions of Prime 1.

  • @kagancox3210
    @kagancox3210 Рік тому +25

    Yes. The game deserves a remaster. 1-1 just like prime. Don't change anything fundamental. The sky temple keys are obvious if you find the keybearer lore. It'll tell you the room, you just need the visor to get it. By the time you're on the hunt for the sky temple keys you already have the light suit. Which means you take 0 damage from the atmosphere or the toxic water. I also consider it a necessary victory lap to allow you to appreciate the light suit and being absolutely overpowered by that point in the game. Gives you the opportunity to snag the last few upgrades that you're going for while being an absolute badass by that point. Basically you have one last chance to make Dark Aether your bitch. 🤷‍♂️
    Edit: I find it interesting that you enjoy the pacing of MP1 over MP2, where I feel as the pacing was much better in Echoes since the game world itself was much more streamlined. The whole world was one big ring, and you could go through the center at any time if you needed to get to the other side. Whereas MP1 the game world was kind of random. It does feel more "natural" in a sense I suppose but I feel as if the ring design of MP2 alleviates a lot of the issues that people had with 1.

    • @crywolfplays
      @crywolfplays  Рік тому +7

      I can understand all these perspectives, I think the idea of Echoes being a streamlined ring design is really interesting. I definitely appreciated that they added some level of fast travel with the light suit and I think overall the ring design works pretty well. However, I think there are a couple trips that force you to always go through the temple grounds - for example a couple of the biomes you can't go between directly, you have to go through the template grounds first. This creates an "extra zone" trip, similar to the magmoor caverns in MP 1, which were basically just a subway between different zones, since its the only zone in the game with an elevator to every other zone. To me this was kind of logical in MP 1 - it's like the underground of the planet was hollowed out to create shortcuts between the regions, and then some of those regions also connect to one another directly if they're adjacent. The temple grounds just seem like an above-ground version of this to me, but I like that the temple grounds have much more story significance than the bland magmoor caverns. :)

      @DamonDraven Рік тому +2

      Basically, the MP1 vs MP2 world comparison is very similar to Super vs Fusion: the first has a lot of necessary backtracking, while the second one is a streamlined ring with a final victory lap.

    • @kagancox3210
      @kagancox3210 Рік тому +3

      @CryWolf Plays I think it's all down to a matter of preference. Echoes is in my top 5 games ever played, so I'm pretty biased in my opinions. I feel like the "extra zone" trip is still better in 2 since there's really only three directions that your intended target can be in, as opposed to magmoor where I was constantly opening doors to random save stations and elevators. Or ending up on the complete opposite side of the area I was trying to reach because I can't remember which side of Chozo Ruins is "North" or fucking "South" after I just got done pulling my hair out for several hours in the Phazon Mines 🤣. Now I can either go back down the elevator and March my ass to the other one, or just trudge through it for what feels like the fifth or sixth time now. Since 2 keeps you in your intended zone the whole time you're there except for a few examples like the seeker missile. Plus I don't mind a few curveball being thrown my way, where in Prime 1 every time the "Data Received" popup appeared I audibly groaned cause I already knew the next step was all the way across the map.

    Rather than a remaster, I think it would benefit more from a total remake. Like you said, it was a very ambitious title that didn't quite live up to its full potential. Echoes is in a weird position where I think it's more fun to play than its predecessor, and yet it also has more points that fall short of what they could have been. There are a lot of aspects that could use refinement, or be expanded upon. This might be a bit long, but I'll make a list of issues that I would like to see addressed and how I think they could be resolved.
    - Dark World Color Scheme
    Personally, I loved the aesthetic of the dark world. It's dreary and desolate, almost like they took the isolated atmosphere of the first game and cranked it up to 11. I can see why people had an issue with it though, with there only being red and purple tints the entire time. It might be a good idea to add hints of just one extra color to the dark version of every area. For example, Dark Agon could be purple with some orange clouds/lightning, Dark Torvus could be purple with a green fog, the Ing Hive could mostly stay the same but maybe with some added blue to the red electronics, while the Dark Temple Grounds could remain as is with just purple. This could make the dark world a little more interesting, and give each area a unique atmosphere so it doesn't all feel the same.
    - Boring Dark World / Ing Fights
    Supposedly the Ing are trying to hunt Samus down for the energy module. This can be felt at times when the Ing try to ambush her in the light world by possessing nearby creatures. The problem is, those encounters are all scripted and all in the light world. I never actually got the sense of being hunted while in the dark world, so here are a few improvements for the Ing themselves.
    1. Better AI. The Warrior Ing especially have limited Ai, and can usually only move to a few set locations while you camp in a safe zone. They should be able to coordinate with each other to surround the safe zones from all sides in an attempt to reach you better.
    2. More Ing variety. Throughout the whole game, there are basically only three types of Ing you ever fight; The inglets, warrior ing, and hunter ing. A fairly simple way to fix this would be to introduce elite versions of each type into the game. Elite Inglets could disable safe zones the same way Amorbis does, opening you up to attacks from warrior ings. Elite Warrior Ings could have a similar appearance to the jump/boost guardians, while being a faster, more aggressive version of their lesser counterpart. Elite hunter ing...sounds pretty awful actually so maybe only one or two could appear in the dark temple grounds.
    3. Random encounters.
    As a way to both increase the feeling of being hunted by the ing and to make the dark world more engaging, having random ing spawns in some rooms could be a good way to mix things up. Metroid games have always had set enemy patterns in rooms. Those patterns may change as you progress, but there will always be the same patterns. I think having the number/types of ing in the medium to large size rooms be random would help keep things interesting, especially in the search for the sky temple keys, while also setting itself apart from the rest of the franchise.
    - Backtracking
    Echoes is an extremely linear Metroid game, which makes it very confusing when you suddenly have to backtrack for the seeker missile and power bomb. Personally, I don't mind the backtracking itself, but there should at least be some clues indicating the need to backtrack in the first place. For the seeker missles, since they are located directly under the Luminoth temple, U-Mos could mention them in passing during his dialogue before entering Torvus. Additionally, the only reason you need to backtrack when you do is because of an arbitrary seeker missle door. That door could be moved ahead to before the grapple guardian, allowing you to make more progress before having to leave Torvus if you want to. In the case of the power bombs, one of the temple keys simply needs to be moved. In the power bomb guardian room, change it so that you can enter through the door at the top but then are stuck in a cage where you can scan the power bomb guardian early on. If the temple key above that room is moved into said cage, it would force players to learn about the guardian's existence naturally as they progress.
    - Beam Ammo
    I have no problem with the ammo system in Echoes, but for the sake of the people who do, here's my solution.
    Increase the base ammo cap and the ammo expansion upgrades from 50 to 60. When fully upgraded, your max ammo would be 300 instead of 250. A 20% increase isn't that huge, but it should be just enough to where you won't feel as much pressure to conserve ammo. Also, increase the amount of ammo you collect from pickups by a bit.
    - Beam Combos
    I don't think there's any doubt that the worst part of Echoes is the sun burst. Like, it's shockingly bad. I tried finding a situation in which it's a useful option, but it never was. No matter what enemy I fought, it was always outclassed by just using the light beam regularly. So here are my thoughts. Scrap the dark burst and sun burst entirely. Instead, make two new beam combos that behave more like the wavebuster and flamethrower from prime 1 in that they continuously drain ammo. Now I know that sounds like a terrible idea with the beam ammo system in Echoes, but it could work. Just have them consume a large chunk of beam ammo initially, and then only drain missles. The sun burst could be replaced by some sort of death ray flashlight thing that you shine on the ing to vaporize them. As for the dark burst, well it was actually pretty cool, but I think it would be even cooler if you could form the black hole on the end of your arm cannon instead of shooting it out. Walking around sucking small enemies into your black hole hand and tearing them to pieces sounds too badass to not implement. As for the sonic boom...well, we can keep that one the way it is. Just make it a bit more powerful and give it a wider range.
    There are more things I could discuss, but I'm tired so I'll leave it at that.

    • @crywolfplays
      @crywolfplays  Рік тому +9

      These are great thoughts, thanks for sharing. I pretty much agree with all of them if we are talking a full on remake. I really like your idea of adding one extra color to each dark work area. Those colors could be highlighted with improved lighting. The dark worlds for each area are barely distinguishable from one another and I think thats a bummer when the light versions are so dynamically different. I sort of forgot about the beam combos because I agree - they're completely useless. Some sort of continuous beam of light like you mentioned would be really cool.
      The minimal backtracking does end up confusing because you get used to not backtracking, and if you have the hint system disabled there's almost no way of finding the seeker missiles or power bomb organically. The power bomb key is also really easy to miss.

    Honestly, its a safe bet that Prime 2 remaster and Prime 3 remaster are in the works.
    The only way anyone can get experience in the Prime storyline are old outdated consoles that Nintendo doesn't support anymore, AND/OR using an emulator with potentially not-so-legally-acquired-games (which we know Nintendo doesn't want).
    By Remastering the Prime games before thinking about releasing Metroid Prime 4, it solves both issues mentioned above:
    Newer players get to experience the Prime storyline, while Nintendo gets to make money selling a remastered version of their older games.
    The Metroid game that NEEDS remastered, in my opinion, is Metroid Prime Hunters. A kickass multiplayer experience that pushed the DS to its limits with 3d graphics and online multiplayer? Hell yeah that would (likely) do well on the Switch!
    Either that, or a sequel to Hunters, since we know Sylux will most likely be the main antagonist of Prime 4, so it would be useful to either remaster or sequel-ize the game from which Prime 4's main villian is likely coming from.

    All I want is Prime 2 to get the same treatment as Prime 1.
    Prime 2 was actually my first Metroid ever, so after having played Prime 1 Remastered I'm getting huge nostalgia for Prime 2. If it ends up being a "lesser" remaster like the rumors suggest, I'm going to be super sad.
    I'm hoping if Retro Studios is fully committed to Prime 4 now, that Iron Galaxy is able to take over full responsibility for Prime 2 Remaster and make it the same level as Prime 1. Iron Galaxy also took over Killer Instinct 2013 for season 2 and 3 after the original dev Double Helix got acquired by Amazon (RIP), so I think they'd be up to the task to remastering Prime 2 and 3 since they helped with Prime 1 already.

    Absolutely. It also needs a better lighting system. Prime 1's remaster has a pretty lame lighting system that leaves the game lacking in immersion. Whereas the original, surroundings were lit using particles and beam shots would emit light onto surrounding environments. With the remaster, that's missing and it sucks. There are areas that are left far too dark for it not to illuminate the surroundings.

    Unpopular opinion:
    Metroid Prime 2 was imo the best Metroid game with both Super Metroid and Metroid Prime 1 very close on a 2nd and 3rd place respectively.
    Don't get me wrong, I love this franchise and especially these 3 games can be considered as some of the best games of all time.
    But MP2 did one thing the best of all the Metroid Games: ATMOSPHERE.
    I'm a huge fan of great atmosphere in games and MP2 absolutely nailed it.
    From the creepy "Aliens" like opening with all the dead space marines all the way to the climatic 3rd battle against Dark Samus while the dark dimension was about to collapse.. The atmosphere was of the charts.
    You absolutely dreaded to enter the dark dimension and not only because of the great and creepy atmosphere, but because said atmosphere could actually kill you!
    So it started to invoke the feeling of dread and MP2 at some points almost played and felt like a Sci Fi horror game.
    Truly a stroke of genius by the developers (although some critics and fans hated the dark dimension)
    But every part of it was done to perfection.. The eerie music, extremely though enemies at certain points and the constant danger adding to the horror feel of the game.
    And Light Aether wasn't devoid of great atmosphere either btw.
    Especially Torvus Bog and Sanctuary Fortress were beautiful and extremely wel made designwise.
    Imo its one of the best games ever made and sadly criminally underrated.

      Might be based on early impressions. Prime 1 starts of with a bang where prime 2 is more of a slow opener. Not to mention ammo and dark world before upgrades are brutal. Now that years have passsed everyone has had plenty of time to take both games in for everything they have to offer good and bad. Prime 2 really just keeps getting better the farther you go. It’s prime 1 on steroids with better bosses puzzles and locations and the atmosphere is peak metroid. I love the whole trilogy as each one does offer something a little different but Prime 2 is the game I revisit every year.

    Hard disagree on the pacing. I have some huge problems with Prime 1's pacing. I didn't mind it that much on my first playthrough, but on subsequent playthroughs I really realized how much boring and annoying it is to traverse through the disconnected map with limited elevators. Even when you know where and how to go, you can't cut the backtracking because the areas don't connect perfectly. I never had this issue when replaying Echoes, the game flowed more smoothly than my first playthrough because of how well connected the world is.
    I think all 3 games equally deserve a remaster. They each have their own charm and shouldn't be downplayed by the other two. As fascinating it was seeing Metroid make the first jump to 3D, the sequels are also amazing for a much more challenging game like Echoes, and a very cinematic game like Corruption, and they deserve the love Prime 1 got as well.

    • @thezombiepotato1
      @thezombiepotato1 Рік тому +3

      Uhm...lol what? Prime 1 like immediately gives you shortcuts as soon as you get through those locations. I've started doing speed runs without clipping and it's soooo easy to get through that game with minimum passes, even 100%. Same can't really be said for prime 2, which in general uses ALOT of re-used assets. The repetition is cranked up so much more in that one than in prime 1

    • @ExtremeAce
      @ExtremeAce Рік тому +6

      @@thezombiepotato1 Uh huh yeah tell me where the shortcut from Boost Ball to Space Jump back to Wave Beam is? Where is the shortcut from Spider Ball to Ice Beam to Gravity Suit back to the Frigate? As I said there are shortcuts, but very few and don't cut the backtracking segments by a big margin. You HAVE to cross Magmoor Caverns EVERY time you have to turn around and leave an area. The only one which isn't that bad is after getting Power Bombs as the X-Ray Visor is nearby and after Plasma Beam you can unlock a shortcut to Phazon Mines.
      Meanwhile in Prime 2, first of all you only need to backtrack 2 times, first for Seeker Missiles, which are just 3 rooms away from the Torvus Bog entrance, and second for getting the Power Bombs, which directly unlock an elevator back to Sanctuary Fortress. Again, the first time playing through you are meant to get lost so I don't mind the world design in either games, but on subsequent playthroughs Prime's pacing is a lot worse because you can't cut a lot of backtracking even when you know where you have to go, meanwhile in Prime 2 you realize how efficient your path can be because the world is very properly connected, and you can use portals more optimally.

    • @thezombiepotato1
      @thezombiepotato1 Рік тому

      @ExtremeAce lol those are the best examples of shortcuts man think back on what you said. After chozo you go to magmoore and then phendrana, and instead of having to go back through chozo, they convieniently put an elevator to Tallon right next to where the phendrana elevator is and it spits you out literally right where the boost ball track is to get space jump which immediately let's you access thsi shortcut back OR to go right back to chozo/your ship if you want to explore more with the new things you got. Btw you're looking at magmoor wrong, it's way shorter than you remember. After spider you are at the second elevator to magmoore which rewards you with a free new area and items to access to play around with the new things you got, then quickly sends you to that mid point again from the other side to Tallon which is right next to the chozo elevator and gets you easily back to the ice beam area. From there....lol, it gives you two options of elevators literally next to where you get the ice beam, each of which are two brand new areas, (btw byly using these two elevators next to eachother it totally skips pirate frigate so that even 100% means you only ever have to do that once) one of which sends you back to center of Tallon and let's you see immediately that you need the ice beam, then go to CENTER magmoor which then you sends close to the other phendrana elevator which is literally next to your next location for gravity. You do your one way loop, cut back to the frigate and go do phazon mines. Then you got options after power bombs, back tracking is on you because you can get grapple, xray and plasma out of order. The game then gives you a nice one time final loop with all the base items to get the artifacts and every item you missed.
      I LOVE the non linear map design of prime one because you almost never have to cross the same area more than twice and when you do, it's either from a totally new angle or with equipment that completely changes the interaction of it, making it very fresh each time. The game is designed not as an incline but a ladder, ramping up difficulty until you get an item, then giving breathing room to let you enjoy it before the next area. Prime 2 does not really do that well. The engineering of the map design is meant to connect everything but it's a MUCH bigger game and requires FAR more actual backtracking where you go through exactly where you came from half way into getting your keys to pick up something from a previous location. Think seekers missiles, power bombs, etc, you have to literally back track exactly where you came from to exactly areas you have already been to, deep in each world. Prime 2 also forces you into figure 8 loops, not really giving wiggle room while also inflating play time in each area. It's made worse by the fact that the dark world is mostly repeat assets of the light world so that ALSO is back tracking. How much time did you spend in the portal animation, or elevators, both in cutscenes and in the extra 3 we get from upper sky temple? Not to mention the crazy amount of repeat assets to everything else. Not only is the dark world just reusing the map, but each temple is identical, (that stupid loading trick in the morphaball slot that gets used 6 times in copy and past rooms) each goal of each area is to find 3 keys, the total keys required is EIGHTEEN for the game. I LOVE prime 2 but....
      My point is dude after just doing both 100% and having been a prime 2 fan boy, I have to hand to prime 1 for having WAY less back tracking and when it DOES back track, it's fresh new and exciting. Prime 2 is littered with repetition.

      @@thezombiepotato1 Well I also just did every prime game to 100% and Prime 1 has much more annoying backtracking than either of its sequels. And this time, unlike my last playthroughts a few years ago, I intentionally didn't follow the most efficient route for both games, so for example in prime 1 when I returned in chozo ruins to get the ice beam, I got a bunch of missiles expansions on the way, while for prime 2 I did a detour in agon wastes before entering lower torvus with the seeker missiles. Whichever way I played these games, Prime 1 was just so much worse.

    I think beam ammo should be more common in a remaster, updated visuals would be best too obv, but I wouldn't change the ammo amounts, gameplay, or any of the key hunts personally as it'd be too different from the original game. More plants and non-interactible animals around the areas would be interesting to see, especially if they become more common in the light world and less common in the dark world as the game goes on and the player moves the planetary energy. I would find it interesting to see map changes as this happens, but it would have to either a very small of a change or done very very well if it were to become a big change as it could otherwise be too far from the original game's vision. Prime 3 is very different from the first two though and would probably need some very different treatment, especially to make sure that motion interaction remains true to the original feel.

    I'd love a Prime 2 remaster for selfish reasons, but I understand if Nintendo only gives the first that treatment. It's far more iconic and universally beloved than the other two. I've seen some new players complain about Prime 1's pricklier elements (save points, backtracking, etc.), so I can only imagine what they would say about the sequel.
    At the same time, you can't really "fix" the game's "flaws" without losing what makes it special. The bosses can be difficult and the dark world can be frustrating, but that's kind of the point. Overcoming the hostile environment is what makes Echoes in particular such a satisfyingly experience, and why it's my favourite of the trilogy. Reduced load times for transitioning between worlds would be a clear improvement, but outside of that I struggle to think of ways to streamline the game without taking away its identity.

    Despite your analysis being very interesting, i don't necessarily agree with your view on the utility of remakes or remasters. To me, they're the most useful when they can give a game that missed its potential (either in terms of context, like releasing on an unsuccessful system or in terms of quality when it has a few flaws that could be fixed) a second chance to shine. I don't really see the point of rereleasing a beloved game (in terms of creative interest i mean, the point is obviously easy money from the company's perspective) that everyone already played and is very easily accessible for new generations.
    That's why i believe that Echoes needs a remaster even more so than Prime did for some of the reasons that you mentioned in your video. Though I love Prime Remastered and i believed letting it stuck on a 20 y.o. console (or in very limited physical availability in the case of Trilogy) would have been a mistake. Given the limited success of the GameCube, the game needed a rerelease.
    To give another few examples of what i mean about my vision of ideal rereleases, i would have preferred a single remaster of Mario Sunshine instead of 3D All-stars, since it was the hardest one to play legually and also the one with the the most flaws. I discovered it for the first time on Switch, and really wanted to like it, but i just couldn't because of some minor but crucial details. Twicking these things with a single release would've made me happier, and i would have discovered Galaxy on my old Wii.
    On the other hand, an example of another remaster done right is Skyward Sword HD. The original is not easy to play because it requires a specific accessory to just even work. It also excluded disabled people and veterans of the series who couldn't stand its endless tutorials. They essentially fixed the micro-pacing issues and handholding which were the game's biggest drawbacks, and made it playable for a much wider audience with the stick controls. Even though the graphical aspect isn't the best, the biggest gameplay flaws have been addressed and fixed and it's the only Zelda running at 60fps (which is fitting, considering its heavy focus on precise combat).

      We didnt need any remaster, they cut details in exchange for ruining the original feel and atmosphere, brightening up dark areas and color-ifying everything. Turned Tallon IV into featherweight V.
      Youve been conditioned to be okay with buying the same game multiple times for the same price with marginal, sometimes backwards, "improvements."

      Did you even know the graphics were touched up on the trilogy edition? No, because they didnt need it and it only slightly added to an already amazing game. Now theyve gone overboard pouring "improvements" all over the game and they spoiled the secret sauce that made it special.

    The original game took too much inspiration from the Aliens movie so to me it makes perfect sense prime 2 is dark and confusing, it uses the perfect environment and glues the prime gameplay exploration but improved with new features.
    My only complain with Prime 2 is the lack of a true underwater region filled with sea creatures and cave networks I know torvus bog has that role but still is too swallow and you are always inside an facility not really a lake or ocean.

    I can't help but disagree that Prime 1's pacing is perfect and or a perfect game. It's actually pretty egregious in the backtracking, crossing biome to biome to get one power-up and going back through the same boring highway that is Magmoor Caverns. It starts with Boost Ball to Double Jump, then Ice Beam to Gravity Suit, and then Power-Bomb to X-Ray. It's overwhelmingly fatiguing and obliterates the pacing. It doesn't help that the elevator system is so archaic and disconnected that it really destroys a lot of the cohesion. Not being able to go to Phendrana to literally anywhere but Magmoor is a terrible design choice. Not to mention that you can't get to Phazon from Chozo or Phendrana, the endgame artifact hunt, and just the world cohesion suffers so much from this. There's also an inconsistency in bosses, from Flaaghra on the bosses are seen very infrequently. You go so long without encountering one when you think you should be.
    I honestly leave Prime 1 more fatigued than happy of anything, it's still a good game but it feel more and more like a chore going back to it

    I think that changing the keys at the end would be too far as you don't get either new visor until late in the game anyways so it may be too difficult to tweak it in a kosher manner. As far as beams go, it would likely also be too much to change the ammo amounts or add in new expansions as they weren't willing to do similarly in the first game, but increasing ammo availability would be possible either by making pickups restore more ammo or by simply making pickups spawn more prevalently.

    To me, the expectation of playing Prime 2 was that you had played Prime 1. I enjoy both games, but I particularly appreciated the difficulty spike in Prime 2.

    I have to disagree with you I think Prime 2 needs the remaster more the texture work is the weakest part of the game the rest of it is definitely better than Prime 1 it doesn't need to be fixed.

    I would love to see the phazon all have a consistent appearance. The phazon in Prime 2 was drastically different from Prime 1, and that always bugged me because the phazon in Prime 1 was much, MUCH better. Likewise, there's a lot in Echoes that needs work:
    Enemy AI is shit, Hunter Ing will just fly into light charged crystals, not even charged by Annihilator Beam, just Light Beam. Darklings kill themselves more than I kill them which seems to be a flaw with AI to not detect light charged crystals/beacons; their movement should automatically detect light crystals as No Fly Zones for lack of better terminology
    Restore Boost Guardian to his former glory. The boost guardian in the Trilogy version is piss easy, I remember spending hours on this boss, challenging him again and again on the gamecube only to completely trump and trounce him in the Trilogy version, and that is without taking the four golden hand outs that come from the pillars he destroys. I will not be handed victory, I will earn it. Likewise, they need to reduce the amount of "gifts" a player can get. If I get to low health, I do not want to find an enemy just conveniently drop a golden orb. That's not fun, if I get hit too much, I deserve to restart from the last save point.
    More Darkworld Exploration. Prime 2 isn't just in need of a remaster, it needs a rebuild. The Dark World was heavily limited by time and hardware, a fully explorable dark aether would be amazing, more Ing enemies, more everything. It would be astounding to be able to search the Dark World for the final Sky Temple keys and not even need to take a portal to the light world; that would make the endgame search new and exciting.

    Dark Aether would definitely need a makeover. Maybe have the red sky harshly burn down on the environment like a twisted version of the light energy. Then, when you take away the energy from Dark Aether, it could look more lifeless. The dark water could be emissive and glowing, or maybe go the other way and have it be translucent rather than completely opaque. For textures themselves, maybe have the rocks of Dark Agon have strange crystals and ores visible inside them, or spiderwebbed cracks and faults going through all the structures. For Dark Torvus, aside from the water I already mentioned, maybe have the trees look dead and withered rather than just purple. Maybe have visible parasites eating away at them, or unusual algae-like substances clinging to them. The trees that were copied from the Light World should suffer in the Dark World, not just look stained. As for Dark Sanctuary Fortress... it'd really depend on what changes they make to the Light World first. This one could be simpler with all the fancy lights and whatnot being a different color, but they could also add rust and other signs of disrepair into the structures. You could go from seeing a machine being shiny and polished in the Light World, to the same machine looking rusted and barely functional, smoke seeping out from its internals as the Ing continue to overwork it without care. The Luminoth see their machinery as a source of pride and achievement, the Ing can see them as nothing more than tools to wipe out the Luminoth with. To further add visual interest to Dark Aether as a whole, maybe add Ing writing on various objects/walls/floors/etc. almost like graffiti. They could give it a slight glow or something to add visual interest, similar to the Huragok writing in VISR mode in Halo 3 ODST.
    For the plethora of keys you have to obtain, there could be an option added to the settings to enable markers for them after you find the corresponding clue, and/or the delayed hint system used for regular powerups. Prime 3 had optional dots placed on the map for item collection with the Skytown probes, you could implement a similar system so that it wouldn't interfere with the ? mark highlights used for story progression hints.
    Accelerated transitions between Light and Dark Aether are a must. It would be cool if they could keep the first person HUD active during the transition and play a short animation under the HUD to keep the transition in first-person and less jarring and immersion breaking.
