- I just made this quick walk-through review of the Fishman Fluence KSE set...
some random noodling and my semi-informed opinion about all the voices and sounds of the set.
check it out
Thank you! Finally A video with the just the isolated guitar tones, and some nice clean tones, great demo/review keep up the good work
Best demo of these out right now! Nice job.
I love that it took over 10 min to get through all of the tonal options before you could even get to the metal - that's s lot of pickup, and you adjusted playing styles to show each mode off very well. Thanks!
ErroneousTheory wow, thanks for the kind feedback!
These sound phenominal. I'm interested in these, the DT or Tosin, glad you did this review, very comprehensive. Thanks.
This is awesome! I’m really considering dropping these in my SG Special. Voice 2 is so killer!!
Great video man! Love these pick ups. You can really shred too!
Excellent and in depth review . Much appreciated.
Thanks!
Wanting these or the Willie Adler set. Aiming more towards these.
Thanks for the review.

That part sold me.
Thanks for doing this demo man
Lasse.....you are a seriously great player. Good pickups doesn't hurt-I'll get me some Fishman Fluence later on-but you really play great.
Duuude, thanks so much for those kind words!
Lasse Lammert Anytime, dude...anytime.
Hi man great video.I keep coming back to this video as I’m debating about getting these pick ups I already have a set of the moderns and classics.
Would you recommend these Fishman next for me and ?.Thanks man
Thanks for doing this, it's great. But what i'm really trying to find is how the switches work with the Fluence, if you could have shown exactly how you were switching between sounds this would be perfect. i'm sure there's a video somewhere. Thanks again
versatile set,
don't mind how it complement's the tight low end of your tone either \m/
Thanks for sharing ! I also have theses pickups but they are very noisy even in crunch mode and goes to larsen effect very quickly , do you have any issue with that ?
That's weird. My set was pretty much dead quiet
This one is gonna need at least a vs 85.. if not also vs 81 and 57 as well...
Is there anything unique about installing these pickups? I was going to buy a used ESP LTD that already had active pickups with a push/pull coil split/5 way switch and swap them out. Are batteries a problem for these? 110 hours seems low to me (passive player). Would the Fishman rechargeable battery make sense to get? its around $100. Thanks.
hurttster they're plug and play with regular emgs, even the same cable, just the voice switch will need an extra cable, but you could probably just use the existing Push pull, might have to just change that one wire.
But I'm not sure since I've never seeen or installed cool split emgs.
But it shouldn't be very difficult to switch from emgs to fishman, same pots and jack etc
Big thanks. I am now considering putting the KSE bridge into an Ibanez Iron Label Baritone for Drop A Impending Doom/Nile music. I wanted to make sure my local guitar tech wasn't going to have to remake all of the electronics unique to Fishman. Thanks once again.
12:22 the passive sound has more bass??? Then these must be way different than the regular fluence moderns I bought 2 years ago... the passive sound to me was like a HPF!!! Wtf? Can someone explain lol I thought this “KsE” set was just the moderns (ie: 81 and 85 bought separately are the same as the “Zakk Wylde set”)
snapascrew you might have wired them incorrectly, with the moderns the v2 (passive) has definitely less bass cut than active v1
Hi, I also have this set, I find that the ceramic Bridge is very noisy compared to an emg 85, did you also notice a difference?
I haven’t compared them directly, but I never encountered any noise that bothered me
Hey. How do you have it set up as far as voice 3 goes? If it’s a single push pull how do you get to voice 3, a second push pull pot?
There's an 1).active 2).passive push pull pot(Volume knob) and then there's a 3).coil tap push pull pot(Tone knob). That's probably what they mean by 3 voicing. I honestly don't know i'm just assuming that's how it works.
Tosin set vs these?
hallo Lasse was hälst du von den fischman modern klingen die besser als die sterilen emg81
Sounds nice, how much are these?
hey killer video bro, so which do you prefer the fishman fluence kse set or the original fluence modern? which one has more thump?
thanks bro
also want to hear a comparison between these and the modern ceramics
I hear that they're pretty much the same but less gain to make them more clear in high gain settings.
Better Clean than the Modern or D. Townsend...? I know DT (Townsend model) are very very Clean- Fender-ish type, but they are a little darker than the Modern’s...- Is there anything that you don’t like about KSE, or you’d like some improvement for future...?
Hard to wire them following the diagram...?
The only thing I don’t like about them (or fluence in General) is that s-line engraved on them...but that’s just cosmetics.
There are really really awesome pickups imo, I honestly can’t think about a possible improvement
Have you tried the Devin Townsend model? Can't decide between those and the kse set...
Not yet, no
Great video, I just ordered the KSE set for my Dustie waring signature PRS. This vid. covinced me. The original pups were a bit meh. I also ordered the Stephen Carpenter fishmans for my Esp Stephen Carpenter sig.
The carpenter pickups are boomy and awful. The latest revision of the moderns are so much better.
How do you know this?
Marcos Farias my guess is Arnold's vid, showing how awful those actually are
Willtato I’ve got the 6 string version since and I like them. Maybe the moderns are better.
What brand and size strings are you using? You just earned a sub here killer sound!
Thanks mate!
Always daddario, preferably NYXL.
Gauge depends on scale and tuning
Awesome!!!
What is your take on these VS the Devin Townsend set? i imagine it's like comparing apples to oranges, but humor me if you will.
Guitars77 never tried the Townsend, Sorry
So do you like this set better than the Modern or Adler set...? Which one is your favorite set and why...? Thanks
Yes, the kse set is probably my favourite, very versatile and tight af for modern tones
can't decide between these and the Will Adler set.
When coil taping did you have to use two push pull pots?
Daniel Crane if you don't want to mod the guitar for s switch, it comes with the ability to do Kse's wiring scheme. The volume push pull selects the voicing, and the tone push pull splits the coils. The selector works like a normal selector (bridge middle neck hum, then fender single coil switching)
9:27 totally agree
dude u sound better when you play clean then u do most of your chunky playing your getting alot better
Is there any headaches or difficulties with installing them. I have an ibanez LoZ active pickups and want a better set.
MobileGamingReviews not any more than with any other pickup IME
Lasse Lammert do you think they worth spending 260 for? Would it make a enough of a differnce to be justified?
MobileGamingReviews absolutely!
MobileGamingReviews yes they are that fucking amazing and versatile. they are so inspiring
Is your MP-1 for sale?
How are tou able to use all three voices with jsut a three way switch and two pots?
Kyrell Jenkins both pots are push-pull.
Im using the volume to switch between voices 1/2 and the tone to split
That's how KSE have it wired. The volume knob is the voicing switch, the tone is the split, and the selector chooses the split config. It's incredibly versatile and they include everything you need except the pickup selector
Do you have the high frequency tilt grounded [engaged] or capped off [not engaged]?
Not engaged.
I only have the pad engaged at all times
@@LasseLammert So that's voice 2?
Secret Story no, the fishman pickups have two switchable voices
@@LasseLammert Yes, in the video you use voice 2?
Secret Story it’s a walk-through, I’m using both voices (as the title says). It’s says in the video whatever voice and setting I’m using at that time
Fishman or black winter in bridge? I'm on the fence about it
Fishman!!!
Is that a Stout up by your 5150?
Question did the pups come with a push pull pot
Yes
That 5150...Smokin Tone...
It's the Axe Fx:)
I think this is your longest video ever LOL
What kinda axe FX patch are u running?
When Lasse Lammert says to get something guitar related, just do it!
Man.. this video cracks me up. I came for metal and all I got was Lasse in grandpa mode playing the blues with reverb for the first 10 minutes. It felt kind of like getting Rick Rolled.
Are you in drop d ?
you answered it in the video thanks
You only need to know two modes on guitar.. Hetfield and Yngwie.
Youuu taaalk to muuuuuch !!!
Too bassy in my opinion. I like the EMGs, especially the 57/67 and the retro actives fat 55 and super fat 77 better.
They may have little less outputt, but not that bassy, more midfocused.
The only Ric-James the fishmans are actually less bassy than the 57 and 55.
Especially the KSE set, those are even tighter than the 81
"more dynamic" plays yet I heard absolutely no dynamics. just a different emg imo.
It literally sounds like a better EMG 81.
I’ve owned several guitars with 81s in the bridge, 85s in the bridge, and now fishmans and they are not even close to being the same lmfao.
come on, you demoed everything else. Just for the sake of making watching the length of your video worthwhile you should have demoed voice 1 without all that dirt. I have the classic set in my Les Paul and the modern Fluence in my Schecter A-6 and am not convinced they are installed properly because there is no significant difference when you pull out the tone switch to get voice 2. I also have the Greg Koch Gristle Tone Fluence set on a G&L ASAT Classic but that delivers a dramatic difference when you press the voicing button. I don't play metal at all and am here (on UA-cam) to see if anyone is showing what the Classic and Modern voicings sound like (un-camouflaged by gain and distortion) Thanks anyway.
