Great Job Aaron, it is amazing how nice the boot looks with a new leather sole and black rubber. I realliy dislike the sole that comes with the Iron Ranger. If I ever get a set of these red wings, I will have you change the sole.
Buenas noches AG.
Aaron another awesome job. You have really help me to appreciate the iron rangers and how just the change of the sole could change the look. Keep up the good work my friend.
Looking great, but mine are the most uncomfortable boot I have ever had. Switched to 1000 Mile and Irish Setter. Best place for I.R.'s is the dumpster.
I think what I’d say looks different between a new welt and keeping the same welt, is that the new welts typically look a bit thicker and a bit wider after shaping the sole during the recraft. Either way, great work Aaron, and greetings from Las Vegas! Hopefully someday I can bring in a pair of my boots to get worked on!
hi Aaron, another great job on those I.R. 4606’s man i have a pair. i would love to have you do mine just like that. i hope you are doing good. from Kevin
hi my friend Aaron, wow i really like the job you did on those 4606’s. i have a pair of them and now that i seen how nice they can look. i’m very tempted to have you do my 4606 I.R. just like that wow!!! amazing as always thank you for sharing. --Kevin
Yeah Half sole and leather midsole makes them almost perfect. I think some of the blacksmiths and Beckmans used to come stock with a similar sole that Redwing calls the roscia sole. The trade off is its heavier, and taller so a little less stable/planted feeling under foot. I think it’s a good middle ground. There’s such a thing as too much of a good thing - Whites standard midsole is basically already two layers, but they will do a “double” midsole which is like 4 layers of leather midsole. Lots of guys who got that said it was was too heavy, and too stiff. Even though in theory it would be great to stand on once the leather took shape
Looks great, when my iron rangers need done I'll probably send them to you. I've been happy with the mini lug but always thought it should have a midsole. Great work.
Nicely done. I like the looks of the new leather mid-sole under the cork. It just seems to give the IR a bit more heft. I wonder what it does for walking comfort?
So glad you mentioned that welt. I bought a pair of iron rangers just to have them resoled by you. I think the difference is that keeping the welt, it looks thinner? I actually like the look of the replaced welt.
Have you ever done any work on Oakstreet Bootmakers trench boots? I have one and couldn't believe they had some bullshit fiber board and no cork or leather?! I was pissed to find out after paying 500 for these...would you have a recommendation if i should add cork or leather?
Is there more longevity in these than the Vibram mini lug soles? I also love the image of your latest video. It really expresses your frustration with the constant bombardment of the same question.
Yes it is, the grip on this Dr.Sole is superior! Than that Mini Lug. I’m not frustrated but some people just don’t understand that, costumers get what they pay for!
More grip on the outsole usually means they use a softer rubber, which makes longevity less. Neither is necessarily right or wrong, just different goals for different soles.. 😎
@@samlind8676 thank you. I'm just looking for the most life and traction for my dollar when I go to get my mini lug Iron Rangers rebuilt. I want to keep the profile similar to stock. Maybe add a mid sole. There are just too many damn options (and videos) and I'm very indecisive!😵😵😵😵

The half sole look on rangers is classy AF. Does the addition of the leather mid sole add to the over all comfort of the boot?
Yes it does, it makes the whole difference

What did they do to you in Texas, first video back back and you're keeping welts on?? Great work they look incredible!!!!

Is the answer the fact that you didn't have to add your special cork pad and shank upgrade? Or maybe not. 😂 Tienes skills bro!!! Great job!

You mostly do storm welts on most your boot resoles .it looks better and sturdier with the storm welt.
Aaron, re: your welt Question on the 4606’s, if i didn’t know better i would
say you changed the welt how did
you do that?
--Kevin
I didn’t replace it, I kept it
I watch other cobblers and many keep the welt if it is intact.
👍
