I could listen to Ian Richardson reading the telephone directory.
I've heard a lot of great actors, like Branagh, narrate documentaries. But Ian Richardson's voice is the clearest and most melodious of all !
4:38 - Richardson takes off his hat to enter a ruined chapel. They don't make 'em like that any more!
Yes this breed is almost dead . And what is left of Britain today ? British identify swifty being replaced/ destroyed by multicultural evil . We from other nations feel sad to see this beautiful society and rest of Europe slowly dying and being replaced.
What an absolute gent. A fascinating and good humoured man from another age.
thank you so much he was a great actor very nice man i heard in real life sadly he passed but he will be remebered as a great actor for me R.I.P Mr Richardson
This captures so beautifully the mellow sadness that so often accompanies visits to haunts of one's youth. Interesting he was unable to recapture his Scottish accent.
You can never go home again. It’s become cliche, but for a good reason
That VOICE! Thank you so much for posting this, I am a big admirer of Ian's. It's nice to see not only the land of his youth, but also to hear him speak about his feelings regarding those years.
I went to school near Edinburgh and still have a strong fondness for it, thank you for posting this
This was lovely. His voice is delightfully mellifluous. (Been waiting for years to use that in a sentence)
Thank you, again and again, for uploading this, along with all those other Richardson related gems you are putting up, Phil. It's such an emotional experience watching this, and seeing Ian walk around places I've visited and loved myself (also in the footsteps of his Joseph Bell of 'Murder Rooms'.. sigh, and now I'm nostalgic for the place!)
Thanks - your appreciation is appreciated. And also to Sharon the administrator of the Facebook site "We Could Possibly Comment - Ian Richardson Remembered" for having the recordings.
i've watched many of his films , this side of him i never expected , philosophical look at his life.
Sir Ian Richardson thanks for sharing.
I'm getting the reflex to punch my laptop to get the damn TV image straight but then... I love how Ian Richardson can tell the most strange/outrageous/dry/exciting/whatever story with this little smirk, if anyone could anounce the apocalype, please let it be Mr. Richardson.
Omnihil777 I kept wanting to slap mine on the side with a good thump.
Thanks I've been looking for this for years. It really stuck with me years ago.
What a lovely visit with dear Ian, thank you for uploading
aye thanks a lot and you've managed to make this cynical expatriate-scot a wee bit tearie-wearie. ....
and i have always loved the bruch
This tape certainly led a hard life
Very enjoyable. TY
That brewery was nice old building. Too bad it was torn down to make room for an eyesore, which is what the SP building is. It looks like something the architect's cat coughed up.
My thoughts exactly, what idiot would tear down such a gorgeous building, the brief interior shots showed such a wonderful wooden staircase and wooden paneled walls, my only hope is that a lot of the timber and stone masonry was reclaimed.
An hour and a half for lunch! Wow!

Early 2000's, I would estimate.
As the Scottish parliament was being built, it would have to be 1997
