Most of those lovely buildings are gone, on Birnbeck Pier now. It is so sad. I hope now the sale has happened, they restore it to its former glory. The RNLI will hopefully be functioning from there again soon, too. I used to hang out with Rupert. He went out with my friend Helen. Nice guy.

I grow up in Weston super mare in the late 70's until 1987 when I moved to Dublin with my family I remember going to Burnbeck pier when I was about 12 or 13 in around 1984-85 place was on the decline then and pretty empty. You got a real sense of what the early 19th century must have been like as it had changes very little over the years, I remember concord noise cone hanging over the end.. Such a shame that it is now left to just fall in to the sea bit by bit, unfortunately the pier is the wrong end of weston now as the 'new' pier and town occupie the attention of the many tourists that flock to weston leaving Burnbeck pier and island to sink in to the past and became a distant memory of few who vist this wonderful place...
