I had a thought: I use furniture spray to clean and shine bicycles that I flip for extra cash. That could work to shine up the instrument panel and help it through the winters. I use cheap stuff from Wal-Mart or Behold from the grocery store.
You know that when the first thing you see when the video begins is an Astro van with 2x4s and plywood for a rear side window … you’re in for a real treat!
So, Mark..... I've been watching " So Help Me Todd" which takes place in Portland. Anyway, the character wears crap clothes to the opera and says" Ma, It's Portland...Nobody Cares". Well, I know you care. After all, You made it past that " Grimm" show era and all.....Lol. Glad you got the Singer going again.
There was a Singer at a gas station when I was in high school over 50 years ago. I'm looking at it, the owner comes out after paying for gas and says, "It's not an MG!" I said, "I knew it wasn't a Morgan, a Riley or an Alvis!" You should have seen the look he gave me. I was 17 years old. I knew my stuff. I know Optima batteries are great but I hate the way they look in an old car. There was one in the 37 Citroen I bought last year-I turned it in to the store where I bought a proper 6 volt battery. But, having said that if the battery is out of sight then I have no problem with it.
That seems to be the magic of those Optima batteries- one of my generators has one, it’s a big 6 cylinder Iveco diesel and that tiny battery starts it first time even after sitting for months! Very impressive.
I would have thought a mechanic with your years of experience would know not to let the engine idle and wait for oil pressure to come up slowly. That's where the most engine wear occurs, driving off and getting oil pressure up as soon as possible will help keep that old girl running much longer. (just saying) from an old dog of 79 years
If the car has no drain from itself or if you remove 1 of the terminals, a battery will last several years without losing much juice. A year is nothing, many parts stores will have them on the shelve for longer if it is a type that doesnt sell often.
Awesome and outstanding as always. Thanks for sharing and taking us along
Singer is a rare car today. Dates from about 1954 originally with a 1.5 liter engine, nice color in need of some serious TLC.

Beautiful car! And how did that battery last sitting outside so long?

Which badge goes on the rad grille; Silvo or Vonger 🤔
How is it possible that battery set in that van outside for a year Without being started And it started right up
It’s an Optima

taker better care of this wonderfull singer and try to keep it original. Without cutting the metal hood for your wrong engine and carburettors
You need to take better care of the Singer
