  • Join Caleb from Brownells as he takes you through a detailed build video featuring the 10/22 Takedown. In this tutorial, Caleb will be assembling a 10/22 Takedown using a Brownells BRN-22 Takedown Receiver, showcasing the entire process from unboxing the parts to the final assembly. Discover how to install a Tactical Solutions Takedown Barrel, a Powder River Precision fire control group for an upgraded shooting experience, and how to integrate a Midwest Industries chassis with AR-15 components for enhanced ergonomics and customization.
Learn about the adjustments needed for a perfect fit between the barrel and receiver, ensuring a snug and accurate setup. Caleb also discusses the importance of choosing the right magazines and optics to complement your build, taking advantage of the receiver's integral 1913 rail for scope or red dot sights, and utilizing M-LOK areas for additional accessories.

I appreciate how they edited out 15 minutes of him cussing about the stripped screwhead on the rear sight because of the blue locktite. :)

I have 3 mounted Vortex Defenders. Have had no issues with any of them and batteries last a long time. They are mounted on guns from 9mm to 45 ACP. Holds its zero. Love the knurled front of the optic, it can be racked on any surface if need be. Don't forget the lifetime warranty from Vortex!

Not sure how much I'll be investing in my takedown but still fun to watch the video.
Trying to get the best out of the stock configuration before doing any modifications (besides the bolt release and magazine) or upgrades. Know the rifle can shoot better than I can
Anyone have a recommendation for optics that fit in the 10/22 takedown bag or easy to dismount.

Does anyone make a receiver extension but that can be installed and removed without tools? That would be great as it would allow the receiver extension and stock to be removed basically breaking it down into 3 sections instead of 2.

The rubber "buffer" is a bad idea for the 10/22. The patent (expired) covers the cam at the back of the bolt that acts better than a buffer. The rubber buffer screws that up. The cam (not a plastic buffer) is why the 10/22 has them slowest cyclical rate.

  • @1rstTry

This video made it pretty obvious how little experience Caleb actually has working on machines. For example, after tightening the grip, even a basic mechanic knows that you twist a tiny bit in the opposite direction to get the bit out 😂 banging the gun on the bench is not the way. Also, blue loctite does NOT need a torch. 🤦🏻‍♂️ lastly, no mention of lubrication.
