I don't think "No Exit" was a perfect or conventional pop gem to be adored by most who heard it and I doubt that was the intention of its creators. It is bold, a bit experimental, sometimes messy, but it where it works it works brilliantly. Nothing sounds like this song and I can't imagine it coming from any band other than Blondie, the song sets itself apart even a decade later, which says something. Love it or not, there is a spark of originality that distinguishes it from the AOR charts.
I had goose bumps the size of dinner plates when I heard the crowd cheer before they came on camera watching the show that night- was incredible! Deb, Chris and Jimmy usually came up with my fav Blondie songs when they steered a little into the goth/vamp genre they do so enjoy- when they bring it on stage I feel like it's followed by mixed reviews ie her choice of apparel etc. However -her choice! I didn't enjoy the guests much, seemed like instead of complimenting the track they each tried to hijack the spotlight. Didn't see any shout out their hosts where as Deb put focus on them stepped back etc. Yay/boo.
Except she is the first female rap artist and they all knew it. She had more rap lyrics on the original. But Wu Tang are rap God's. These were legends on stage and and they made rap history.
Someday I'd like to know the whole story behind this performance. No Exit WAS an excellent song, but it's barely audible in this performance. I understand that this was packaged and issued under the title "Blondie and the Loud Bunch" or something like that...is this true? I think if Blondie had left Coolio to do it alone rather than invite a virtual rapper war that their comeback would have been a lot smoother.
Child, the whole story begins from the John Kennedy and Fidel Castro on the issue of Cuba being supplied with nuclear missiles and the U.S. naval blockade of Russian ships bringing to Cuba those missiles. The world was under the threat of the U.S. and the USSR going to war. In the 1975 the U.S. pulled out of Vietnam which was a victory for Russia. 1975 this present day the U.S. and Russia are still engaged in a Cold War and with Vadimir Putin in power Russian Air and Naval forces are once again fucking with the U.S. to see if the U.S. is going to fire upon the Russians. The Russians have gotten away with shooting down a few airliners and invading Afganistan for a while and currently interveining on the side of the Syrian goverment. Anti-war sentiment kept the people aware that there was a Cold War being waged which eventually resulted in the U.S. and the USSR to reduce their nuclear weapon inventories and brought down the Berlin Wall
Those who are are bagging this performance are missing the point of the whole collaboration. I think when artists such as Blondie branch out into other genres do so to unify and try open up people's minds.
yes, but "too many cooks spoil the broth" as the old saying goes. yeah, too many freakin rappers, threw the whole damn thing out of balance. it was supposed to be blondie's big reappearance, on national television. live audio! deb does all raps!: ua-cam.com/video/Bf6GJJudJBY/v-deo.html

That rap group ruined it for Debbie Harry, but when Debbie Harry does rap, it's like heaven. If Debbie ever made an album with rap only, I would buy it. No exception.

I was a huge fan of Blondie ever since their first album came out. I followed them for many many years and was saddened when they dissolved after "The Hunter". That's why I was so excited that they were gonna be on! I sat there in front of the television totally disappointed,my jaw dropped... what I got was rappers backed by Blondie. Period. Where does the band even fit in here?? They are little than a backing band! Turned off the television and haven't followed them since. Extremely disappointed.

[debbie's eye makeup was a mess too. that along with her stylized facial expressions, made her often look bizarre and unattractive here.]
This was a tragic mistake. The industry gave Blondie a platform to reintroduce themselves after a 16 year absence and the blew it. I like the song and the performance but it was simply the wrong choice. I wish they had done Maria. Since they reformed Blondie has established a tradition of poor choices ie releasing the wrong songs as singles, leaving the best songs off CDs, and so on. I love them but its very frustrating.
I think they learned the lessons. With Pollinator they went high on the charts and released Long Time as a single which sounds like a traditional Blondie song and also they released Fun which is also awesome. I know people that hadn’t heard about the current Blondie, they only knew One Way Or Another and Maria basically and heard Fun and they were like “wow, these are the same folks? I like a lot this song”.
I remember seeing this to when it was live and I thought it was a bad idea and it really turned me off to the album I've actually bought it but this song is crap and I say this is a big fan it was not a good idea I'm being objective stop coddling you know other people thinking this is great it's not great it was curious with other guys on here Maria should have been played not this s***
I remember watching this. Eagerly wanting to see Blondie again after 16 years and they play this to re-introduce theirselves to the American public. Huge disappointment for long time fan. Have always thought if Marie had been played, would have gone over much better with American public, and had another #1 rather than this stupid song. Sorry, but it is probably my least favorite Blondie song next to 'Go Through It' from Autoamerican
Aucun art là-dedans. Pauvre Debbie complétement perdue.

Brilliantly
Brilliant!
Best pop rock band since the Beatles !
Debbie don't give af, this was history in the making. Blondie returned that night for good.
Rest easy, Coolio! Bye bye, to another life.
Rip Prodigy as well

EPIC performance by Legends

At the end of the day what other female rock artist can hold their own with a lot of male rappers it’s still totally unique
Except she is the first female rap artist and they all knew it. She had more rap lyrics on the original. But Wu Tang are rap God's. These were legends on stage and and they made rap history.
Who were the four people who introduced Blondie in the clip?
Looove this woman

Blondie - if you ever do a " Rap Album " please don't use background rappers- you would just ruin it- for sure.
Love this song, but this performance was a mess. It felt so rushed.

This should've only had Debbie, Produg from Mobb Deep and Inspectah Deck. The rest just made the whole thing a complete mess.
I love my blondie but this performance was atrocious from beginning to end. Thankfully no exit is a masterful album.

Not the best song...there were so many others, specially from the "new" "No exit" album. several of them are fantastic
So off beat except the wu
I love Blondie but that was terrible!
I agree. I absolutely love Blondie, but I really didn't like this performance.
This was just a terrible mess.
Multi-millionaire rappers protesting "The Man." Puke.

It was a total mess from start to finish even the eye makeup. Still love them though.
Wow, I love Blondie but WTF is this shit ! I'm just going to pretend that I didn't watch this.
If you want to turn something mediocre into something shitty, just add rap and rappers. This SUCKED.
Failed.

How sad that the advice they were given was to have their come back stomped on by all of this garbage on top of an actual song.
