They designed the Camaro as a more 'normal' replacement for the Corvair and to compete with the Mustang. They kept making the Corvair after they introduced the Camaro in 1967 basically to stick it to Ralph Nader because they didn't want people thinking they had cowed to him because of his book (the Corvair was still selling fairly well, especially after they put the fully-independent rear suspension out of the Corvette in it and had redesigned the body and introduced the Monza version).

The Corvair also had a van. I owned both the van and the pickup truck. #6 Another thing about the PT Cruiser no one really knew was about the turbo version. Initially the turbo option was only available with the convertible version of the car. Which didn't make sense to me because when you put an engine in a car that lets you spin the wheels and haul ass down the road you WANT the stiff roof in order to help with cornering. Because, and here's the part I was hinting at at the start, the turbo option didn't just slap a turbo on the standard 2.4 liter engine. It was the frickin 2.4 turbo used in the SRT Neon. That's right. The turbo PT Cruiser was an SRT even though it wasn't labeled as such. And no one knew. But now you know.
My ex-girlfriend had a Prius Prime, and I would usually drive it when we went on longer trips. It got over 70 MPG, was nice to drive, had great visibility, decent acceleration with the electric motor, and you could park at the close parking spots and charge it, and you could drive in the express lanes for free. It also had a carbon fiber rear hatch, a nice sound system, and a huge screen for navigation. *BUT* everyone would act like a total D!Ck to you while you were driving it. It wouldn’t matter if I was going 80 MPH in the carpool lane, people would be on my ass, and they would cut across the double yellow just to pass me. @@nightfly4664 I was going to comment that it had to be lifted from The Grand Tour or Top Gear, it's the only time I've heard it on TV in decades! The 80's was big on euphemisms because of the British board of film censorship banning naughty words and not allowing the medical terms either, so Stephen Fry and his generation of Cambridge lights comedians really took the ball from the Carry On films, and ran with it. Good times for comedy, less political correctness and fallout for comedians. Less vulgarity too, aside from Roy Chubby Brown style acts and some of the northern misogynist types. Though most of them are still in circulation behind closed doors, I guess they're the entertainment at the Conservative party conference, it's usually rich old boys booking them for gigs at gentleman's clubs and the like since no-one else is interested in comedy that intentionally, and overtly racist, sexist or other ists. Unless it's framed to be inclusive rather than exclusive, which brings us neatly back to Top Gear, where they take the piss out of everyone equally, and all insulted parties have a laugh because most of the time it's genuinely funny and isn't designed to harm or belittle anyone, the only reason they're allowed to still get away with it, when almost no-one else enjoys that level of comedic freedom in their material in today's scene. Just a shame The Grand Tour proper is over, I hope they plan on doing frequent specials, or s different format as there's really nothing else like it! I watch a lot of car related video content on various platforms, but I could honestly watch Top Gear for a couple hours every night. Brusque old men remind me of my dad.. Although I'm probably older than Hammond myself. I feel comfortable with that kind of bantering humour and it's inexorably being banned from the school and workplace, which makes me sad. I'm no advocate of bullying, but nor am I a fan of being so thin skinned about comedy and quite so precious about pronoun's. A little compromise goes a long way, that's how civilisations were build, and the personal uniqueness that everyone is celebrating, seems ironically to be leading to civilisations being torn apart. There's no I in team, instead of celebrating what we have in common people are worshipping at the altar of unique and special at any cost. Uh, that unexpected rant kinda popped out. Sorry folks, now you see what messing with comedy gets you ;)

Indeed. I'm honestly a fan of the Miatas as well as Toyotas and Hondas. They are cars that can pretty much run forever if you take care of them. I'm not a fan of quite a few of the cars on this list, but I can appreciate their place in history. I recently swapped out the junky C4 for a four speed manual, and it's officially the coolest, most fun little daily driver the world has ever know. It's been called a panty dropper, a shaggin' wagon and the "badass little yellow wagon." I get compliments everywhere I go, and I couldn't have a more perfect car for my attention craving lifestyle.
So glad yall included the PT Cruiser! I am one of the weirdos who has one as a project car. So many people don't realize the GT/Turbocharged version uses the SAME SRT4 as in the Neon SRT4. It's an absolute powerhouse with a ton of mod-ability. The PT's only downside is weight, hit and miss looks (I kinda like it) and some factory build quality issues
I love the look of a PT cruiser, but I'm not a fan of them personally. Most of the ones I've seen were unreliable and poorly made bunch of problems. They were also very underpowered for the weight and were in the shop all the time. If they put a v8 Hemi under the hood and made them more reliable, I would definitely love to have one.

Hellcat widebods hit 1G lateral, hardly 'Can't corner' material..trolls are just throwing bs at them, bc they destroy their car..or dream car, bc they're 12 and/or have nothing else bad to say about them..so just make something up.
1G lateral with stock tires..it's better with soft tires like the Toyo R888 which obvo ppl would want if driving on a track.
a guy like me that is 6' 2" and loves torque would deffo not like driving a Miata for any length of time, lol.
Neons ate them alive in showroom stock class C in the 90's..slightly less cornering ability, bc an actual car..good for more than just one thing.
gobs more power out of the turns and down the straights.
after the race, drive it to the grocery store with 3 buds you brought to the track and then home. then to work all week in comfort & race it the next weekend.

The latter had the very functional "ramp side," a drop down door on the right side, since there was a hump at the back to cover the engine. I carried many tone of manure and landscaping materials in that old truck, rear wheels splayed with so much camber. Never broke down.
I'm surprised he didn't amplify on the fact that the 1965-1960 Corvair had a radically different rear suspension. In fact, it was pretty much the same as the Corvette of the era with a lateral leaf spring making the lower member.

I could immediately tell the way other drivers react to you is just different.
100% accurate. I strictly commute in mine and have another car for grocery and beach when I have family. Night and day difference of drivers around you

In Brazilian Portuguese "Pinto" means "Gentlemen Sausage".
@swtch_flp "Gentlemen sausage" is a (British) synonym for the word penis. If you watched Top Gear and the Grand Tour now, you should know it. ;-)

My friend had a Pontiac Aztek in our mid 20s. His dad was a prominent business owner, and the dealership gave him a great deal so it would have one on the road. You sat higher than any minivan, crossover or even a lot of SUVs. The removable center console cooler was a nice feature while traveling. But that all glass rear hatch was heavy, and my friend replaced the gas shocks twice in the 5 years or so he had it.
As for the Smart car, I went to the Toronto International Auto Show they year Smart was on their promo tour, and they not only had the Four2, but the Four4 and the Roadster, but the latter 2 were never officially released in North America. The 4 locked like a Neon station wagon, but the Roadster was actually nice, and would have been a contender for me to buy one. I see one pop up on used car markets once every 6 years or so.
"And just like every other Honda, it's insanely reliable"
*Viewer Looks at his 2002 Accord V6 with a blown automatic transmission*
as an '04 V6 automatic Accord owner, I feel attacked.
yes my transmission also has shat itself before
A very small setback in comparison with the fk ups made by other companies xD
As a ‘99 owner, I feel personally attacked
I literally have a 02 Accord V6 auto and never had a problem
There’s a v6 Accord 6 speed manual here in San Diego for like $6k.
The ridgeline isn’t a truck, it’s a minivan with a “tray”
Imagine if Honda redesigned it with a tougher grille and a longer bed
@Tasty Hamburgers uhh, lemme guess, you live on the east coast or midwest? Lol the ridgeline is a perfect california city truck.. maybe not so good if you actually needed 4wd, but for moving stuff and bringing shit home from Costco, ridgelines are okay. My buddy drives one. That being said, id never buy one.. I plan on building a sub baja sti this coming year..
Absolutely it is a modified minivan... However I drove one for 4 years and most people who rode in one loved the thing. Yeah it cant tow because its unibody, but its spacious, reliable, and it has a trunk under the bed. 2 of those years were in Lubbock, Texas btw and people there liked the thing.
Nah, it’s a SUV with a birth defect
@CMDR BouncyStickman jdm guys
James: i wanna see who gets the fastest ring time in an aztec

Neons were pretty popular here. They were like the Civic of Dodge, complete with the lore of a sought after engine swap for racing. You can put a minivan engine into it and it would gain a lot of get up and go. Iirc, it was a Chrysler minivan, but I could be wrong. It's been years.
